For unknown reasons, the workshop support in the beta branch is broken. I'm investigating the issue. Please revert to the standard branch [opt out of the beta] in case you are experiencing the error on your version of the game.
This bug doesn't affect the normal version of the game. I apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience!

This update allows the new free DLC costumes to work, editing just some text files to take care of a couple small changes. No gameplay/moveset modifications or character-specific patches.
I have received user feedback that PS4 and PS5 controllers cause issues with the joypad assignment routine. The issue is being investigated and there is a hotfix in the works. If the tests work as expected, an update will be soon released on the main branch to tackle this bug.
Schwarzerblitz gets its own first free DLC costume pack: Cat-astrophe! You can now get this g-nya-rly free set of three cat-themed costumes for Amy, Renzo and Jenn! The costumes are available from the get go and are placed in the last costume spot of each of the three characters.

Schwarzerblitz will be part of the IndieBreakdown tournament on the 12th December, 2020, 20:00 UTC! Here's what you need to know:
The tournament will be played using the Steam version of the game, set in Tournament mode (options > game options > tourney mode). This mode contains only the stages and characters that are tournament legal;
Tournament open to EU/NA/SA due to network reasons;
All matches will be played through Parsec or Steam Remote Play; a controller is required to ensure maximum compatibility. PLEASE be sure to test your setup before the day of the event;
You will be required to join both the Schwarzerblitz Discord Server (link in the game's main menu or here) and the IndieBreakdown Discord server;
After several beta iterations, I'm proud to announce that Schwarzerblitz v1.3 is out! This update brings all the improvements from the endless-beta branch into the main game, including the following major changes:

New stage: "Kingsland Graveyard", the home stage of Sir Rattlebone!
New stage: "After Hours", the heart of a closed night club with a hallucinating janitor sharkman who is just imagining the fighters on stage!

New trials: Leo, Rattlebone and Random got their own moveset trials!
New arcade ending: Random got their own arcade ending!
New costume: Quarantined Rapport 2 Johnson, as a homage to the QR2 tournament!
New costume: "Unpaid Bills" janitor Shaz
Additional fan-arts in the game's gallery!
Bug fixes
Fixed bug that caused losing due to health bar draining in story mode (during one specific fight) not to trigger a KO sequence.
Fixed a very dangerous bug that caused the AI performances to be hardware-dependent (see this previous announcement). Now the AI is standardized among machines and should offer a more consistent experience to all players.
Fixed a bug that caused Paper Doll not to trigger against certain specific attacks.
Moveset tweaks
Random's moveset has been expanded to allow for more combo creativity.
Wally's moveset has been reworked to address feedback about his zoning tools, in a way that makes him take more risks, but increasing his up-close reward.
Small fixes to frame data for some characters.
Open source engine upgraded
The source code of the engine on GitHub has been upgraded to reflect the current version (minus the Steam libraries due to licensing). Feel free to play with it if you are curious about what makes Schwarzerblitz "tick"!
Is this all?
For now, yes, but feel free to reach out to the official Discord server in case of additional feedback and bug reports! And, as always, RIDE THE LIGHTNING!

Dear players, I apologize
In the past four months, I have received wildly different reports about the game's difficulty. Some players found the difficulty pitiful, while some couldn't beat the arcade boss at Medium without summoning the help of eldritch fiends and asking for the intercession of the power that be. This wild swing was not only unexpected, but also concerning. Furthermore, watching videos uploaded on YT by different players, I noticed that the difficulty seemed wildly inconsistent even when the difficulty settings were the same.
Well, I've finally found the culprit.
There was a nasty, hidden, vicious bug that made the game's difficulty dependent on the frame rate of the PC the game was run on. This made the game a lot easier when played on high end PCs and much, much harder (borderline impossible) when played on lower-end PCs, causing the above differences.
I won't get into the technical details of the error (for those interested, a basic explanation can be found here, on my Twitter account), but suffices to say that what made the game impossible (or too easy) for you to play might have been a honest developer mistake.
I have fixed the bug and I will roll out the update to all branches at the end of the month. That said, you can already try the new version out in the endless-beta branch (password: mysteryjohnson). I hope you will enjoy the change, but for any feedback do not hesitate to open a community hub!
