Microsoft Flight Simulator 40th Anniversary Edition - FlightSim_OlieT
World Update IX brings Italy alive for Microsoft Flight Simulator Users with enhanced, rich detail and immersive activities that will take you into the region’s grandeur.

Fly throughout the historic cities of Rome and Venice, soar above Mediterranean coastlines, and navigate throughout sheer-faced peaks, all rendered in lifelike realism with World Update IX. The Microsoft Flight Simulator team has refined this area with the latest geospatial data available, including digital elevation modeling, aerial and satellite imagery, and triangulated irregular network (TIN) modeling of 20 cities, including Rome, Naples, Venice, and Milan. Gaya Simulations handcrafted four airports: Palermo Airport (LICJ) in Sicily, Sondrio Airport (LILO) in the southern Tyrol, Marina di Campo Airport (LIRJ) on Elba Island, and Bolanzo Airport (LIPB) in the southern Tyrol, and Orbx Simulation Systems enhanced the detail of 100 others. Yesterday, we released a patch to Sim Update 9 that addresses some Xbox crashes as well as some bugs that were found in the Beta. Release Notes can be found here. Microsoft Flight Simulator 40th Anniversary Edition - Ink
Each week we host an Official Fly-in alongside a group of community members (you!) on https://www.twitch.tv/msfsofficial.

This is an open event, free to all who would like to fly along with us and available to pilots of all skill levels. The goal is to have a great time, explore new locations of the world, and make new friends. This event is open to pilots on both the PC and Xbox platforms.

Our flight this week will see the group depart from EGVN, fly over this museum, then turn northward and make our way to Aberdeen, Scotland. Along the way, we will complete a few touch & go landings and pass many handcrafted POIs from World Update III: UK & Ireland.

Additionally, Just Flight has generously donated one (1) 146 Professional to give away as a prize to a community member during this flight! The winner will be selected randomly, and you must be present at the time of the drawing to win.

General bugfix 1.25.9.0

Unfortunately, 4 weeks of beta testing (with two build updates) did not help us clearly identify some crashes related to operations on the world map when downloading packages or content in the background that have been released alongside Sim Update 9 (1.25.7.0). We are working to identify this gap in our beta testing and aim to better cover these cases moving forward. We thank you for your patience.

  • Fixed various crashes on the world map
  • Fixed crashes affecting airports that have a beacon but no runway (BIKF for example)
  • Fixed simobject data request creation process preventing Flight sim gear peripherals from working
  • Fixed a crash in vector placement during back to main menu
  • Fixed LOD streaming in vector placement in the Scenery editor
  • Fixed windshield flickering when the render scale is not set to 100%
  • Fixed CGL updating loading order to ensure custom CGL files are loaded correctly

A new Spotlight Event landing challenge is available for you to fly, featuring the Cessna 172 Skyhawk landing at Kingston Airport in Nevada.

CFD simulation is now available on the Cessna 172 Skyhawk G1000 and can be enabled by aircraft creators.

New FXs added to the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet. Experimenting G force now triggers wingtips & wing vortex. You can also discover the vapor cone as you break the sound barrier. High speed and low altitude will also interact with the environment over snow, dust & water.

General bugfix
  • Fixed a silent crash when launching the title directly from the shortcut without having the Steam client open
  • Fixed missing legs in the bush trip briefing screen when the user had a save from a previous update
  • Fixed missing text for “Delete from Xbox Cloud storage”
  • Accessing the EXIT POS X/Y/Z simvars should no longer crash the title
  • Fixed Short Stuff achievement unlocking
  • Improved compilation time for WASM modules at first boot

  • Corrected error in ISA pressure formula application to weather atmosphere that was causing errors in the QNH to pressure altitude relationship, especially at high field elevations

WASM

  • Create Wasm Debug Window which displays information about wasm module, gauges
  • Custom Key Events are now well received by event_handler function
