Knock-knock, adventurers! Today we’re going to show you new, interesting shots from behind the scenes of Knock on the Coffin Lid's development. There are three new events in the program, as well as updated icons, and new animations. Let's go!

New events

Let's get straight to the new additions. This time we have quite a lot of them!

Earlier in the video diaries we showed you a funny character that we created at the request of a winner of the last year's tournaments.



Since we’ve started talking about new characters, we’ll show you two more. This event is called “Ritual” and its main character clearly has a passion for magical arts (probably dark ones).



Another event, called “Court Mage”, involved some magic too.



By the way, while our artist was creating this character’s image, a reference appeared spontaneously. Do you recognize him?



These are not all the new events, but we’ll leave the rest for future diaries so that we can show a little more progress.

New icons

In addition, we’ve finished the work on lots of new icons. They’ll tell you what effects affect your character, allies and enemies.



Progress

Do you remember the forge from the past diaries? We’ve finished colouring it, and now it looks even more impressive!



New animations

While most of our time is devoted to Vanadis’s cutscenes, updating animations is also underway. This week we are ready to show you an orc hunter armed with a spear.



In addition to unit animations, our team is also working on new effects. Today we want to show you a few of them. The last animation is a very powerful witchcraft!

Knock-knock, adventurers! Here’s what's new behind the scenes of “Knock on the Coffin Lid” development! Just a little reminder: the game is in early access on Steam and it’s heading towards its release.

Progress

Let's start by showing how the game’s early art has changed. In the latest diaries, we showed a certain gloomy tunnel. Today we’ll show you our progress with it.



This event is called “The Abode of the Mite”. What will happen here is known to everyone who has already played KOTCL. For those who haven’t played, a short explanation: in one of the game’s big locations, the Rotten Bog, there’s a cult of a certain “Mite”. The locals worship this monster as a deity, make sacrifices to it, and scare away strangers. The Mite creates new monsters, like the Mite Queen. What other creatures will we find in the Mite’s abode?

Last time we also showed you a picture of a high-ranked member of the military. The art is completed and you will soon see the final result in the game ;)

New events

We keep making frames for new events. For example, how do you like this blacksmith? He’s a very harsh man, but we are sure that he’s a master at his craft.



And here is another event – “Caravan”. We showed a frame from it in the video diaries. Most players assumed that they’d be hired to protect a caravan during a journey. What do you think?



Updated animations

We also continue to update animations for all enemies, friends, and allies in the game. Today we want to show you some draft frames.

For example, take a look at this orc. Everything about him has been improved – from the movement of equipment elements to the general animation of the character. He seems to be more alive and ferocious than he was before.



Last time we showed you some animations of Sister Lilly, today we’ll show you the second witch, Sister Lana.



And one more thing…

Finally, we want to show you something else that we’ve been working on for some time. We are showing this image for the first time. This picture is not from another event. We’ll leave room for some intrigue here :)

Knock-knock, players! We’ve released a new patch 0.4.25 which fixes some bugs.

  • Fixed bug that sometimes made it impossible to use potions from inventory.
  • Fixed bug that caused the game to freeze when creating a new save in the free game mode.
  • Fixed freezing in the "Turmoil" event .
  • Fixed bug that sometimes caused the game to freeze when restarting a battle.
  • Fixed bug that caused the game to freeze when clicking "End Campaign" after death.
  • Fixed a bug due to which enemies sometimes addressed the wrong character.
  • Fixed damage calculation for the card “Rebound”.
  • Fixed several interface bugs.
  • Fixed errors and typos in card descriptions.

🔵 Bjorn
  • Fixed bug with dropping non-class boots for Vanadis.
  • Fixed a bug that caused incorrect backgrounds to appear in Vanadis events.
  • Fixed a bug due to which in the events for Vanadis the event text did not fit into the frame.

Knock knock, players! A new patch 0.4.24 has been released, which fixes the main bugs that you reported. We continue to work on new content, which will be revealed in future diaries soon!

  • Fixed a bug with the Turmoil event.
  • Fixed incorrect descriptions of some cards.
  • The inscription "Work in progress" no longer interferes with closing the glossary.
  • Fixed a bug with a taunt in the battle with the Gate Guard.
  • Fixed a bug with the "Unity With Nature" intention of the Metamorph.
  • Where's the trigger?! Fixed a bug where the Bomber was not giving the Deactivator.

  • Fixed conditions for triggering the effect of the card "Take Away Strength".

Knock-knock, players! We’ve released a new patch 0.4.22. Various issues that you reported to us have been fixed.



Changes

🔵 General
  • Access to the "Millenis Nightmares" mode now appears only after completing the story with any of the characters.
  • Characters' first tarot card is now unlocked only after that character completes the story.
  • Completing the Roguelike Mode no longer unlocks a new hero.
🔵 Tarot Cards
  • In the “Wheel of Fortune” Tarot, selected points in the Swamps and the Castle are displayed.
  • In the “Wheel of Fortune” Tarot, the first three fights will not be elite.
🔵 Bjorn
  • “Spiritual Oppression” Level 2 card is no longer legendary.
  • Bjorn's “Blood Thinning” talent has been fixed.

Knock-knock, players! We’ve released a new patch 0.4.21 for the test branch. We have fixed a lot of bugs, both general and concerning Tarot cards, and added new animations!



Changes

🔵 General
  • Added new VFX animations for events and camps.
  • Removed the “Millenis Nightmares” button from the Story mode.
  • Added new welcome phrases for all opponents in the game.
  • The settings on the Millenis Nightmares challenge scales no longer reset when a run is restarted.

Bug fixes

  • Say yes to corruption! The game no longer freezes when trying to give money to the guard by the castle.
  • Fixed the “Burning Arrow" attack of the Fire Brotherhood’s crossbowman - now it doesn’t inflict Burning if it hasn’t broken through the block.
  • Fixed the display of damage from the “Oxidation" card (Big Worm).
  • Fixed the bug with the appearance of the "Burning" card in the “Jinx” improvement on the Scales.
  • Now, the character which you are playing will speak in a number of events.

  • Fixed timer balance for the "Judgement" card: the time for battle is now reduced to 2 minutes.
  • Now the effects of the “Strength” card are taken into account when calculating damage done.
  • Less damage is returned if the enemy has little health (for the “Strength" card).
  • The Tarot “Hanged Man" card now correctly gives cards of other heroes.
  • Fixed work of Tarot "Wheel of Fortune" card.

  • Fixed the "Goblin Town" event when playing for Persival.
🔵 Bjorn
  • Fixed the animation of Bjorn's dwarven helmet.
  • After stunning, intentions are correctly updated if Bjorn shapeshifts.
  • Bjorn's Axe of the Turnskin returned to bleeding cards.
🔵 Vanadis
  • During the first turn enemies can now attack the pet too (previously they always attacked only Vanadis).
  • Fixed the mechanics of the “Repeat the Lesson" card.
  • Fixed the description of the "Repeat the Lesson" card.
  • Fixed the mechanics of the “Spark” card.
  • Fixed the damage value in the description of the "Freezing Blow" card.
  • Fixed the damage value of the "Rebuff" pet card when Strength indicator is negative.
