Grand Theft Auto V

Here's what we've all been waiting for. In a new Q&A on the Rockstar Newswire, the GTA 5 developer confirms that players won't be banned for using single-player mods.

Here's the full statement:

"We have always appreciated the creative efforts of the PC modding community and we still fondly remember the awesome zombie invasion mod and original GTA map mod for GTAIV PC among many other classics. To be clear, the modding policy in our license has not changed and is the same as for GTAIV. Recent updates to GTAV PC had an unintended effect of making unplayable certain single player modifications. This was not intentional, no one has been banned for using single player modifications, and you should not worry about being banned or being relegated to the cheater pool just for using single player PC mods. Our primary focus is on protecting GTA Online against modifications that could give players an unfair advantage, disrupt gameplay, or cause griefing. It also bears mentioning that because game mods are by definition unauthorized, they may be broken by technical updates, cause instability, or affect your game in other unforeseen ways."

Essentially, Rockstar is saying they can't promise that mods won't sometimes be broken by updates, but reassure that—as long as it doesn't cross into GTA Online—players are safe to mod their game.

As for GTA Online, Rockstar provides additional reassurance to players worrying about the increased prevalence of hackers:

"Unfortunately even a tiny minority of people cheating can have a negative impact on a larger population. In addition, solving this problem requires a different approach on each platform. We have been regularly rolling out fixes for specific exploits and tools to enable us to combat cheating with each patch and we are going to continue to do so. While it s unrealistic to say we can solve the problem of cheating forever and for everyone, we believe we are making significant progress on this issue and we will continue to work aggressively to stop these griefers in their tracks as best we can."

Yesterday, we published our round-up of GTA 5's best mods to date. Go ahead and dive on into it—Rockstar has just given you their blessing.

May 6, 2015
Grand Theft Auto V

Since its PC launch in 2015, Grand Theft Auto 5 has been flooded with thousands of user-made mods—so much so, this is our third  fourth fifth run at adding to our already extensive list.

On the last page, we'll tell you what you need to install your mods. This article was originally published on May 6, 2015, updated and republished on September 17, 2015, again on September 16, 2016, once more on July 28, 2017, and again on March 8, 2018. Needless to say, we're always updating it so please do check back later for more. If you're after GTA 5 cheats for PC, we have that covered too.

A warning before we start: As last year's OpenIV carry on outlined, Rockstar has clarified its stance on modding and has said it does not ban players for modding their single-player game. With that in mind, don't ever use mods in GTA Online, and, to play it safe, don't join GTA Online with single-player mods installed.

Natural Vision Remastered

Inspired by the realistic graphics of games like Forza Horizon 3 and Watch Dogs, Natural Vision Remastered is an ambitious and impressive GTA 5 visual overhaul mod. Razed, the mod's creator, has worked tirelessly to bring it together—having spent over 1,200 hours (50 full days) of work on the project, and having pored over 40 hours of video footage research, hundreds of photographs, and having wandered down the real life streets of Los Angeles and neighbouring settlement Salton Sea via Google Street Maps more times than he can recall.

Shortly after this list was last updated, Razed reworked NVR. As you might've guessed, GTA 5's most impressive visual overhaul mod looks even better after an extensive update.

After Hours SP

The After Hours SP mod brings GTA Online's titular nightclub update to GTA 5's singleplayer mode. Once installed, players can select the decor and DJ within their clubs in real-time by activating a menu at reception, but cannot promote their venues in the same way the multiplayer campaign allows. Which is almost certainly a good thing.

Morevoer, After Hours SP lets you upload and play custom music for your dedicated revellers. Check out Franklin shaking his bum to Drake's One Dance (a song otherwise not part of GTA 5's soundtrack) above.

Realistic Damage System

Sick of playing Michael, Trevor and Franklin like tea bags? Realistic Damage System provides a more realistic injury experience. Nerve damage, heart attacks, internal bleeding, collapsed lungs, limb-targeting—it's all there, determined by five states of wounds and bleeding: None, Light, Medium, Heavy and Deadly.

Creator SH42913 says their mod is designed to "totally change gameplay [to] make it more realistic and hardcore". Chris learned this the hard way

Warfare MOD

Zanzou's GTA 5 Warfare mod adds 20v20 military-themed showdowns that must be seen to be believed. Go on, check some of 'em out above.

As shown, skirmishes can incorporate tanks, choppers and other vehicles for maximum chaos—while battlegrounds can range from yachts to full Los Santos districts. There's also a survival mode, which pits you against an infinitely spawning number of baddies. Come ahead.

Complex Control

Complex Control adds 100 unique character skins, 55 unique and balanced abilities, roguelite, permadeath and battle royale mechanics, and is the work of over 1,500 hours of solo development. In short: THEAETIK's Complex Control transforms the face of GTA 5 entirely.

With procedural gameplay and permanent progression, it really is in a league of its own. Marvel at its trailer above. Loads of more player-made mods follow...

Grand Theft Space

Grand Theft Space transports players from GTA 5's urban sprawl to the cosmos above. At present, it boasts a functioning space shuttle, 11 planets, three moons and scant alien life. It's modest—but should it realise its potential, this work-in-progress open-source project could become the fully-customisable space sandbox we've always wanted, as it blends real life research with science fiction to great effect.

Gang and Turf

Lucas Vinicius' Gang and Turf mod has been around for a while, but is still being grown and supported today. It adds GTA: San Andreas'  gang warfare system—in all its PS2-era, squad-based, territory-capturing mini-game glory.

Paying close deference to its source material, Gang and Turf charges players with heading up their own murder squads—within which members are registered, crew colours are sworn by, and patches are defended. Team vehicles are assigned for squad-based transportation, and backup can be patched in by land or parachute when things get heavy. The results are suitably chaotic, particularly when multiple companies rough it out for the same stretches of land—or when another gang relocates their spawn point on the fly. Good luck when that happens!

Project London

One of the game's most ambitious mods, Project London aims to build a London-like city in Grand Theft Auto 5. And while the original GTA: London was set in the late '60s, this version is inspired by the modern city.

Project London is a work-in-progress venture that's seen its creator crafting landmarks incrementally, before building the project out into a pseudo interpretation of The Big Smoke. Doing so involves a fair bit of Google Street-mapping, researching real life videos and photos, and a touch of artistic license.

Dragon Ball script

From prolific Grand Theft Auto 5 superhero modder JulioNIB, the Dragon Ball script mod lets players to tear up the faux LA cityscape from land or sky, utlising a host of DB-authentic powers and moves as they go. Try the Kamehameha energy attack, Ki Blast, Teleport, and/or the iconic Destructo Disc maneuver for size this-a-way

More and more and more on page two.

Incredible Hulk Script

This mod underscores the the entertainment value in throwing caution to the wind and tearing Los Santos to shreds. Doing so as the Incredible Hulk is something you really must experience, as the joy that stems from ripping lamp posts out of the ground and playing baseball and/or golf with police cars is second to none.

Funny Vehicles Pack 1 & 2

Don t get me wrong, I do enjoy a cruise in one of GTA 5 s Obey 9F Audi rip-offs, but I m equally partial to hitting the road in Walter White s portable campervan meth lab, or tearing up the highway in the Mad Max Doof Wagon. These and more await those who enjoy the journey more than the destination.

Superhot Mod

Superhot is SUPERHOT Team s effortlessly stylish FPS where time only moves when you do. Superhot Mod is a modification that applies this uber-cool mechanic to GTA 5. Naturally, this aids combat to no end, but is particularly useful when scoping out groups of gangs or if you re masterminding an attack at distance.

Gang Hideouts

Speaking of scoping out gangs, one feature sorely missed from GTA 5 is Read Dead Redemption-style gang hideouts. So long as you have the OpenInteriors mod installed, Gang Hideouts adds over ten raidable enemy HQs, as well as a handful of antagonists such as Corrupt Cops an Dam Hippies.

GTA 5 Pride

Los Santos Pride lets players celebrate Pride on the faux-LA streets in a display of colour, togetherness and unity. Backed by Stockholm Pride the biggest Scandanavian Pride festival in the world Los Santos Pride is the result of a collaboration between a host of GTA 5 modders and adds a non-hostile parade to the game.

Poke Ball

Poke Ball is Pokemon Go as you ve never seen it before, yet is pretty much exactly how you d expect it to unfold in GTA 5. Armed with six Poke Balls, you re tasked with throwing them towards NPCs before the latter is sucked inside. Until weakened your captives are likely to escape, thus roughing them up a little is required. Once made yours, they ll then fight by your side.

Army at Five Stars

In past GTA games, achieving the highest wanted level resulted in the army being unleashed to hunt you down. This isn’t the case in GTA 5. The worst opposition you’ll ever face is a SWAT team and the FIB. This mod lets the army join the chase again, coincidentally giving the player a better chance to hijack military vehicles. Download it here.

Ghost Rider

At one stage in this list's lifespan, this entry linked to a 'fire breather' mod which is no longer supported. Now, while it's always a shame when neat mods fall by the wayside, the process makes room for arguably even cooler ones. JulioNIB's Ghost Rider mod fits this purview nicely, allowing players to fill the flame-fired boots of the Marvel superhero (or Nicholas Cage movie protagonist, if you prefer). Drive a flame trailing motorbike, fire flame-infused bullets from your gun, and set about ban and/or good guys with a flaming chain. Smokin'.

Keep that page turning for more mods.

Reaper mod

Mind you, we've got nothing against blimps, but doesn't Los Santos deserve something a bit more interesting haunting its airspace? The Reaper mod replaces the standard blimp with the intimidating alien spacecraft from the Mass Effect series. Good luck indoctrinating Trevor. You can also replace the blimps with Star Destroyers from Star Wars, if that's your jam.

Raven Rock

The Raven Rock mod plops an entirely new island on your map. Don't plan your vacation yet, though, because it's already been occupied by the military. There's a runway for jets, two helipads, a submarine bay, and lots and lots of soldiers. Requires the map editor script.

Railroad engineer

Trains are the unstoppable juggernauts of the GTA 5 universe, but now you can put on an engineer's cap and drive e'm, crash 'em, and even derail 'em (finally!) with the Railroad Engineer mod. All aboard for some major destruction. Works with commuter trams as well as the freight trains.

Planet Express Ship, Rick and Morty, the Lion King

Good news, everyone! Now you can make like a cyclops and fly the Planet Express Ship from the oft-cancelled cartoon Futurama. It comes complete with a working gun turret and doesn't even require Nibbler's poop to power the engines. The Rick Sanchez (Rick and Morty) Add On, on the other hand, brings the nihilistic alcoholic genius scientist's character model to the streets of Los Santos. Expect typically hilarious and often disgusting catchphrases. And while we're desecrating the memory of popular cartoons, why not throw The Lion King's Timon and Pumba into the mix? MrMarco1003's The Lion King Pack adds this pairing as well as Ed, Shenzi, Banzai, Kiara, Nala, Scar, Mufasa, and Rafiki. Simba's in there too—in both adult and junior form.

Extra single-player garages

So many cars, so few places to store them. These two mods, the Single Player Garage mod and Extra Single Players Garages mod add over a dozen new garages to the game, so your favorite whips will never be out of reach.

Luxury safehouse

Franklin's pad is nice, but you should really crank your lifestyle up to eleven with the Marlow Valley enhanced luxury safehouse. Featuring enough parking for 30 of your cars and bikes, several helipads, a sprawling mansion, and armed guards, this safehouse will make you feel like a true kingpin. It even includes paparazzi.

Knight Rider

Fans of the show Knight Rider will fondly remember the talking, self-driving, indestructible Pontiac Firebird. The Knight Rider mod brings KITT to life in Los Santos. Summon KITT, perform turbo boosts, drive on two wheels, and listen to him talk. It even includes the Ford Mustang version of KITT from the short-lived 2008 series. Here's a closer look.

Statues

Spice up Los Santos by adding some sweet pop-culture eye-candy. The Statues mod adds looming sculptures to the city, including Optimus Prime, Superman, Captain America, a T-Rex, and an enormous Terminator. The mods keep coming...

Crime and Police Rebalance mod

Ever stealthily whack someone with a silenced pistol, in the absence of witnesses, and somehow the police still know? This Crime and Police Rebalance mod makes some changes in your favor. More crimes require a living witness to phone the cops, and the mod also slows down increases to your wanted level.

NB—it's worth noting that as of July 12, 2017, this mod was no longer supported by its creator. At the time of writing it still works, though, and is still great fun.

Trucking Missions script

Want a legit way to make a living? The Trucking Missions script gives you six different big-rig driving jobs to complete. Some are time-based, others focus on delivering cargo with as little damage as possible. You even have your own trucking office.

Ped Chaos script

Looks like the citizens of Los Santos have had it with simply being victims of your rampages, and are taking matters—and guns—into their own hands. With the Ped Chaos script, everyone in the city is armed and dangerous, and the cops are nowhere to be found. Watch citizens go to war with each other or join in yourself.

Open All Interiors

During GTA 5's storyline you'll visit the interiors of lots of buildings, such as the LifeInvader offices and the Sandy Shores Sheriffs Department, but you'll find these locations locked up if you ever return. The Open All Interiors script makes over 30 of these locations accessible during freeplay, giving you some great spots for shootouts with the fuzz or for just exploring at your leisure.

No Water/Tsunami/Atlantis mod

Want to play with the ocean level in GTA 5? This water mod has got you covered, literally, by giving you the ability to drown Los Santos in seawater. You can also remove the ocean altogether and drive around on the dry seabed. Using the experimental 'crazy waves' feature may cause game crashes, so make sure you read the instructions on the mod page carefully.

Working Restaurants script

Want to dine at Burgershot or Up-N-Atom? The Working Restaurants script adds the ability to snarf a quick, health-restoring meal at nine different restaurants. Navigate to the new icons on your map, stand under the yellow arrow by the front door, and chow down. Dining only costs a couple bucks, fills your health, and advances the clock by a half-hour.

Simple Passenger script

Feel like doing some hitchhiking? The Simple Passenger script lets you climb into NPC-driven cars, but instead of dumping the driver on the street you can ride as a passenger. Set waypoints for the driver and they'll bring you there, or let them decide where to go. You can also enable drive-by shootings, and if you get tired of being a passenger, you can switch to the driver's seat with a keypress.

Fuel script

A lot of thought has been put into GTA 5's cars, but what about the go-juice that keeps them running? Using the Fuel script means your car will slowly run out of gas as you drive. It also adds a gas tank meter (just above your minimap) to let you know when you're low on petrol, which you can refill by visiting a gas station or using a jerry can.

More mods on the next page!

Vehicle Controller script

You drive cars in GTA 5, but now you can truly operate them with the Vehicle Controller script. Pop the hood and trunk, signal turns, turn on the hazard lights and even the interior light. I know most of this sounds cosmetic, but there are some real in-game perks, such as the ability to leave the engine running and the driver's side door open, useful for quick getaways. You can also toggle cruse control so you don't have to lean on the gas pedal constantly during long drives. Here's a video.

Gravity Gun script

Put a little Half-Life 2 in your GTA 5 with the Gravity Gun script. Equip the stun gun, aim it at something, and hold the E key, and you'll be able to lift and hurl your target really, really, really far. Works on cars, hapless NPCs, and other objects. You can watch it in action here.

Nice Fly script

You won't look like Superman—not yet anyway—but you can fly like him. The Nice Fly script lets you sail through the air—in directions other than down—without having to steal a jet first. The mod requires you to be wearing a parachute, ironically, though you won't need to pull the cord. Because you can fly. Here's a video.

Car Cannon script

You've shot cars in GTA 5, but have you ever shot cars? Like, out of your gun? The Car Cannon script replaces your bullets with automobiles, letting you fire a stream of cars and trucks of all kinds, because why the hell not? It's Los Santos. Place is straight crazy.

North Yankton Loader

GTA 5 begins in the frigid climes of North Yankton, after which you're whisked to Los Santos for most of the rest of the game. If you'd like to revisit it on your own schedule, this North Yankton Loader is a modified version of the Native Trainer that comes with a submenu to let you race around the snowy streets whenever you like.

Ragdoll on Demand Mod

You've punished random pedestrians in all sorts of horrible, often lethal ways, but sometimes it's fun to just freak 'em out by flopping all over them with the Ragdoll on Demand mod. This mod lets you turn your limbs to jelly whenever you want (even in cutscenes). It's a good way to amuse yourself, too, especially during lengthy exposition scenes.

Mobile Radio script

GTA games always have great radio stations, but it's sort of disappointing that you can only listen to them while in a vehicle or one of your houses. The Mobile Radio script lets you listen to your favorite tunes on foot as well. Just imagine your phone came with earbuds. And so onto the last...

Now you've seen some mods, how do you install them? First, a general warning.

Updated Warning!

Rockstar recently said you won't ever be banned for modifying your single-player game. It's still unclear what might happen if you have single-player mods installed when you play online, even if you don't use them. To be on the safe side, and to be a good gamer, just don't use mods in GTA 5 Online no matter what. Offline, in your single-player game, go crazy with whatever mods you like. To be safe, though, you should really consider removing the single-player mod files you've installed before you join an online session.

Script Hook V

Most of the current mods are scripts, and to get them working you'll need the latest version of Script Hook, created by Alexander Blade.

Here is the link Blade provides to download ScriptHook. Just be sure to use the download link next to the version number: there are advertisements on that page that also say they are downloads. This is what you're looking for:

In the zip file, there's a folder called 'bin' with three files in it.

  1. dinput8.dll: This is the latest ASI loader, which allows you to load libraries with the .asi extension.
  2. ScriptHookV.dll: It allows custom scripts to be used in GTA 5.
  3. NativeTrainer.asi: You don't need this trainer, but it's there if you want it. It allows for all sorts of cheats in single-player, like changing your skin, changing the time of day, teleportation, invincibility, and more. I used it recently to become a coyote.

Take dinput8.dll and ScriptHookV.dll (and the trainer, if you want it) and put them in your GTA 5 game directory, wherever GTA5.exe is located. On Steam, it's 'Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V'.

That's pretty much it! Most script mods you download will have a single .asi file that you drop into the same folder, though some may have a few extra files. Always check the installation instructions of the mods you download.

Community Script Hook V .NET

A version of Script Hook that allows scripts written in .NET language. Certain script mods (like the Simple Passenger script) require both Alexander Blade's Script Hook and this Community Script Hook V .NET.

  1. Make sure you have Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 installed.
  2. Make sure you have Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package for Visual Studio 2013 (x64) installed.
  3. Download and install Alexander Blade's Scripthook (follow instructions above).
  4. Download the Community Script Hook here.
  5. Copy the ScriptHookVDotNet.asi into your game directory.

LUA Plugin

Some mods, in addition to ScriptHook, require the LUA plugin, like the Enhanced Train Driver and Ragdoll on Demand scripts. Here's the download link. In the zip file you'll find:

  1. A folder called 'scripts'
  2. A file called LUA_SDK.asi

Grab them both and put them in your GTA 5 game directory, same spot as with ScriptHook. Inside the scripts folder, there's a folder called 'addins.' There are already a handful of .lua files in there: one is a bodyguard spawner mod, and others are example files. You can delete them all if you don't want them (the bodyguard spawner mod caused me some problems).

The 'addins' folder is where you'll be dropping .lua files for mods that use them. Again, refer to each mod's installation instructions.

OpenIV

If you ever used mods with GTA 4, you probably used OpenIV to do it. It's a powerful utility that allows for the editing and saving of GTA game files, and it's now being developed for GTA 5.

Different mods use OpenIV in different ways, so we can't really give you a general list of instructions: read the directions on each given mod's page. Keep in mind, OpenIV makes actual changes to game files, so we suggest making backup copies of any game files you change.

You can download the latest version of OpenIV from the official site here.

Map editor

The Map Editor is required for mods that add new areas, like islands and buildings, to the Los Santos map. You can also use it to spawn and place objects, navigate with a freecam, and save changes you make to your own map.

Configuration

Most mods have their own activation keys and controls. Some are customizable, some aren't. If you plan to use a lot of mods (as I did this week) your keyboard is going to fill up fast with all the mods vying for space. Advice: if you try a mod out and plan never to use it again, delete the file before you forget about it, or eventually you're going to get some overlap as different mods try to use the same keys. Until we get a good GTA 5 mod manager (there's one in the works), it's up to you to keep your mods organized!

There was a time, before mod tools were robust and modding came with a chance of career improvement, when mods were frivolous little things. That’s what the lack of official modding support in Grand Theft Auto V [official site] brings back. The ability to make sweeping changes to the world of Los Santos may yet arrive, but for now I’m enjoying small scripts that let you fly, that make all the pedestrians mad, that make your guns fire cars.

I’m really> enjoying the mod that makes your guns fire cars. See the video below.

Imagine this, but a big golden statue made of frozen piss.

Hello and welcome to the last annual Horascars Awards, a celebration of what the Grand Theft Auto 5 [official site] community has managed to do so far with the PC-only camera-positioner and slowmoifier Rockstar Editor tool. They’re like the Oscars only they carry no weight whatsoever and are mostly a framing device for me to show off some cool videos.

-wait for applause->

Thank you, thank you. I’ve scoured the depths of Reddit, YouTube and every other internet well for the very best in Los Santos-based video entertainment. The sheer graphical meat of GTA5 coupled with the easy to use tool has created explodey-bang showpieces, comedies and even the odd bit of pure digital photography. Read on!

Is carnage relevant to your interests? If not, I'm not sure what you're doing reading a post about a GTA 5 mod. Why don't you go and read about moss or something?

For those remaining, here is a new—or rather returning—slice of Los Santos mayhem. The Ped Riot mod brings San Andreas's much-loved Pedestrian Riot cheat into GTA 5.

In Ped Riot, every pedestrian is given a random weapon and an overwhelming desire to shoot it. They'll target you; they'll target each other; they'll target just about anything that moves. It levels GTA 5's playing field, and gives you a proper sense of uncontrolled mayhem. It's neat.

A few weeks ago, I wrote about why San Andreas's riot cheat was so brilliant. Its heartening to see the same sense of destruction return to GTA 5.

Grand Theft Auto V [official site] is our Game of the Month for May. To steal its jewels and show them to you, a crack team of criminals – Adam, Alice, Pip and Graham – gathered inside the RPS safehouse to gaze over the blueprints, outline their crimes, and discuss how much they like driving within the speed limit.>

Graham: I am wondering: how do people feel about the game-game part of GTA V? I’m wondering whether our warm feelings towards it have more to do with Los Santos as a place for exploration and japes than it does its cinematic story and crim sim noise.

Or rather, since I enjoy the missions quite a bit, whether I’m the only one.

Grand Theft Auto V

If you ve been to the peak of Mount Chiliad, Grand Theft Auto V s highest mountain, you ll have seen this bizarre mural in the cable car station. But what does it mean? This is the question inspiring thousands of GTA players to scour Rockstar s huge world for clues, in an attempt to solve a mystery that may not even exist.

It s been dubbed the Chiliad Mystery, and its dedicated subreddit is one of my favourite places on the internet. The genius of this mystery, whether intentional or not, is that Rockstar have turned a large section of their playerbase into precisely the kind of tinfoil hat-wearing UFO nuts they mock in their games.

And it s amazing. Reading some of the theories, I can t help but be impressed. They range from the plausible to the absurd, and they re all hugely entertaining to read. People are convinced there s more to GTA s endgame than the UFOs that hover in certain areas of the map once you ve reached 100% completion.

Some people say the trail is leading to a jetpack. After all, the icon on the bottom-right of the mural does look a bit like one. Others say there are flyable spaceships waiting to be discovered. But whatever the theory, these passionate investigators have been united by one shared belief: that the truth is out there.

You can read more about the UFOs and the first steps of the investigation here, but I thought it would be interesting to round up some of the latest theories. Thanks to the PC version and the efforts of modders, several discoveries have been made in the game s files that have brought the community back to life.

Rockstar haven t said a thing about the UFOs, the mural, or anything else. Presumably because they know their silence only adds to the compelling nature of the mystery. Or maybe because there is no mystery. Some people think it s a dead end, but others are convinced there s an incredible secret buried deep in the game, behind cryptic alien glyphs and Illuminati symbols. I want to believe.

You can get inside the UFOs

In this massive thread, trainwreck42o has gone through the game s code to look for clues: specifically the script attached to the UFOs.

There are interiors which can load, and the script which loads them requires the player not to be injured and for a certain global variable to be either -1 or 999. they explain. If we are uninjured and have the global variable set correctly when viewing the UFO, we will know the interiors are being loaded.

If we assume we are able to meet those requirements, the final step is to uncover the warp points which will take us from Mount Chiliad into these interiors.

But what s the mystery variable? No one has managed to find out—yet. Some people think this reference to the UFO interior is just the ship from Michael s drug trip (which people have actually found), but others think it could trigger a UFO abduction sequence, or a chance to pilot the UFOs for yourself.

The Maze Bank fountain is the egg

There s a pattern on the fountain outside the Maze Bank building that, according to some, looks like the crack on the egg pictured in the mural. But UFO hunter Huge_Dabs thinks there s more to it than that.

I ve studied sacred geometry before and I can NOT believe I didn t catch this. they explain here. Notice the egg of life and the fountain are identical! This means it s an egg, just not the kind we were looking for. The crack lets us know it s the one from the mural!

I wouldn't say they were identical, but it's an interesting—if far-fetched—idea. Would Rockstar really be this cryptic? If so, that might explain why it's taken so long for the mystery to be solved.

There s a message hidden in the Space Docker s horn

The Space Docker is a special vehicle received as a reward for collecting all 50 spaceship parts. It s a dune buggy with a B-movie sci-fi design, and the horn makes a series of bizarre noises when activated.

So, naturally, someone decided to run the audio through a spectrograph analyser. This horn matches the alien language seen written in the alien camp. says DidSomebodySayFIB, referring to a chain of symbols found here.

Musicians have hidden images in audio before, notably Aphex Twin, so could there be something to this theory? Or is it just a coincidence?

If you want to join the quest to solve this puzzle (if there even is one) you can download a 100% GTA V save file here. And if you find anything, don t forget to post the results on r/chiliadmystery—but read the FAQ first.

The latest slice of chaotic GTA 5 rule-bending comes courtesy of modder 'MatriZ'. It's called Gravity Gun, and, as you might expect, it adds Half-Life 2 style Gravity Gun functionality to Los Santos's playground of mindless violence.

Here, then, is the obligatory video of Mad Shit™ happening.

As you can see, it's a pretty rough-'n-ready script—both unpolished and containing a number of bugs and glitches. Still, it lets you fire things into other things, and that sounds like a fun time.

Unfortunately, GTA 5 modding is still in a pretty precarious place, thanks largely to Rockstar's refusal to offer up a clear statement on what is and isn't acceptable. A recent update seemingly stopped mods from working, but a workaround was quickly found. In addition, the game's Steam page is currently being flooded with negative reviews in response to reports that people are being banned for using mods in single-player.

That Rockstar would want to protect GTA Online is understandable—and some recent trouble with people running scripts online shows that something needs to be done. Given the wonderful mods that appeared for GTA 4, though, here's hoping Rockstar can find a way to avoid catching single-player mod users in the crossfire.

Ta, Kotaku.
