Release Plans and Upcoming Price Increase
The premium DLC Kingdom of Rizia and the 2.0 "Amendment" update for Suzerain will be launched exclusively on PC. As a small indie studio, we have decided to focus first on the platform where our community journey began.
The 2.0 Update will launch this summer, followed by the Kingdom of Rizia premium DLC later this year.
We envision these releases as just the beginning of our long-term plan to support and expand the game through a combination of premium expansions, major free updates. In a few years, we will be launching our new game, 'The Conformist'
Our goal is to continue growing the Suzerain universe together for the years to come. In order to reflect the value that Suzerain will offer and to help us in achieving this goal, we will be raising the price of Suzerain on PC from US$14.99 to US$19.99.
We did not take this decision lightly but this price increase will help us to deliver more great free content for the game and keep increasing the value for all players on PC. We are making this announcement now to provide plenty of notice.
Furthermore, the game is currently on discount for LudoNarraCon at 70% off and we will provide a similar discount on Steam during the Summer Sale and again when the 2.0 update releases. We encourage anyone who has not yet bought the game to take advantage of these opportunities to grab it at a cheap price before the increase comes into effect.
Thank you for your support - we couldn't have done it without you. Don't forget to add Rizia to your wishlist on Steam to stay in the loop!
Citizens of Sordland, welcome to our March broadcast. As the flowers begin to bloom and the light breaks through, we're excited to share with you the latest news and updates from our Torpor Games team.
Our team has been working hard on delivering the best Suzerain experience for you throughout March. Further developments were made in the Amendment and Toras projects which we have been teasingly talking and hinting about recently.
We have made a massive re-arrangement of the narrative design of Project Toras to improve the flow and spread content with a balance while analyzing weaknesses. Certain finished elements are receiving second passes. More design work is being conducted to determine the remainder of the storylines, the steps inside them, and the final outcomes.
Additionally, new music was added to the existing experience to ensure the mood clicked with the intended design well. The team also made substantial progress on the paper prototype for a new system being built. We are excited to experiment with gameplay systems of a more open nature after a long time in written deterministic content development.
We have noticed that certain content concepts and goals for Amendment were more complicated than anticipated after we began designing them. The production realities showed that building on complexity takes much longer than adding a new element or a supportive pillar. We are keen on attempting these brave overhauls but will slot them correctly in the future.
Therefore we decided to focus on a few content cores to the Amendment project and reduced specific goals that strayed away from the target vision of the update. The community polls heavily assisted in our decision-making. We always prefer quality as much as possible when choosing between quality and quantity.
We appreciate your patience, and we're excited to say that the wait will soon be over. Down below, you can find an exclusive sneak peek of the mesmerizing music from our upcoming project, Toras. The piece is composed by the talented James Spence, whose exceptional artistry has breathed life into our game.
Now some news about our devs Anett and Ioannis, the lucky participants in the gamedev camp in the Coconat campus in Brandenburg. During the four weeks, they mainly focused on the world-building visualization as well as experimental game systems design.
Anett shared her positive experience of the Rabbit camp: "I'm very happy to have been part of this experience! I have made great connections and amazing friendships! Its a very good space to concentrate, get work done but also to relax and do great activities such as hiking, bouldering, and even ice bathing :)"
Overall, the game dev camp provided Anett and Ioannis with a unique and enriching experience to further their knowledge and skills in game development and design.
A warm welcome to Clémentine that has joined our team as the new Community Manager. She will help us communicate the latest updates on our two projects, and also be spearheading our company's overall communication strategy.
"I have previously worked with the Philharmonie de Paris, several French startups, and 20th Fox. As I embark on this new adventure with the team, I am thrilled to bring my diverse experience and skillset to the table. I am dedicated to contributing to the growth of this project, I immediately recognized a shared vision with Torpor Games. The values and message of the game and the company are inspiring."
Furthermore, we regret to inform you that there won't be an April broadcast in early May, but don't worry - we'll have some other exciting news to share with you instead!
We also want to take a moment to thank everyone who participated in the surveys from our February broadcast. Your feedback has been incredibly valuable, and we appreciate the time and effort you took to share your thoughts with us. Your feedback helps us improve our projects and ensure we're delivering the best experience possible.
For those who haven't yet filled out the survey, we encourage to do so! Your input is precious and helps us shape the future of our projects and ensures that we're meeting your needs and expectations.
Last but not least, like puzzle pieces that interlock to form a beautiful image, our community has come together to create something truly amazing. We're grateful to have such a passionate and dedicated group of individuals by our side. Thank you for making this journey so rewarding!
Citizens of Sordland, welcome to the February broadcast covering the latest developments from the Torpor Games team and some teases about the future. We will start with a more serious subject, though.
After the tragic earthquake incident in Turkey and Syria, Torpor Games donated to help the rescue efforts. We shared donation links in our socials to drive further support to the earthquake-struck regions. If you want to support the survivors as well, here are some trusted sources to donate to:
In February, Suzerain got viral in Japan, which led to a collection of tweets reaching 1.4 million+ impressions, coverage at a top digital news site, and now several let's play streams and videos. We are super happy and welcome the new community members! いらっしゃいませ
Coincidentally, our merch store sticker sheet includes a Japanese version of the company logo. You can check out the merch item here.
A player was spotted on social media with a feline cabinet advisor called Tommy. We are happy that the animal kingdom is also intrigued by the politics of Sordland.
February was very focused on increasing the development pace of Project Amendment and Toras. The development team has made substantial progress in the art department, completing several core asset tasks. Most of the base UI and UX work has reached the final stage, with only a handful of core tasks remaining. A technical sprint for highlighting, selection, and 3D animations was concluded successfully.
There were a lot of narrative design meetings and developments, with several new elements established to improve the experience of both Amendment and Toras. Audio work also has seen solid progress and is on track with the overall production requirements of both projects. A significant scene and camera blocker were removed after extensive design discussions on how to find the best implementation.
Project Toras reached the prototype stage, slowly reflecting content production in the internal test builds. We are happy with the early results, even though most of the added content is at the draft stage. Next up is the experimental work regarding a new feature. The team will create a paper prototype first before attempting a technical test. The team also started improving debugging, updating the data structure for a feature and working on the game flow.
Two of our team members got accepted to a game dev camp in Brandenburg in March. Here are the selected devs who are going. One of our freelancers will be coming from Thessaloniki, Greece, to attend the program. We will give you an update on how it went next time!
Torpor Games has a specially close relationship with the community, and the company's strategy is often informed through the feedback and comments of the player base. Therefore, we wanted to engage with the community again to understand where players stand on specific subjects. As developers, we will always make the decisions we are comfortable with, given the resources and our creative vision.
Still, our choices are always so much better with the input of the community included. This balanced collaboration between developer independence and community feedback is something special we want to continue building and fostering. Therefore, we have prepared two surveys for you to fill out.
Thank you, as always, for your constant dedication and interest in our journey. Without you, this universe wouldn't be growing. Each time we see your passion, it fuels our drive to keep pushing the quality of what we can achieve to give you extraordinary game experiences.
We'll be waiting for you in the next broadcast in early April.
Citizens of Sordland! We have started the new year very strong and we hope that you have too. These are the latest news from the Torpor team:
It's been just over 6 weeks since we launched Suzerain on Android and iOS and we couldn't be more proud of how the results are looking with currently over 220,000 installs on both platforms combined.
4,29/5* with 1,690 reviews on Google Play 4,3/5* with 551 reviews on the App Store
We have also just released the 1.0.3 patch for mobile, which adds achievements, location-based pricing displayed before billing section, and fixed some bugs such as an issue with the close button for the newspaper tab or adding a missing Bergia Special Zone Presidential decree, among other things.
Aside from the mobile launch, we have been working hard at progressing on Project Amendment and Project Toras for Suzerain, the two secret projects we revealed during the State of Torpor Games Livestream. Production has been in full swing and new content is being delivered weekly across several disciplines. We recently concluded our first internal early builds and looked forward to the next ones.
We have analyzed and identified where to develop content in the last months. Currently we are moving forward to address several issues we have always wanted to address, such as missing context, story, and revisions to existing content in Suzerain. There have also been some lore revisions as some of what exists in Suzerain feels inconsistent with the initial design intentions of our worldbuilding.
Our new art pipelines have delivered significant assets to visualize and make our game experience more beautiful. We are looking at innovative ways to increase the impact of the setting and story on the player. More work has gone into the existing assets with re-models and completely new additions. Our goal is to significantly increase the visual quality.
New audio work, such as music and sounds, continues to be created. New dynamic music systems and a new start-up music sequence are being experimented on. We will expand more on this in the upcoming months.
On some other great news, we have surpassed 6.5k Presidents on the r/suzerain subreddit. Come join us.
Last month we revealed the 1954 extended map of the Antaecean. You can now purchase it on our merch store, as well as the 1836 map which was revealed a few months ago. Note that these map prints are larger in size than the original Sordland map. Use the code ANTACEAN at checkout for a 10% discount until February 10th. This code is valid for all items in the merch store.
Finally, with Valentine's Day around the corner, we wanted to make sure you all had a way to let your favourite humans know how much you care, which is why we have also added these postcards to our merch store. With love, your Torpor Games team.
This is it for now! See you next month. Vectern sis da!

On another topic, we are very proud that The Conformist has received the highest funding amount by medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, the Berlin Media funding institution, an outstanding achievement for Torpor Games! This is a huge step towards making The Conformist happen!
To wrap up, here is an update on what the team has been working on. The development has been intensifying across the finish line of 2022 as we advance on several aspects of our products. A significant effort went into ensuring the last release check on our mobile version to alleviate the most critical bugs and analyze the remaining issues to address post-launch to avoid jeopardizing overall stability at launch. We are happy to have deployed an app on iOS and Google devices for the first time in our company's history and with success.
Significant progress has been made on the UI and UX front of Project Amendment, with multiple improvements in how the players experience the game. We have also addressed the sections where overall communication regarding the experience was missing, and have acted to develop new elements to immerse and inform our players. Efforts also went into assessing where we can make the most impact with additions to the game. A significant data structure update has been completed, with data conversions and setup renewals remaining on Articy and Unity. A 3D optimization pass was made to improve the frame rates on lower-end devices. Plenty of advancements were made in the 3D pipelines with asset creation and with new visualization work, increasing the visual quality of the scene.
Project Toras, meanwhile, went through significant iterations in the narrative design and story work. A few massive diagrams were completed to outline narrative design elements for internal and external affairs. We have detailed several lore elements where the detail was missing and have consolidated the story setup and focus. Currently, we are developing our designed new storylines with more nuanced content. Additionally, a new experimental feature for Project Toras has entered the concept and design phase. We are looking to create a prototype of it soon. Multiple new music tracks and sounds were added to the project that we are pleased about. The first few painted art pieces have also been worked on. Overall, we are full steam ahead with Project Toras work and are excited about the steps ahead in 2023.
Finally, we celebrated the 2nd year anniversary of Suzerain on December 4th. For this reason, Suzerain is currently -60% off on Steam for the very first time! Let your friends and family who haven't played the game know. The discount will run until the 21st of this month.
We are currently looking at the bug reports and we are working on a patch that should be available next week. If you encounter any issues during your mobile run, you can report them on our Discord (#game-bug-reports) or through the contact form. Make sure to let us know which device, operating system and OS version you are using.
As we have mentioned previously, this is the first time Torpor Games self-publishes a game. This applies only to the mobile version, so a significant portion of the proceeds will come directly to us directly. For this reason, purchasing the game on mobile will be a great way to support us. Additionally, if you can leave a review so that we can continue moving up in rank in the app stores! Danki!
