A lot of you have been asking what’s next for Paleo Pines and we wanted to provide our community with an update on the challenges we are facing. The sad truth is, the future is uncertain.

For the better part of this year we’ve been working behind the scenes to create a plan for the next iteration of Paleo Pines, filled with stunning new regions, quirky new NPCs, plenty more adorable dinosaurs, plus eggs, babies and - yes - multiplayer. The job after launch seemed simple - listen to our community, provide a roadmap full of updates and DLC to ensure that our players can continue to enjoy the existing world… and double-down on that enjoyment with the plan for bigger, better, shinier Paleo Pines for you to enjoy with friends and family.

We've been searching high and low for a production partner, one that felt your love and passion to help us bring the next Paleo Pines to life. On several occasions in our journey, we were within a few small steps of the finish line, only to have circumstances beyond our control cause the future to fall through.
This isn't happening just to us. It seems the whole indie game scene is facing a sudden drying up of publishing and investment opportunities. Thanks to the unwavering dedication of our small team and the massive love from all of you, we've been able to support the first year of Paleo Pines on a shoestring budget.

We’ve managed to keep the lights on… until now. Unless we can find a partner who is keen to see the Paleo Pines universe grow, we won’t be able to keep our team together for much longer.

So, we’re making our situation public. Here's how you can help:

We’ve been listening to your feedback about shipping and have adjusted the shipping costs throughout the store and made three sub-areas with specific products produced in Australia, Europe, and the United Kingdom so that your products will ship locally!

To find the products that are produced in your country, head to the special menu item labelled Local Products. This should help to minimise the shipping costs for those products further!


If this trial works, we will implement this throughout the shop with as many products as we can along with more regions.

Big Changes
• Added the Trick or Treat and Spooktacular DLCs.
• Added a new 'strength' boost which makes it possible to dig up and replant fully grown trees on the ranch, including the pine trees.
• Added special content which is active during the week of Halloween:
◦ Jack-o'-lantern decor item.
◦ Albino and Melanistic ultra-rares are more likely to spawn.


Smaller Fixes

• Fixed particle colors when eating human food.
• Fixed bad nav on several rocks in Dapplewood.
• Optimized windmill and pine tree models.
• Fixed errors when inspecting Willem or Squillem with the journal.
• Fixed the cutscene triggering too early in the "All the Colors of the Rainbow" quest.
• Fixed an infinite money exploit involving the Small Water Bowl item.
• Fixed a hang when opening the roster if notes had been entered for Lucky.
• Paths can no longer be dug up and destroyed by tilling with a dino.
• Fixed being able to place paths in places you couldn't dig them up from (e.g. the outer ranch fences). You can now dig up these paths.
• Fixed being able to attempt to shovel poop with a full inventory if it was on a biome tile.
• Fixed errors after adding a flourish to the cooking pot if any of the first three inventory slots were empty.
• Foods which provide multiple boosts are now displayed correctly in the journal and cooking UI.
• Tweaked several dino petting poses.
• Various small optimizations, especially on rainy days.
• Another possible fix for the "Why Can't I Hold All These Dinos?" achievement (Xbox only).


Any bug reports 🐛 made over the weekend will be reviewed as soon as we're back in the office on Monday!

This DLC is all about a brand new nighttime adventure! Explore Paleo Pines after dark, collect treats from your townsfolk pals, and uncover a mysterious trickster who's up to no good! There's even a cool mini-game, awesome rewards, and a chance to befriend some spooky-colored dinos that look like they crawled straight out of a Halloween movie. 🎃

Want to make your ranch the spookiest place on the block? The Spooktacular DLC has everything you need! Decorate your land with spooky scarecrows, bubbling cauldrons, and more. You can even get in on the fun with some fang-tastic outfits for your rancher! Dress up and show off your Halloween spirit! 🎃😱

We've seen some discussion about the DLCs and their potential content, and while we're not ready to start posting about that just yet, you don't have long to wait! 📅

Trick or Treat, Spooktacular, and September's free update will all be launching on our One Year Anniversary, September 26th! 🎉🎃🎆

We've had some little teaser videos across our socials which I'll link at the bottom of this post for the curious 👀 and we'll be spotlighting some of our wonderful community content creators who will be streaming including the new content from the 20th onwards, after the embargo is lifted!
