Welcome back!

It's been a while since I've brought you guys some new gamemodes, so I'm proud to introduce Capture the Flag! —— Along with a new map designed explicitly around it

There won't be an update next week as I'll be directing my efforts to marketing Paint Warfare.


Capture the Flag

Race against your opponent to capture as many flags from the enemy into your base in 15 minutes!

Honestly, I prefer this game mode over the traditional FFA, so I'm incredibly hyped to announce it in this new update.

Anubis Map




Face off among the gods in this gorgeous new Egyptian-inspired map! With heaps of cover and multiple routes to the other flag, this map is perfect for the new game mode.

New Tutorial
The old tutorial missed a lot of key tips for improving with the movement, so I've been working with a new Japanese voice actor to revamp the existing tutorial.




This change probably won't affect a lot of the existing players, but if you'd like to redo the new tutorial, type /tutorial while in game.

Developer Note: Hyperspeed Boosts



With extremely fast movement at Paint Warfare's core, I've added these super speed boosts around every map to speed up gameplay.

In our closed testing so far, these have been insanely fun and I'm so excited to introduce them to you guys :)

Custom Game Improvements
I know a lot of you love to play with your friends, so I've made some improvements to (private) custom games.


  • Added match timer option
  • Added spoon only mode option
  • Added sniper only override option
  • Added double HP option
  • You can now have bots in private lobbies
  • Private lobbies will no longer give you XP
  • Shortened room code length

NEW ABILITY — Invisibility
Added a requested 2s invisibility ability!

Polish and Game Improvements
  • Added back spoon only mode to FFA

  • Added 'floor is lave' to FFA
  • Increased map height. Changed map border on most maps (hemisphere —> cylinder)
  • Better Armoury UI & improvements
  • Merged the US & EU servers into just 'us-east' for the time being. This will increase player counts, and most of you guys seem to be somewhere near that vicinity.
  • Fixed flickering in Dragon Valley
  • Fixed a rank bug in the profile
  • Fixed an issue with hats part of the Supporter Pack & Dino DLCs

Turret Balancing
  • Decreased turret fire rate (2 —> 1)
  • Lowered damage (10 —> 7)
  • Capped the maximum number of turrets per player to 2

Sniper Balancing
The full accuracy noscope feature on the sniper felt like something that distinguished the sniper from snipers in other games.

I've buffed the accuracy of the sniper when its unscoped.

  • Removed the match timer on all FFA maps
  • Lowered fog on blizzard

Hello!

Thank you everyone for reporting the bugs in yesterday's release. I put together a quick patch today covering all of the bugs you guys encountered.

Let me know on the discord if you find any more!

Gamemodes
  • Fixed an issue preventing games from restarting
  • Fixed infinite loops of game over
  • Fixed the match timer displaying absurdly high amounts. All maps now have 15-minute games
  • Fixed an issue where first place would be placed second in FFA games

Turrets
I've thoroughly retested the turrets. Fixed 3 major issues

  • Fixed turret targeting (it was targeting the furthest player instead of the closest)
  • Fixed turret accidentally hitting/ damaging its owner
  • Fixed a turret kill giving all other players in the lobby points

Other
  • The sniper scope should now work correctly on Apple Silicon based macs
  • Fixed graphics quality continuously resetting
  • Fixed minor bugs in the armoury
  • Fixed 'V' accidentally toggling voice chat

  • Hard capped the number of bots per map at 1 (there were previously more in Factory). For full transparency, these are used when there are huge dips in players (night time) in both the EU and US regions to make the game more fun.

Paint Warfare With Friends!
The top-voted feature this week was for more systems to play with friends.



  • Since introducing MMR-based matchmaking, I unintentionally made it difficult to play with your friends. You can now directly join your friend's games
    1. Esc —> Get Lobby Code
    2. Copy the code & send it over to your friend
    3. They can paste it in here ^ :)

  • Added private lobbies

Huge Gamemode Improvements
I've made some huge improvements to both Teams & FFA

FFA
  • Added match timers
  • Added a game-end leaderboard & a score bonus multiplier based on the final standings

Teams
  • Added match timers
  • Huge polish & QoL improvements to the mode
  • Added a game-end leaderboard and win/lose

Turret Ability
I made a new ability that makes you rethink the way you play.




With this ability, you can place up to 3 paintball turrets at once, but you have to get a kill before placing each one.

The turrets can be destroyed by enemies with one shot. All of your turrets are destroyed if you die.

I'm excited to see how this will open up new gameplay opportunities with people hiding turrets in funny places, dropping turrets from the sky, or taking control of entire sectors of the map in Team Deathmatch.

Hey all!

Sorry about the delay with this update, there's been a lot of smaller features I've been putting together :)


New Abilities!
I've added 3 new abilities.



  • Super speed boots
  • Heal
  • Jetpack

To prevent this from getting overwhelming in combination with the existing abilities, there's now a new ability equip/unlock system.


New Ranking, Currency & Daily Challenges



I've been rethinking the way ranking should work in the game; grinding rank can be repetitive, so I've introduced a set of 10 daily challenges (more coming soon).

I've also changed the key system to coins to accommodate for the new changes and future changes I have planned.

Your keys will be converted to coins (with a free bonus for being a player before this update)


Feedback on Bots


Thank you for your feedback on the bots. I agree they weren't ideal.

As we're growing our community & player base, they're no longer necessary so I'm removing them. The only chance you'll see a bot in this update is when there are no players.


QoL
I've been focused on QoL this update— and some huge new content updates are planned for later this month.

  • Keybinds
  • Sniper aim sensitivity slider
  • Improved rank related UI
  • Huge gun rebalancing, added inaccuracy the sniper when not aimed
  • Added a kick (F)
  • Added paint splatter (thanks for the suggestion)
  • Improved the verticality in the maps

  • Added US servers, with a region select if you want to play with friends on a different region
  • MMR-based matchmaking

  • Improved the respawning screen

New Minigames | FACTORY MAP ONLY
I added three new HUGE gamemodes to spice things up.
They're exclusive to the factory map so we can increase the player counts there for now :)

Capture the Cow


Take control and capture the holy cow with your team in this game mode, to regenerate health as you hold it!

Mines

Push around mines and drop them on your enemies to explode them!

Floor is lava


The classic game; now in Factory :)

Team Deathmatch
I've made some huge changes to team deathmatch to make it more enjoyable for you all

  • 'Blue' team is now your teammates

  • Scoring is now based on kills

  • You can now see your teammates through walls


Gunplay
To help add more depth to the gunplay, I've added a new procedural recoil system with unique recoil patterns for

  • AK (Snake)
  • Frenzy
  • Minigun

This should make using these weapons more enjoyable and balance them out a bit.


QoL
  • Improved UIs
  • Bug fixes
  • New disconnection screen
  • Patch notes
  • Sped up match joining speed ~200%
  • So much more!
