Update Version
PC (Steam): 1.4.0.20 (27.5 GB) ---
One Wasteland
With today’s update, we’re excited to introduce One Wasteland to Fallout 76, which allows creatures to dynamically adjust their levels up or down on the fly to more closely match each player they encounter.
If multiple players all come across the same enemy at the same time, its level will simultaneously rise for the higher-level players and drop for the lower-level players.
In addition to their levels, each creature’s damage, health, and resistances, as well as the loot they drop and the XP they award, will also better match each player.
This means that all players who are adventuring together can have an impact on any given combat encounter, even if there is a large level gap between them.
While creatures will still have minimum and maximum levels, such as a max of level 50 in The Forest, they are now much more flexible overall.
One Wasteland opens up more opportunities to adventure anywhere in Appalachia, whether alone or with your friends. It also smooths out some of the early game bumps for new players, allows higher-level players to get max-level loot in previously lower-level regions, and should offer more consistent combat encounters for everyone. Catch even more details by reading our recent One Wasteland Preview article on Fallout.com.
New Season, Board, & Rewards
Join Armor Ace and the Power Patrol in their march against the oppressive Subjugator and his army of Red Viper minions during Fallout 76 Season 2, which begins today!
Season 2 brings the all-new “Armor Ace” S.C.O.R.E.board to the game, featuring 100 ranks for you to achieve during the next 10 weeks.
We’ve added a host of rewards that you will unlock as you rank up, including new Power Armor paints, Armor and Weapon Skins, themed cosmetics, C.A.M.P. items, in-game currencies, Perk Card Packs, and more.
We’ve made several adjustments this Season that you may want to keep in mind as you dive in:
Rank-ups will be purchasable immediately, so those who would like to rank up using Atoms can join the fight to crush the Red Vipers starting today.
We’ve implemented some new Daily and Weekly Challenges, such as Daily Ops themed Challenges, to offer you even more day-to-day variety as you rank up.
We’re also adding more Weeklies to the Challenge lineup so you have more flexibility to progress on your schedule.
Finally, we’ve made several of last Season’s rewards, like Lunchboxes, the Ammo Converter, available at Gold Bullion vendors so players who missed them have another opportunity to unlock them. Head to the Seasons page on Fallout.com and read our recent Season 2 Preview article to get more information about Season 2, as well as a look at the rewards that will be up for grabs.
Daily Ops
Put your skills to the test by taking on instanced, randomized, and repeatable encounters called “Daily Ops.” Daily Ops are fairly challenging, and so we recommend them for characters who are level 50+. Our first Game Mode for Daily Ops is called “Uplink,” which will require you to secure a series of Uplinks to track down and destroy enemies that are threats to Appalachia.
In Daily Ops, you’ll square off against enemies from a single faction who are affected by a unique “mutation,” which will make them deadlier and more challenging to take down.
Complete your objectives, eliminate the enemy threat, and you will be rewarded for your efforts to make Appalachia a safe place for everyone.
To join a Daily Op, open the Map screen and find the new World Activity tracker we’ve added in the lower-left corner.
Select a Daily Op from the list to learn more about it, including which location, enemies, and mutations you’ll face.
Enter Daily Ops directly from the tracker by clicking the “Join” button.
You can take on Daily Ops alone or in a team of up to four other players.
Each day, Daily Ops will feature a fresh combination of location, enemy faction, and enemy mutations to keep you on your toes.
Locations: The Burrows, The Burning Mine, Valley Galleria, or Vault 94
Enemy Factions: Super Mutants, Blood Eagles, or Robots
Enemy Mutations:
Piercing Gaze: This mutation is always applied to enemies the “Uplink” Daily Ops mode, and gives them greatly enhanced perception of players.
Volatile: Enemies will explode on death
Active Camouflage: Enemies will be cloaked when not attacking
Resilient: Enemies can only be killed by a melee attack
Freezing Touch: Enemy attacks will freeze players
Since you will be facing constant combat and deadly threats during your Operations, we’ve reduced the condition damage taken by your weapons and armor by 50% while in a Daily Op. Like the event “A Colossal Problem,” creatures in Daily Ops will drop ammo based on the weapons you’re using when you take them down. This will help keep your ammo reserves topped off through lots of combat. You can repeat Daily Ops as often as you’d like each day, and you will receive a base set of rewards every time you complete one. However, there are three additional reward tiers that you can reach once per day by completing a Daily Op within certain time limits:
Initiate Tier: 16 minutes or less
Paladin Tier: 12 minutes or less
Elder Tier: 8 minutes or less
The higher the tier you achieve, the higher your chances to get better rewards, including more XP, larger amounts of in-game currencies, legendary items, and even brand-new items like the War Glaive, which is a customizable two-handed melee weapon. After finishing a Daily Op, you’ll be able to view an Operation Report, which shows you how fast you managed to complete it, which reward tiers you reached, and a list of the rewards you earned (except for XP and currencies).
Legendary Perks
Legendary Perks are new high-level Perk Cards for players who have reached level 50+, which will help you add even more power and build diversity to your characters. We’ve added a new “Legendary Perks” button to the top of the normal Perk Card Menu, which you can use to access and modify your Legendary Perk Slots and Cards. You will unlock your first Legendary Perk Slot at level 50, and up to 6 slots in total at certain level milestones after that: 75, 100, 150, 200, and 300.
If you already have high-level characters, they will immediately have access to one Legendary Perk Slot for each of the above milestones they've reached.
For example, a level 250 character will have access to 5 Legendary Perk slots, and will gain a 6th slot at level 300.
One Legendary Perk Card can be equipped to each slot, and you can unequip them at any time in exchange for 1 Perk Coin (more on Perk Coins below).
Legendary Perk Slots are account-wide, and will be available to all of your characters as soon as you unlock them.
Even your characters below level 50 will be able to equip Legendary Perks in these slots, which gives them access to more power at an earlier stage of the game than your higher-level characters had at that level.
With Legendary Perks, we’re introducing “Perk Coins,” which you can use to increase the power of your Legendary Perk Cards by upgrading them.
Earn Perk Coins by scrapping your unused normal Perk Cards. Each Perk Card you scrap will grant you 2 Perk Coins per rank.
For example: When you scrap a rank 1 Perk Card, you’ll receive 2 Perk Coins, and scrapping a rank 3 Perk Card will award 6 Perk Coins.
Each Legendary Perk Card can be upgraded up to three times, at a price of 50, 100, and 150 Perk Coins to reach ranks 2, 3, and 4, respectively.
While Legendary Perk Slots you’ve unlocked are account-wide, your Legendary Perk Selections and upgrades are separate for each of your characters.
To help give your Perk Coin collection a boost, we’ve added a “Become Legendary” Challenge to the Character Challenge Menu, which awards 50 Perk Coins to characters who reach level 50.
Please note: If your characters are already level 50+, this Challenge will already be completed for them the next time you log in, and the 50 Perk Coin reward will be added to your Perk Coin total automatically.
Design Updates
General
- Fast Travel: It is now free to Fast Travel to Foundation and Crater.
Combat
- Bonus Damage: We’ve changed the way that damage bonuses are calculated so that they now apply additively instead of multiplicatively. -- Please Note: While stacking damage bonuses will now have a smaller overall effect on your damage output than before, these changes will make the resulting damage much more predictable and allow for future improvements. This is very important for the health of the game going forward. It will also create better opportunities for us to make smarter and more effective balance changes. -- We are still evaluating feedback we gathered on these changes from the PTS, but we also welcome your thoughts on how different weapons and builds feel after today’s update so that we can make additional adjustments in the future.
Items
- Alien Blaster: Damage increased by 30%. - Legendary Weapons: The Assassin’s legendary attribute now applies its bonus damage to human NPCs. - Secret Service Armor: Plans for Light and Ultra-Light Limb Mods for Secret Service Armor have been added, and they are now purchasable from Regs in Vault 79. - Shishkebab: Now deals Fire damage instead of Energy damage.
Perks
- Modern Renegade: Increased Modern Renegade's chance to cripple limbs from 2%/3%/4% to 4%/8%/12%. - Tank Killer: Pistols now benefit from the Tank Killer Perk Card.
User Interface
- Public Teams: We've renamed the "Building" team to "Casual" and removed the Casual team bonus. In its place, we’ve added a “Daily Ops” team type, which offers bonus XP for completing Daily Ops (+25% bonus XP to start, +100% bonus XP for a fully bonded team). -- We did this in part because it is not possible to build in Public Teammates' C.A.M.P.s., and partly because most players were using the Building team the way we had intended Casual to be used anyway. -- Removing the Casual team option, it made room for us to add the new Daily Ops team type, which we feel players will find more useful following today’s update.
World
- Vault 94: Is now accessible during world exploration in Adventure Mode and Private Worlds. - Vault 51: We've added a new no-C.A.M.P. zone around Vault 51's exterior in preparation for future content. ---

We’re releasing Update 20 today, which kicks off The Legendary Run, the first Season in our new progression and reward system. It also includes Public Teams, a new social system that makes teaming up easier and more beneficial than ever. This update also brings a number of additional improvements and bug fixes to Fallout 76, so be sure to read on to catch the patch notes.
Update 20 Highlights
76 Seasons: Earn S.C.O.R.E. to rank up and claim tons of stellar new rewards with our all-new progression system, which brings a major overhaul for Challenges.
The Legendary Run: Our first 10-week Season begins today! Race across the galaxy against the evil Dr. Zorbo and unlock unique cosmetics, in-game currencies, and much more along the way.
Public Teams: Use the Social Menu to easily find, join, or form a Public Teams that bring players together under shared team goals and offer themed in-game buffs.
Today’s patch adds the new 76 Seasons system to the game, which includes a new account-wide progression system that will overhaul our current Challenges and offer you lots of in-game rewards. Our first Season is called “The Legendary Run” and everyone can join in the fun and start earning rewards for free immediately following today’s patch maintenance.
We’ve added a new option on the Main Menu for The Legendary Run, which you can access to view the Season 1 progression screen, keep track of your progress, and preview all available rewards.
The Legendary Run progression screen features a Captain Cosmos-inspired boardgame, in which you will race across the galaxy against the evil Dr. Zorbo.
Your progression is represented as spaceship gamepiece on the board. Can you beat Dr. Zorbo to the finish line before the 10-week Season comes to an end?
You will begin “The Legendary Run” at Rank 1, and you can advance your position on the board by earning S.C.O.R.E. through your Daily and Weekly Challenges. These include completing Public Events and leveling up your character.
Every time you reach a new Rank, you will be able to claim a new reward, like unique armors, C.A.M.P. items, weapon skins, Power Armor paints, consumables, Perk Card Packs, Atoms—even in-game currencies, like Scrip, Caps, or Gold Bullion!
There are 100 Ranks to achieve in total during Season 1, and more than 40 new cosmetic items up for grabs along the way.
All players will play using the same progression and reward path, which means everyone is working towards the same rewards through the entire season.
Starting two weeks after The Legendary Run begins, players will have the option to spend 150 Atoms to immediately unlock the next rank and claim its reward. Please note: Ranks must be purchased individually and in order.
Take on new Challenges
Daily and Weekly Challenges have received significant updates with today’s patch.
Daily and Weekly Challenges now award S.C.O.R.E. instead of Atoms, and completing them is the primary way to progress during a Season.
Nuclear Winter Daily and Weekly Challenges now award S.C.O.R.E. in addition to their other rewards.
We’ve streamlined the Daily and Weekly Challenges you receive so that they are more straightforward and easier to complete.
We’ve also changed the number of Challenges you receive on a daily and weekly basis so that they are more predictable and consistent.
You can access your Daily and Weekly Challenges directly from The Legendary Run progression screen while you’re in a game world.
If you would like to keep an eye on your progress toward specific Challenges, you can add them to the Challenge Tracker from the Challenge menu.
Lifetime Challenges, like Character, Social, World Challenges, and etc., have not been changed. They still grant the same Atom rewards that they did prior to today’s update.
Claim Your Prizes
After ranking up, head back to The Legendary Run progression screen to claim your rewards directly from the corresponding Rank on the gameboard.
When you unlock consumables, like Repair Kits, or in-game currencies, like Caps, they will only apply to one of your characters. Make sure to select the character that you want to receive the reward.
Ranks are account bound and their rewards cannot be earned more than once per Season.
Learn more about the rewards you can unlock during The Legendary Run, including Lunchbox consumables, the Ammo Converter, and more by visiting our recent Season 1 Kickoff article on Fallout.com.
Public Teams
Our new Public Teams system makes grouping up with others easier than ever, and offers special bonuses to players who choose to play together toward a shared team goal.
Join a Public Team!
We’ve added a new “Public Teams” tab to the top of the Social Menu that you can select to browse all Public Teams in your current world, join one, or create a team of your own.
Every Public Team has its own Team Goal set by the Team Leader, like Exploration or Events, which can help you find like-minded players to join.
Public Teams can have up to four members at once, so as long as there is an open spot you can click one of the teams in the list to join it immediately.
You can also open the Map to see where current Public Teams are in Appalachia, and join them from there.
Team Leaders display special icons showing their current goal, and you can click on them to view additional details before choosing to join the team.
Create Your Own Team
To start your own Public Team, hit the “Create New Team” button in the Public Teams tab in the Social Menu.
Next, select a goal for your team. There are currently six to choose from: Hunting, Roleplay, Events, Exploration, Building, or Casual.
Once you’ve selected a goal, all players in your current world will receive a notification that a new Public Team is available.
Your Public Team notification will not appear to players you’ve blocked and vice versa.
Multiple Public Teams of the same type can exist at once, so you can choose any Team Goal you wish.
As the Team Leader, you can freely change your Team Goal at any time using the Social Menu.
If needed, you also have the ability to kick or block any players from your Public Team.
You can also invite your friends or other players to form a private team with you, and then convert it into a Public Team at a later time using the Social Menu. Please note: Teams formed from the game’s Main Menu or by direct invite will always begin as private teams.
Team Goals and Bonds
While on a Public Team, you will receive a small buff that’s themed to align with your current Team Goal.
Over time, you and your new teammates will form Bonds, and each bonded teammate you have will add another stack to your Team Goal buff.
Here are all of the current Team Goals and their associated bonuses: - Hunting – Bonus: +25% XP for Legendary Kills (100% for a fully bonded team) - Roleplay – Bonus: +1 Charisma (+4 for a fully bonded team) - Events – Bonus: +25% XP for completing Events (100% for a fully bonded team) - Exploration – Bonus: +1 Endurance (+4 for a fully bonded team) - Building – Bonus: +1 Intelligence (+4 for a fully bonded team) - Casual – Bonus: +1 Luck (+4 for a fully bonded team)
While you are on a Public Team, there are a few additional things you may wish to keep in mind:
Your teammates will likely be focused on their current Team Goal. Be sure to join a team that matches your interests, or create a team of your own if you don’t find the type of team you are looking for in your world.
You and your teammates will not be able to build in each other’s C.A.M.P.s. However, you can still do this by forming or joining a normal “private” team.
You also cannot open locked doors or containers that your Public Teammates have built without becoming Wanted. Catch additional information about this system by reading our recent Public Teams Overview article on Fallout.com.
Design Updates
Team PVP: we’ve adjusted the rules of team PVP for both private and Public Teams so that a team member who engages in PVP with an outside player no longer also flags their teammates for PVP. - Instead, teammates must start PVP combat with the outside player individually to join the fight. - This will help prevent players from being dragged into PVP combat that they didn’t initiate.

Map: Teammate markers on the Map have been enlarged and animated to make them easier to identify. Additionally, teammate names and player icons now only appear on your Map when you hover over their Map markers.
Settings: The Chat Volume audio setting is now completely independent of the Master Volume setting. - This should improve cases where players were having trouble hearing others over voice chat. Customize Your Allies
Starting today, you can now share your wardrobe with your Allies and swap their outfits to your heart’s content with Ally Customization.
When interacting with an Ally in your C.A.M.P., a new “customize” option will now appear that you can use to change their clothing.
--> Outfits, Headwear, Costumes, Armor—If you can wear it, then so can your Ally! The only current exceptions are Power Armor and Weapons.
--> Anything you dress your Ally in is purely cosmetic. They will not receive any buffs or bonuses from the apparel they wear.
Additionally, when viewing another player’s Ally, its name will be adjusted to include the name of the C.A.M.P. owner, e.g.: <PlayerName>’s Ally.
Please note that scrapping an Ally Station will revert that Ally to their default outfit. Allies will also appear to be in their default outfit if they are in an instance with you.
Hunt for the Treasure Hunter
Mole Miners are searching for riches around Appalachia, and you can hunt them down to claim their loot for yourself in a new series of limited-time “Hunt for the Treasure Hunter” events we’re introducing with Update 19. Treasure Hunter Mole Miners
Use your keen tracking senses to hunt down Treasure Hunter Mole Miners to collect their Mole Miner Pails, which contain all of the loot they’ve been hoarding.
--> Treasure Hunter Mole Miners are legendary creatures, and you will hear them when they’re nearby.
Treasure Hunter Mole Miners can drop rewards from one of three different tiers: Dusty Mole Miner Pails (low), Mole Miner Pails (medium), and Ornate Mole Miner Pails (high).
--> The higher quality the Pail, the better chances for rare loot, including Outfits, Mounted Head Plans, a new Backpack Plan, and the Marine Armor Helmet Plan.
--> Pails can be traded and sold to other players, but cannot be sold to NPC vendors.
Craft Your Own Mole Miner Pails
While a Treasure Hunter event is live, Vendors around Appalachia will sell Empty Mole Miner Pails in exchange for Caps.
--> Use Empty Pails, along with a few additional materials, to craft full Mole Miner Pails of low, medium, or high-quality.
--> You can give or sell crafted Pails to other players, or keep them for yourself.
Head to the Ash Heap on May 21!
The first Hunt for the Treasure Hunter event will take place from May 21 – 25 in the Ash Heap region of Appalachia.
Future Hunt for the Treasure Hunter events will each occur in a different region.
Fasnacht Parade Marches Back to Helvetia
Starting next week, you can travel to Helvetia to take part in the Fasnacht Seasonal Event by helping the local Protectrons prepare for the town's annual celebration and parade.
--> Help the bots by hanging decorations, gathering ingredients for a feast, or playing musical instruments, among other activities, before the timer expires.
--> If you and your event mates complete the preparations in time, the bots will line up at the center of town to begin the parade.
Successfully guide the marchers to the end of their parade route, and you will be rewarded with loot!
--> The more marchers who survive, the higher your chances at rare loot, which may include Fasnacht-themed C.A.M.P. plans and a chance to earn a fancy Fasnacht mask.
--> We’ve added a number of festive new masks this year, and adjusted their drop rates following community feedback. While some are still less common than others, they should drop more often this time.
--> You can also trade your Fasnacht Masks to other players, if you wish.
Fasnacht Parade will begin every hour at the top of the hour starting on May 25. The event will last for a full week, so you'll have plenty of chances join in the celebration!
Design Updates
Automatic Item Name Improvements With this update, we’ve improved how the game automatically names your weapons and armors based on their mods, legendary attributes, and Atomic Shop paints.
Going forward, automatically generated names will appear in a much more consistent order, and they will reliably include an item’s main attributes.
Additionally, Atomic Shop paint and skin names no longer overwrite the item’s primary legendary effect name.
Items should now generally follow this naming convention: Primary Legendary Attribute Name + Atomic Shop Cosmetic Name + Mod Name + Weapon Name
If you have a legendary Gatling Gun with the Black Knight paint and a Prime Receiver, for example, its automatically generated name should now be: Anti-Armor Black Knight Prime Gatling Gun
Keep in mind that you can still give your items custom names, which will override their automatically generated names.
Please note: Given the many combinations that are possible through all the different mods, legendary effects, Atomic Shop paints, and item types, there may cases where new item names appear incorrect.
For example, certain elements may appear out of order, or might be missing from the name.
These are visual issues, and all your mods should still function correctly. Please let us know if you spot any naming bugs on your gear after today, and we will squash them.
Backpack Appearance Updates We’ve improved Backpack customization so that you can now apply different appearances to your
Backpacks as skins—no more crafting required!
Head to an Armor Workbench and use the modify menu to swap the appearance of your existing Backpack with any skins you’ve unlocked through quests, events, or the Atomic Shop.
Skins can now be applied to Small Backpacks, as well for those who have not yet unlocked the normal Backpack Plan by completing the “Order of the Tadpole” quest.
You can apply skins to your existing Backpacks, as well as any new ones you craft.
Art and Animation
BBQ Grills: Get hungry! When using a BBQ Grill, your character will now appear to flip and grill some tasty steaks.
Grognak’s Throne: We’ve added a new animation that will play when sitting in Grognak’s Throne so that you can survey your land with the royal confidence.

Players who own the Liberty Prime Power Armor can now craft the silent version of the helmet at a Power Armor Station.

Fallout 76 Now Available on Steam
Calling all PC players! Fallout 76, including the Wastelanders update, is now available for play on Steam in addition to the Bethesda.net launcher.
If you already play Fallout 76 on PC via Bethesda.net, all of your progress, Atomic Shop items, and friends will still be waiting for you if you decide to play through Steam.
o Please note: Atom balances and Fallout 1st memberships will not carry over, but any items you buy using Atoms will.
Now through April 28, if you join us on Steam you will also unlock the Fallout Classic Collection—a bundle that includes Fallout 1, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics—for free!
It’s been a year since the door to Vault 76 rolled open on Reclamation Day. A lot has changed in Appalachia since you and other Vault Dwellers began rebuilding. There are many new people to meet and things to discover as you continue your adventures.
Here is an overview of the major additions Wastelanders brings to you:
NPCs and Dialogue
A whole host of new people have arrived in Appalachia, seeking their fortunes or just a safe place to live. These NPCs can be found all over the place. Some of them you can talk to and have interactive conversations.
The mechanics of dialogue are similar to Fallout 3 – you have a variety of choices, S.P.E.C.I.A.L. checks, and options available to you contextually.
A single player response can have any number of choices available, if there are more choices than fit the display you can scroll down to see them all.
Additionally, full conversations have been added to many of the original NPCs of Fallout 76—characters like Rose, MODUS, and the Grafton Mayor (and more) can be engaged in dialogue.
The arrival of new people in Appalachia means there are many new adventures to be had. Wastelanders brings an entirely new story to Fallout 76 that you can uncover and explore as you complete new main quests.
Just outside of Vault 76, you can dive into the Wastelanders story and meet Lacey and Isela, who will guide you to experience the Wayward quest line.
At level 20, the full main quest opens in Sutton. It will get you acquainted with the two largest factions in Appalachia – the Raiders and Settlers.
During the Main Quest you will have to pick which side you work with, but for quite some time you can do quests for both factions until you hit a point of no return.
The original Fallout 76 main quest is still available, but expect new touches of life. Both with new NPCs and full dialogue with existing NPCs.
Please Note: To accommodate new quests and story content, some new no-C.A.M.P. zones have been added to locations in the world.
If your C.A.M.P. was in one of these areas and can no longer be placed, you will be notified on joining a world, and you will be able to move your C.A.M.P. for free.
The Raiders
The Raiders are in part survivors that fled Appalachia, who have now returned to reclaim land they believe is rightfully theirs. They’ve built a base of operations, called Crater, at the Crashed Space Station.
Initially, if you encounter Raiders in the wild they will be hostile and attack you. Even in Crater, expect a chilly reception—their vendors won’t deal with you, and they’ll bring the opposite of the welcome wagon.
Eventually, you will learn more about them and can broker a peace with them (and if you want, their friendship in time).
The Settlers
The Settlers are a collection of survivors gathered by some construction workers from the Washington D.C. area. When they heard there was land, they caravanned to Appalachia and repurposed existing structures at Spruce Knob to construct Foundation.
The Settlers are happy to speak and trade with you right away. Like the Raiders, you can get to know the Settlers better over time and become an ally to them.
Ward will offer a Daily Quest that can help you make a good impression with these new-comers.
Wastelanders features some new exciting weapons, armors, and other items. You can unlock these items via the new Gold Bullion system.
After completing the Main Quest, you will gain access to Gold Bullion, a new in-game currency. o Gold Bullion can be gathered by exchanging Treasury Notes at Gold Press Machines, up to a daily limit. o Treasury Notes can be earned from Wastelanders daily quests and by completing Public Events. o Gold Bullion can also be purchased directly from a vendor in the Wayward using Caps, up to a weekly limit.
There are three Gold Bullion Vendors: One at Crater, one at Foundation, and another in a location you’ll unlock during the main story. Each vendor will offer you a different set of new Wastelanders items in exchange for Gold Bullion.
Faction Reputation
Some of the Wastelanders gear is only available as you become better friends with the Settlers and Raiders through the new Reputation System. o Gain reputation with these factions by completing story quests for them, making in-game decisions, and by doing their daily quests. o Items you can get this way include weapons like the Gauss Shotgun or Gauss Minigun, C.A.M.P. items like Farmable Tiles, and even the yummy Appalachia treat—Pepperoni Rolls, among others.
Another exciting addition to Wastelanders, Allies are NPCs you will encounter in the world who can move into your C.A.M.P., help protect it, and keep you company.
Allies also provide adventuring opportunities through daily quests they offer.
Two of the Allies are unique. Both have a mini-quest line, romance opportunities, and offer the chance to really get to know some interesting characters. o Once you reach level 10, strike out to the Ash Heap or the Mire in order to meet them!
Riding Shotgun is a new event at Big Bend Tunnel East. Take part by speaking with Vinny Costa near the entrance to the Tunnel. He offers the event every so often, so check in with him regularly if you want to help him out.
Merchants from the Blue Ridge Caravan want to pass through Big Bend Tunnel with their wares, but devious Blood Eagles are lying in wait, hoping to make an easy score.
Successfully defend the Caravan as the merchants make their way through the Tunnel, and you will be handsomely rewarded.
Public Event: Radiation Rumble
Radiation Rumble is a challenging new Public Event that will appear on the map at Emmett Mountain Disposal Site.
A group of Scavengers have set their sights on mining the precious ore found deep within Emmett Mountain Disposal Site, but they’ve been backed into a corner by treacherous glowing creatures.
Balance your time between defending the Scavengers and venturing out to help them mine ore, and they’ll give you a stake in the profits—but remember wear your Hazmat Suit!
There are four new daily quests available in Wastelanders: Two from the Raiders at Crater, one from the Settlers at Foundation, and one more that you’ll discover as you play through main story quests.
The Raider dailies alternate, with one of the two available to you each day.
All four dailies can be completed to earn Treasury Notes, XP, Caps, and some loot.
Daily quests from the Raiders and the Settlers will also award you with some reputation for your efforts.
New Enemies
Floaters
Floaters are returning creatures from previous Fallout games. They come in three variations: Flamer, Freezer, and Chomper.
They aren’t particularly tough, but when they swarm in with their Super Mutant brethren, they can really change a battle.
Wendigo Colossus
The elusive Wendigo Colossus is a terrifying monstrosity rumored to only rear its head in areas hit by atomic fire.
They are seriously tough, and even a hearty adventurer will find it challenging to square off with one alone. If you plan to hunt down a Wendigo Colossus bring friends—lots of them!
Blood Eagles
Bloodthirsty and cruel, the Blood Eagles are a group of human miscreants fueled by chems, who treat the Wasteland like their personal playground.
Even more frightening are their numbers. Bands of Blood Eagles have sprung up throughout Appalachia, so keep your weapons close and be ready to defend yourself.
Cult of the Mothman
No one is quite sure what these mysterious cultists are up to, but they’ve recently begun inhabiting a few existing locations in Appalachia.
Stay on your guard if you encounter these cultists in the wild. You can be sure that they won’t let you or anyone else get in the way of their. . . rituals.
Explore New and Updated Locations
We’ve created a number of new locations that you will discover, such as the Watoga Underground, The Deep, The Wayward, new Blood Eagle and Mothman Cultist camps, and more.
Additionally, with the return of people to Appalachia, many have already left their mark on the world. They’ve transformed many existing locations, like the Crashed Space Station, Spruce Knob, and WV Lumber Co., among others, to better suit their needs.

Art and Graphics
Day/Night Cycle: Daytime has been lengthened from 8 to 13 game hours, so that you have more sunshine while you quest, craft, and explore. Dusk, dawn, and nighttime have been shortened accordingly.
Lighting: We’ve made significant improvements to all aspects of our lighting and rendering systems to bring additional realism and contrast to the game world.
General Updates
Vault 94: As mentioned in a previous announcement, Vault 94 and its Missions have been shut down along with the release of Wastelanders. o Many of the item rewards that you could earn by completing Missions, including Strangler Heart Power Armor Plans, are now available through the Gold Bullion system.
Nuclear Winter: The Storm now automatically constricts based on the number of players who begin a Nuclear Winter Match. This should help players get to the fun of a match more quickly and spend less time in matchmaking queues o This change was originally implemented in Update 16, but was reverted after community feedback that the automatic constriction was happening too often. We’ve since made improvements in this area and have brought this change back with the Wastelanders update.
Quality-of-Life Improvements
Quest U.I. Updates
Quests have received significant user interface improvements in today’s update. Here is a summary of the adjustments we’ve made:
All of your quest markers will now appear on the map. o Inactive quests show up as black map markers, and quests you’re actively tracking will display the yellow markers you’re already familiar with. o Main quests display square markers, while side, misc., and daily quests show diamond-shaped markers.
Clicking a quest marker on the map will display a pop-up showing more details and a description of that quest. o There are three new options on this pop-up that you can select to mark the quest as active, make it your only active quest, or show the quest in your Pip-Boy. o When viewing a quest in your Pip-Boy, you can now choose to show that quest’s location on the map.
New options are available that you can toggle to customize what types of quests are marked as active when you start them. Find these in the Game Settings Menu
Legendary Enemies: A notification now appears and sound effects play when a legendary creature regenerates to full health during combat.
Nuke Zones: Spawning into an active Nuke Zone when you join a world is no fun! From now on, if there’s an active Nuke Zone at your login location, you will receive a prompt offering you the option to leave the current world and search for another. o You will be protected from Radiation for a short period of time while you make your decision to stay or leave. o This protection will end early if you move, attack, or take damage.
Press and Hold: When viewing many types of pre-placed items in the world, you can now press and hold your interact button to quickly make use of those items without entering your Pip-Boy. o For Example: You can press and hold the interact button to quickly equip and favorite weapons you find, consume an aid item, or learn a plan or recipe. o If you’d prefer, you can still press the interact button without holding it down to add that item to your inventory.
Public Events: The descriptions of Public Events on the map now include a suggested player level.
Radio Host: A new arrival named Julia has taken to the airwaves to host Appalachia Radio. Tune in to catch her quips in between tracks.
Search Perks: The functionality of “Search” Perks, like Scrounger and Pharma Farma, is now automatic. You no longer need to press a button to manually search containers for bonus supplies. You will get a friendly Vault Boy notification when your Perk has kicked in.

FAQ
We know you may have some other questions relating to this Steam news and we wanted to make sure we covered off on some of the major ones that may pop up.
Does my progress carry over between Steam and Bethesda.net?
All game progress carries. Atoms and Fallout 1st membership entitlements are the only parts which are not integrated due to technical limitations.
Will there be achievements?
Steam has the same achievements that are on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Be mindful that you will need to start a new character if you wish to obtain some of the quest-related or level-related achievements.
If I move to Steam can I still play with my friends on Bethesda.net?
Yep! Your friends list on Bethesda.net is the same as the one on Steam. So, all PC players can play together, regardless of launcher.
Will my Atoms transfer from my Bethesda.net account to my Steam account?
No. Your Atoms will not be transferrable from Bethesda.net to Steam. However, if you use your Atoms to purchase items from the Atomic Shop, these items will carry over to your Steam account if you’re logging in with the same Bethesda.net username.
Can I get a refund or transfer my Atoms from Bethesda.net to Steam, and vice versa?
Unless you would otherwise be entitled to a refund under our Terms of Service, unfortunately, we will not be able to transfer or refund Atoms. We recommend spending your Atoms prior to switching launchers.
What happens when I buy Atomic Shop items using my Steam account and then log into my Bethesda.net account?
All owned items go with you regardless of which PC platform you are using to launch the game. Anything you buy in Bethesda.net will show up in Steam and vice versa.
I have Fallout 76 on PS4 or Xbox. Will I also get access to Wastelanders on Steam?
Only PC players on Bethesda.net will be able receive Fallout 76 on Steam.
Will you transfer my Fallout 1st entitlement from Bethesda.net to Steam?
Due to technical limitations, Fallout 1st memberships and Atoms cannot be transferred automatically from Bethesda.net to Steam. If you currently have a Fallout 1st annual membership, we encourage you to inform our Customer Support team to see what options are available to you.
Do I have to download the game again if I already have it downloaded on the Bethesda.net launcher?
Yes, you will need to download the game via Steam.
If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Customer Support team.
