Medieval Dynasty - SwordsOfTheSouth
Welcome Tribe Leaders,

Today we want to tell you a bit more about main quests, side quests, and chapters in Medieval Dynasty. Apart from surviving, growing your tribe and building your city, you will also experience a story and you will come across quests from people that are in need. There will be three types of categories of quests that you will experience: main quests, side quests, and chapters. Here is a little breakdown of those three.

Main quests are the big story lines in Medieval Dynasty. They will take place all over the world, with some spanning over decades of in-game time. There will be dozens of hours of quest gameplay in the Early Access phase with more added as the game evolves. These will be long quests with huge rewards and they will be the backbone of the Medieval Dynasty story.

Apart from the big story quests, you also will have optional Side quests as well. They are smaller adventures that are scattered all over the world, which still pack a bit of punch. And although they might not be as time consuming as the main quests, they can provide a little fun on the side - and some nice rewards as well. They might be just the distraction that you are looking for.

And finally, you will also have Chapters in Medieval Dynasty. These aren’t story based quests per se. These are macro world conditions that you need to satisfy in order to unlock the next Chapters. Completing each Chapter will give you new skills, abilities and unlock new buildings that you can construct, so completing these Chapters is crucial for progression.

Obviously as the game will develop during Early Access, we will bring you more and more content to enjoy. Also we would love to hear your feedback so you can help us shape Medieval Dynasty along with us. And as always, let us know your thoughts below and follow us on our social media channels (you can find them down below).

Welcome Tribe Leader,

With a new month upon us, it’s time that we take a step back, and take you behind the production curtain in our latest Medieval Dynasty Production Update. This time we want to show you more about the survival aspect of this game, specifically on how the seasons will impact you, your tribe, and the world around. We will share some tips which will help you plan your actions, as the more you know, the better the chance that you and your tribe will survive.

Let’s start with dependencies of the seasons. Each of the four seasons of the year has their own unique conditions which impact on you and your work. This is really important if you want to start cultivation. Before you start farming you have to remember that not only each plant has to be seeded at the right time of the year - you can only harvest it at the right time of the year too. Pretty much, we can’t sow in the wrong season.

Fields with people working on it.

Winter is governed by its own laws. Because of the low temperatures, it is impossible to cultivate the land. Therefore, you have to gather enough food to survive this difficult time. You also have to remember that for your people to survive, food will need to be stored in a special food storage building. So make sure that you plan your food supply chain well. If you don’t, you’re opening yourself up for a disaster.

Another important element you should pay special attention to are animals. There are 14 different types of wild and farm animals in the game. They are not only an additional source of food, but their fur also makes for great clothing, which will be definitely a good barrier against low temperatures. Farm animals can be expensive, but they are with no doubt worth their investment.

So, as you can see, you have to keep your eyes open all the time to reach and use all the opportunities which will help you survive in this raw and harsh land.

And finally, we have some new shots of the world itself. Take a look at the land which will be your new home in the not so distant future.

We hope that you’re enjoying the updates that we are sharing with you, and as always, write all your thoughts and questions in the comment section below. We love hearing your feedback and suggestions. And if there’s anything that you would like us to talk about specifically, write it down below!

Welcome Tribe Leader,

It’s time for our next Medieval Dynasty Production Update. Today, we want to show you some of the things that we worked on recently over the last month. We also have some screenshots and images to go along with the update too, which we think will interest you the most. But let’s not prolong any further - let’s get into it!

Let’s start with some visual aspects of the game. Recently we added a variety of different versions of farm animals. There will be male, female, and baby animals. So far, we have sheep, goats, and pigs, but we are planning other farm animals too. And as a side note, there is nothing cuter than baby animals ;).

Versions of farm animals.

Now that we have animals covered, let’s move onto people. As you can see from the above image, our humble man needed some clothing. Not only to be appropriate but also so he won’t freeze during winter. Recently, we spent some time on creating new clothes for our medieval people. Before we started the process, we spent many hours researching historical sources and try to understand what type of clothing people wore in those days. After all, we want our game to be as authentic as possible. After collecting a large number of historical references, we were able to get down to work.

A small sample of the different clothes you will see in Medieval Dynasty.

While remaining on the subject of visuals, we can mention the changes we have made to the environment itself. We added more environment models, such as bushes and crops. We have created a variety of plant types that are specific to the environment too. We will have specific plants that are present in wetlands, mountain areas, forests, and meadows. We also made sure that they can change during the seasons as well. We also created various types of crops too - take a look at some of them below.

Different kinds of crops.

These are just some of the things we worked on recently. We also worked on some quests, buildings, vendors, and more. We hope you enjoyed this update and it gave you a bit more information on Medieval Dynasty is all about. And as always, send us your thoughts and questions in the comment section below.

Welcome Tribe Leaders,

Some time ago, we asked you to send us your Medieval Dynasty questions for our first video Q&A. First up, we want to thank you all for your very interesting questions! You are a curious bunch! We received a lot of them and we couldn’t answer them all - otherwise, our video would last for ages. However, we're more than happy to answer a few from you. So here it is - our first Medieval Dynasty Q&A Video. Take a look:

Let us know what you think about the video in the comment section below. Once again we are sorry we couldn’t answer all your questions. However, we can do more videos like this in the future. If more Q&A videos sound like a good idea, let us know below. We will be more than happy to oblige.

Welcome Tribe Leader,

Every day, our game is taking shape and it’s becoming a bit more complete. Today, we wanted to share with you a few of the many things we've been working on over the last month or so. We hope you will find them interesting. So let's not prolong anymore. Let’s get to it.

One of the things we've been polishing are the looks of our characters. To give the feeling that your settlement is growing older and that time doesn’t stay still, we added an aging process to our characters. Not only will you see the aging process happen on character faces, but also their hair will change colour, getting greyer as time goes on. It’s a little detail that we think will make the game feel more realistic, and it’ll help you bond with the characters as well.

Aging process in action. Same character, over a span of a lifetime.

While we’re on the topic of visuals, we took some time this month to refine the look of the buildings. They now have undergone a small renovation and have new foundations. And it’s not only the outside that changes. We've added new stairs as well, so you can access those higher-up places in style.

Some of the buildings from your settlement. A Barn that needs fixing, a Hunting Lodge, and a House.

Finally, a little bit about our work on survival mechanics. We've added some elements to the game that we feel will make it more interesting. Life in the Middle Ages was not easy. There were many dangers waiting for people at every turn. The cold of winter was especially dangerous - you need to find a way to survive in harsh conditions. We've worked a lot on temperature mechanics and the role they play in the overall gameplay. And as silly as this little feature might sound, we worked on our campfires too! Fire will bring relief to frozen hands, but you have to be careful because if you get to close, it will hurt you.

Apart from the mentioned topics above we have - as always - further improved and added overall gameplay elements, performance and stability.

We hope that this update gave you a bit of insight into what Medieval Dynasty is shaping up to be (of course, without revealing too much). By the way, if you want more info, videos, screenshots, and more, you can find it on our social channels. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Discord Server.

Let us know what you thought of our update, and stay safe - not just in the game, but outside of it as well. We hope you’re well and healthy.

Until next time,

Toplitz Team
