New Tutorials: Basic Training
We understand that RISK can be a daunting conquest for newcomers, and our current Training tutorial could use a bit of an upgrade. So, we’ve been hard at work creating Basic Training, a new tutorial system that covers off the essentials of what anyone needs to get started playing RISK.

Basic Training features:

6 training modules covering the core concepts of RISK
Each training exercise has an accompanying video tutorial and wiki article, to cover all the information you need to get started playing RISK
NEW Commander Frame awarded to each player for completing all of Basic Training. (Existing players already familiar with the game will automatically receive the Commander Frame, which can be found in the customization menu)

New Music
March into battle with new music coming to RISK! Have a listen to the epic new RISK soundtrack, with brand new tracks for our main menu and in-game music to accompany your battles. The new tracks (created just for us) will not have content ID on them so streamers and content creators can rejoice!

Emotes in the Shop

We know many of you have been patiently waiting and saving your gems for your favourite emotes to show up in the shop. The day is finally here! You can now purchase any emote you desire, eliminating the wait and randomness, so you can express yourself exactly how you want, when you want.

From this point forward, you can view and purchase emotes from the customisation menu, just like you would with all our other customisation items. Head there now to see the emotes you already own and explore all our emote options. We’ll be rolling out some emotes progressively to this menu over the coming weeks so make sure you check back regularly!

The team is gearing up for Update 3.12 and all I can say is that August is going to be a big month!

Here’s what you can expect from the new update:

Season 12 is here!
A new season of RISK has begun and our Global Leaderboards have been reset.
You'll temporarily see '0' for your profile rank (this is your position on the Global Seasonal Leaderboard).

Complete one ranked Global Domination game to see your updated profile rank. You'll be placed back on the Global Leaderboard as soon as that game is finished by all players.

Some Viking History for you: Björn Ironside was a Norse Viking chief and Swedish king. According to the 12th- and 13th-century Scandinavian histories, he was the son of notorious Viking king Ragnar Lodbrok and lived in the 9th century, between 855 and 858.

Although, I’m sure many of you know Bjorn from a certain tv show 😜.

New Troops:
We also have new Viking themed troops coming as well! Earlier this month we gathered feedback from the community to see which Viking themed troops you’d like to see in RISK.

Welcome to the RISK 2023 Official 1v1 World Tournament, where the only risk of entering is...well, there are no risks!

These community Discord tournaments are a great way to improve your skills and meet different players. Did we also mention there will be prizes for winners?

COMMUNITY BULLETIN #18!

Greetings generals and welcome to Community Bulletin #18.

Can you believe we are already in June? Did you know June used to be the fourth month in a year? Before Julius Caesar came to power, the calendar year only had 10 months. In 46 BC he created the Julian calendar by adding two more months to the year, which made June the sixth month.

It’s been a busy first half of the year for the team at SMG and there is much to come in RISK!

Some things to look out for include:

Happy Pride Month!
Pride Month is an entire month dedicated to the uplifting of LGBTQ+ voices, celebration of LGBTQ culture and the support of LGBTQ+ rights. At SMG, we strive to create games that people of all backgrounds can play and enjoy.

Dev Updates:
The team is working hard on RISK update 3.12 (our biggest update of the year so far!).

With this update we aim to:

Improve new users' first time experience with a brand new tutorial system.
Release new RISK music - main theme and in-game music will be changed.
And more!

The team is also currently working on:

RISK’s major networking overhaul - to improve stability in game.
New troops, dice and map packs.

Between now and the new update we will be releasing new troops and dice as well.

Dwarven Troops:
A dwarf is unrivalled in battle and beard maintenance.

Elven Trinket Dice:
Adding to the new Dwarf troops we have some Elvish inspired dice!
Introducing 3 new Elven Relics! They are Fire, Divine and Ice!

Viking Troop Concepts:
We’re also gearing up for some new Viking troops! We are looking at more than 1 but we can confirm that #6 (the ship) will definitely be added to our list of troops.

Let us know if you have any troops or dice suggestions!

Season 2 of the 2023 RISK FFA World Championship has now reached round 5. Well done on the generals that have made it this far.

Official 1v1 Tourney Coming Soon!

The Discord is planning a new official 1V1 RISK Tournament! Sign Ups will open on June 26th, and the event starts on July 3rd

In response to popular demand, it will be split into a Competitive Tourney for 1V1 Grandmasters, and a parallel Casual Tourney.
