RISK Classic World Championship Season 1 2023: Round 1

Welcome to Round 1 of the first RISK Classic World Championship, a tournament run by the Discord community.

The tournament consists of 7 weekly FFA games against other generals. These tournaments are an opportunity to compete against the best RISK players in the world and have the chance to win epic rewards.

Here are a few shortcuts to use to find your game time easier: Ctrl + F for Windows, Cmd + F for Mac, Three Dots in the top right -> Search for Mobile

The spreadsheet contains a lot of other useful information such as rules, links, settings, and more!

Each group will play 2 games this week and the winner of each of those games advances.

Groups need to have at least 5 players as this format requires specific numbers of groups. Sign-ups will be left open for a couple of extra days and the Discord tournament organizers will aim to get a 6th player for as many groups as possible.

A few reminders:

- All times are in UTC on the spreadsheet. Please use https://www.worldtimebuddy.com/ to help convert your times

- You will receive multiple pings in the Discord server before your game so be sure to have notifications on!

Our latest RISK dice are here!

In the update 3.10 post, we mentioned dropping some dice inspired by our co-op puzzle game Death Squared!

The prototype originated in 2015 at the 48 hour Global Game Jam, themed “What do we do next?” and went on to become a fully fledged game, released by SMG in 2017. You can now pick up Steve, Franke, Emma and Barry in the store now!






And if you love cooperative puzzle games for up to 4 players, you can check out the original game, available on Steam, Switch, PS4/5, Xbox, Android and IOS.

The Death Squared bots also received some love from the TagMods team who came up with their names and created these custom console mod designs:

Based on Steam’s regional pricing recommendations, all DLC for RISK Global Domination including Map Packs and Premium will undergo a price change against the baseline USD prices on April 3rd 2023. You may notice an increase in price for DLC depending on your local currency.

Happy International Women’s Day to all our female-identifying Generals!



RISK has always been a game that everyone can enjoy and the RISK team especially appreciates how welcoming the community has been to all gamers.

We've seen an increase over recent years in our female player base for RISK. We think this is awesome and we love seeing the RISK community be more diverse and inclusive!

How long have you been playing RISK?

This version, a year, but I have been playing other versions of Risk for a decade!

How did you get into RISK?

Played Catan with some friends and was reminded of Risk. I had previously been familiar with it as a board game.

What does being a female gamer mean to you?

I hope other girls see that playing games is for having fun! Games are for everyone and the Risk community is especially welcoming to all!

Do you have any advice for female identifying gamers wanting to get into RISK?

Come hang out in Discord and join tournaments. I have met SO many awesome people in this community.

How long have you been playing RISK?

Someone broke my bonus and I quit for about 4 years but I picked it back up a few months ago after finally cooling off.

How did you get into RISK?

My flatmate at the time challenged me to a game. I was terrible and didn't understand it at all but after a few beers became confident enough to aggressively take Australia.

What does being a female gamer mean to you?

I have little experience as a female gamer since I only really play RISK, and only recently started to talk to other players through my twitch stream. The community has been overwhelmingly positive and kind. I am aware however of the rampant sexism within the gaming sphere in general, so if my platform, however small, is making a tiny difference by showing a 'female gamer' showing up to a male dominated platform then I would certainly see this as a win. Unlike my games of Risk lately, which are mostly losses.

Do you have any advice for female identifying gamers wanting to get into RISK?
Make alliance, thumbs down, break alliance

How long have you been playing RISK?

I've been playing Risk on and off since I was a young gal.

How did you get into RISK?

When I started playing online, I really loved the community and social aspects. I wanted to play something casually one night and just downloaded Risk. Little did I expect, it was chaos and the maps were very different and lovely.

What does being a female gamer mean to you?

Being a female gamer, just shows empowerment to me, as the gaming community is male dominated. I believe females bring a certain light and playfulness to the community.

Do you have any advice for female identifying gamers wanting to get into RISK?

Advice I would give other women getting into Risk, just give it a try, join the community, meet new folks and just share some laughs.

Welcome To RISK Classic FFA World Championship Season 1 2023, a tournament run by the Discord Community.

Sign-Ups Are Now Open!



Join in to compete against the best RISK players in the world and have the chance to win epic rewards.

All games will be played on the Classic map, 4 to 6 players, on simple old-school settings. Players will be given the opportunity to engage in voice chat (optional), bringing back Risk's hallmark feature of verbal negotiation, conflict and betrayal.
