To follow-up from our Herogrinder: Evolutions post a few months ago, we've decided to put the Raycaster into focus to showcase the full involvement of our entire team in the creation of a beautiful game asset. The Raycaster is a great example of the creative process behind Herogrinder, especially the game designers since it is a unique weapon that adds new game mechanics.

Instead of standard ammo and line of sight firing, the Raycaster emits an area effect that can target multiple enemies at the same time in either a line or a cone. The weapon is basically a point-and-fire solution that never misses and doesn't require an attack roll. As an energy weapon, it also negates recoil and can't fumble either. In addition, it also causes burn damage in succeeding rounds if the enemy can't avoid the flames.

Based on these specifications from game designers, our concept artist Luke drew the gun and we finalized the concept together. Then our 3D artist Gergo designed the object in 3D. Finally, our Unity team integrated it into the game environment and added it to the customizer.

We came full circle when the content team created the lore around the weapon and placed it into the context of the game, like so:

"The Widerange Raycaster is the pride of Stellar Dynamics in the newest line from the “Spectrum series” developed in orbital factories under zero-g manufacturing protocols. Laser emissions are spread in a wide cone or straight line shape for area effects that will hit all your enemies at once and set them on fire with a single blast."      





Wanted for questioning: CyriX Robertson


In a viral-construct manifesto, even CyriX Robertson of P4P (People For People) has condemned the latest stunt from Marcus Yablonsky, stating that it "showed great insensitivity and horrendous discrimination" to use bioroid blood, which has "long been spilled in vain in the arenas". The organization stands for bioroid rights, which has repeatedly put them at odds with the Herogrinder Corporation and MediCore Pharma, suppliers of the bioroid clones used in the Herogrinder show. CyriX Robertson is still at large and wanted for questioning in his possible role in the hijacking and disappearance of a bioroid shipment last month.

Karen, aka "Mama Terminal", aka "SpeedRipper", aka "ATGATT" is a member of the W0RM Collective and the main character of the Herogrinder comic that is under development. We are now working on the book, which will show the hacker organization in action on their mission to expose the Herogrinder Corporation and its parent company, the New Horizons Media network. Karen and her crew will work alongside a mysterious entity called "Silentrun" to aid them in their mission.

We will release the complete comic during beta, so stay tuned for future announcements!



Marcus Yablonsky is under arrest, again

Marcus Yablonsky, the controversial leader of the extremist anti-capitalist, anti-war, anti-globalization organization, the Radical Pacifists was arrested today. Under the guise of a peaceful demonstration, Yablonsky used aerial drones to spray bioroid blood on Herogrinder's PR chief, Jane Allyson and her retinue. This is Yablonsky's seventh arrest this year.

Every single graphic asset created for Herogrinder goes through several design steps and involves all members of our graphics crew, with support from the entire development team. A good example is the medium heavy hangdun: "The Deckard" pictured below.

First, based on input from game designers, our concept artist Luke draws the objects, whether they be weapons, characters, objects, or other game elements. When the concept is finalized, it is modeled in 3D by one of our 3D artist Gergo. Finally, our Unity team integrates the asset into the game environment to make sure sizing, pivots, overlaps, coloring, and lighting all work perfectly and according to the final specifications.   



Young heir to Yoroi shines in new corporate role

Due to his father's recent absence from corporate affairs, the prodigal son Geriko Yoroi-Kovacs has stepped up to take over the reins of the Yoroi-Kovacs conglomerate following his appointment by the Board. Perhaps the stain on the Yoroi crest caused by Geriko's shady dealings in the past will be remedied by the new responsibilities. "Father will not be disappointed when he returns from his immersive meditation construct. Until then, I will continue to put our name on every blade and armor we make as a guarantee of perfection." announced Geriko Yoroi-Kovacs in today's press conference.

Three dead in Krass XTE attack drone accident

Ten engineers died, seventeen more have been wounded when an attack drone went haywire yesterday at Krass Nanotronics GmbH factory in Hamburg. The drone was running under stress test when it got out of control. The whole XTE line was called back for re-examination. As the company's CEO Michl Mord Krass offered his condolences to the victim's families, the company's stock saw a sharp drop and a class action lawsuit looms on the horizon.

Raid on Caliente Technologies HQ

Policía Federal raided the Caliente Technologies corporate headquarters in Ciudad Juarez, MX and have imponded the company's servers on location. Jorge Guzman, the spokesperson for Caliente has dismissed all allegations that connect the tech-company to the dreaded Aspera Cartel.


Zer0Tru claims responsibility for satellite attack

A member of the W0RM Collective, the hacker known as "Zer0Tru" has claimed responsibility for today's deadly attack on NHM offices in a cyberspace broadcast. Zer0Tru has been wanted by Alliance authorities since 2382 when he crashed every NHM server simultaneously and by the Chinese after the infamous Wuhan Database Wipe in 2385.

We are almost ready with the first major update of the Bioroid Customizer App with the newest weapon, armor, and accessory assets. We've showed you the mono-knife and auto-shotgun already. This month is just about style - creating many new head accessories that were missing from the app.

There can never be enough headgear! We are expanding the 81 accessories we already have with another 15!!! New headgear, hairstyles, optical implant, facial hair and piercings among some other goodies to make your bioroids even more customized.

Developments for Herogrinder are going strong and while we are continuously working on preparing new character assets like armors, weapons, hairstyles and so on, we are also focusing on developing the game itself. Our main project this month was streamlining and populating our map editor tool, which allows us to model arenas in 3D. We have implemented almost 1000 assets into the tool and have categorized them (walls/doors, floor tiles, terrain objects, light sources, and designs like small objects, decals, and particle effects) to create the file architecture for all visual environmental elements of Herogrinder.

Our next main task is to turn the editor tool into a testing environment for characters and animations, basically to see the finished product in the game environment. With a few editor scripts, we are now able to see the working models and animations that our 3D design team creates and finalize them with the involvement of our entire studio. And all through our editor tool.

NHM satellite hacked, hits Chiba City offices



New Horizon Media was the target of yet another deadly cyberattack today when an NHM satellite was hacked and projected into the corporate offices in Chiba City. The attack resulted in 52 lives lost and dozens under trauma recovery. The notorious hacker collective known as the "W0RM" is blamed for the tragedy. "Our hearts go out to the victims of this atrocious attack. These worms must be eradicated at all costs, we will not rest until justice is served." commented Lynton Des, COO of Herogrinder Corporation.

Yoroi Technologies presents the latest mono-molecular manufacturing patents to create the most cutting-edge blades. This light weapon is easy to handle and has the highest damage potential in its category, however, due to the ultralight compounds used, it is also easier to miss the target compared to more balanced carbon-steel counterparts.

Anahita atrificial archipelago declares independence



The state-of-the-art artificial archipelago, Anahita declared independence from the Collective Arab Emirates. Anahita was originally built as part of a larger project to boost tourism to the Emirates, but it slowly became a hotbed for arcology experiments. Turned into a self-sustainable, ecologically low-impact human habitat, managed by an autonomous A.I., Anahita and its population of 19,704 is now a sovereign island state.
