Hello Mechanics! The last few months without a doubt were full of hard work and resulted in major changes for CMS VR. Thanks to your suggestions we implemented a multitude of interesting features. Today we would like to roughly summarise all of the changes the game received throughout the last two months:
Sandbox mode - everyone likes some freedom! When using the sandbox mode, you can buy and fix any car that you want, regardless of its price. Wouldn’t it be great if we could also do this in real life?
Various controller setups were tweaked to match their individual button layouts and make navigating through the game more intuitive. Now all of the available headsets are supported and play out great!
The overall performance of the game received a massive boost. Not only did we manage to greatly shorten the loading times of the vehicles, we also smoothened the overall framerate and the warm reviews we received after those changes only prove that right now the game works really well!
When developing the game we made the decision not to make the smallest car parts physical as we thought working on them would become troublesome BUT after listening to your feedback we changed that, so now each and every part can be grabbed, picked up and mounted physically.
In order to make the gameplay more fluent we decided to add in a system responsible for switching the game modes automatically. This greatly minimized the need of constantly using the pie menu thus shortening the time needed to complete an ongoing job.
The tools also received a fair bit of attention. The welder, the grinder, the spring puller and the oil bin have all been revamped and now behave much more like in the real world!
Aside from the tools present during the release of the game, we also added some new ones, like the impact wrench or a bunch of ratchet wrenches. We also added in the possibility to freely spawn and despawn all of the parts present within the player's inventory.
Among the major changes, we also can’t forget about the numerous quality of life tweaks, such as adding in the possibility to sort your shopping list or adjust the player’s height if you feel like it.
Repairing cars is no piece of cake and you surely cannot learn how to do it within a single tutorial, so we decided that CMS VR should have two! The first one’s purpose is to make you familiar with moving around and interacting with the VR world. It recently received a lifting and based on the feedback it is now much more intuitive and helpful. The big tutorial that is teaching the basics of working on cars in CMS VR has also received a few changes, mostly consisting of the addition of minigames that will help you memorize the way things work.
Finally, here is the list of changes for today’s update:
- Keyboard’s colour changed (in the garage) - Fixed… fixing parts on the workbench - Fixed repairing and assembling shock / absorber - Fixed error during loading saved game - Fixed showing POI during the game - Fixed update rim object materials - Fixed change rust weight materials property when finish repair one par

Throughout the last week we have been working on a few changes that should make getting started in CMS VR a little easier. The big tutorial received an indicator showing you how many points of interest you still can visit in order to learn each and every aspect of the game. Almost all of the points of interest now also allow you to immediately check out the mechanisms they feature - all of course done through your hands like in real life.
The welder has received a small tweak and will now emit blinding light, so that you are able to use it only when wearing the welding mask. Protect yourself at all times!
Thanks to your feedback we learned that many of you found it hard to finish the tutorial so we decided to add a final point of interest to the garage. It will show you explicitly what you need to do in order to proceed. In case you find it hard to finish the tutorial, we want to remind you that all you need to do is pour new oil into the car and take it to the test track.
Apart from the above mentioned changes, the game also received some smaller tweaks, all of them listed further down below.
We want to thank you for all of the suggestions you have submitted throughout the latest days. As always, remember that if you are enjoying our game and what we are doing with it, then we would be thankful if you reviewed it on it’s Steam page. Each and every one of your reviews provides us with a huge boost of energy and motivation for further work!
