Hello Mechanics! The last few months without a doubt were full of hard work and resulted in major changes for CMS VR. Thanks to your suggestions we implemented a multitude of interesting features. Today we would like to roughly summarise all of the changes the game received throughout the last two months:
Sandbox mode - everyone likes some freedom! When using the sandbox mode, you can buy and fix any car that you want, regardless of its price. Wouldn’t it be great if we could also do this in real life?
Various controller setups were tweaked to match their individual button layouts and make navigating through the game more intuitive. Now all of the available headsets are supported and play out great!
The overall performance of the game received a massive boost. Not only did we manage to greatly shorten the loading times of the vehicles, we also smoothened the overall framerate and the warm reviews we received after those changes only prove that right now the game works really well!
When developing the game we made the decision not to make the smallest car parts physical as we thought working on them would become troublesome BUT after listening to your feedback we changed that, so now each and every part can be grabbed, picked up and mounted physically.
In order to make the gameplay more fluent we decided to add in a system responsible for switching the game modes automatically. This greatly minimized the need of constantly using the pie menu thus shortening the time needed to complete an ongoing job.
The tools also received a fair bit of attention. The welder, the grinder, the spring puller and the oil bin have all been revamped and now behave much more like in the real world!
Aside from the tools present during the release of the game, we also added some new ones, like the impact wrench or a bunch of ratchet wrenches. We also added in the possibility to freely spawn and despawn all of the parts present within the player's inventory.
Among the major changes, we also can’t forget about the numerous quality of life tweaks, such as adding in the possibility to sort your shopping list or adjust the player’s height if you feel like it.
Repairing cars is no piece of cake and you surely cannot learn how to do it within a single tutorial, so we decided that CMS VR should have two! The first one’s purpose is to make you familiar with moving around and interacting with the VR world. It recently received a lifting and based on the feedback it is now much more intuitive and helpful. The big tutorial that is teaching the basics of working on cars in CMS VR has also received a few changes, mostly consisting of the addition of minigames that will help you memorize the way things work.
Finally, here is the list of changes for today’s update:
- Keyboard’s colour changed (in the garage) - Fixed… fixing parts on the workbench - Fixed repairing and assembling shock / absorber - Fixed error during loading saved game - Fixed showing POI during the game - Fixed update rim object materials - Fixed change rust weight materials property when finish repair one par

Throughout the last week we have been working on a few changes that should make getting started in CMS VR a little easier. The big tutorial received an indicator showing you how many points of interest you still can visit in order to learn each and every aspect of the game. Almost all of the points of interest now also allow you to immediately check out the mechanisms they feature - all of course done through your hands like in real life.
The welder has received a small tweak and will now emit blinding light, so that you are able to use it only when wearing the welding mask. Protect yourself at all times!
Thanks to your feedback we learned that many of you found it hard to finish the tutorial so we decided to add a final point of interest to the garage. It will show you explicitly what you need to do in order to proceed. In case you find it hard to finish the tutorial, we want to remind you that all you need to do is pour new oil into the car and take it to the test track.
Apart from the above mentioned changes, the game also received some smaller tweaks, all of them listed further down below.
We want to thank you for all of the suggestions you have submitted throughout the latest days. As always, remember that if you are enjoying our game and what we are doing with it, then we would be thankful if you reviewed it on it’s Steam page. Each and every one of your reviews provides us with a huge boost of energy and motivation for further work!

Considering the recent influx of new players and major changes in the game mechanics, we've decided to change the "first steps in VR" tutorial and the big familiarization one to show you all the possibilities of CMS VR. We still plan to expand the big tutorial to include the possibility to try out all the devices without having to dismantle the cars, but we still need some time.
The small tutorial now includes instructions for a full car oil service, which we hope will help new players learn the basics of navigating our virtual world.
We've added more immersive features to the game itself - from now on, the computers in the office as well as those in the diagnostic lane can be activated with a button on the chassis, rather than a laser as before (for veterans, the laser option is still available)
The glasses available in the garage now automatically activate the "examine" mode - you do not have to launch it from the pie menu.
At your request, we have added a button to move ALL parts from the garage to the inventory. You no longer have to carry each part separately or bring them in the trolley to the zone.
Parts picked up with the left hand now show their condition on the watch. Previously this feature only worked on mounted parts, now it is available on removed parts.
The welder has received a new sound and the ability to repair parts that are removed from the car. The grinder can now also repair some parts.
The keyboard should be more visible, we've changed the colour scheme of the buttons and the lettering on them.

Hello Mechanics, We are very thankful for the warm reception of the latest patch and for the kind reviews you posted on our Steam page. We reached the 72% positive review mark and that alone gave us a huge chunk of motivation for further work. This week we decided to focus on some of the devices without which working in a garage would not be possible. You can now manually use the spring clamp in order to put together and take apart suspension arms.
The welder can now be used to repair rusty car bodies. Simply put it onto a car and press the trigger and the rust should come off easily. Car sheathing elements such as doors can also be derusted this way, but need to first be taken off of the car. The repairing table now works the way it should, you can put any part you want on it and then use the hammer laying on it to fix the part. Remember that when doing all of the above you are still limited by the skill tree perks related to part fixing and that some parts can be damaged beyond repair.
The cleaning toolkit can also be used by hand - grab a spray bottle and use it on the inside of the car.
All of the computers in the garage have been equipped with a power button so you no longer need to use the laser to turn them on.
The battery charger also received a revamp. You now no longer need to use the pie menu to make it work. Simply grab a battery and place it on the charger where the clamps are and the charging will start automatically. We also added a small indicator showing you the charging progress. The custom user music radio station is back! Now you can listen to any songs you like in CMS VR!
We also enhanced the scrolling lists, which now should be bigger and more user-friendly.
The watch has received a new panel responsible for displaying your local time.
The full list of changes: Added clock to the watch on left hand Added impact wrench sound Added new sound on success upgraded part Added toggle on/off buttons to the Computers Diag path now works without laser Now You can fix parts on repair table using just hammer, welder and grinder! Now car mode will switch into disassemble mode while using oil canister Now battery charger do not need laser to use Now it's possible to use Spring Clamp using just hands, 0 laser Now engine crane work's without laser Now it's possible to clean car interior using sprayer inside the car Now welder can be used without laser to remove rust from cars and parts! Changed Rattle wrench model Fixed and resided scrollbars Fixed bug with entering car while crouching Fixed occlusion in the garage Fixed text on the tablet notification during upgrading and mounting parts Fixed bug with wrong height value displayed on the VR Settings Fixed welder particles Fixed hammer https://store.steampowered.com/app/1088770/Car_Mechanic_Simulator_VR/
After one and a half months after the release, we have updated the game 6 times. Every day, we're listening to your voice on the Steam community, social media (especially Facebook and YouTube), and our Discord. We're polishing every part of the game. We're adding elements that weren't planned even in GDD! We see you, hear you, listen to you, talk to you. We care. ❤
And today we can proudly announce, that based on the last 30 days we have reached a Very positive reviews rate (82% of the 17 user reviews)!
Your feedback is the most valuable, so once again, we ask you to rate our game! If you already have and played Car Mechanic Simulator VR, please write a review on Steam! That could help us a lot to reach other gamers and cars fans, too.
The newest update has just arrived on Steam and we want to cordially invite you to check out what has been added to the game for yourselves.
We heard your response to the previous update and added a cart to the garage, which will allow you to carry multiple parts around. Now you won’t need to go shopping as often! :D
Now each and every item will produce a sound when hitting the floor - this should turn the immersiveness up a notch. We also added proper sounds to the window sprays - a thing we forgot to add last time.
When refilling the oil in an engine, the game will now display a window indicating the current oil level, which should help you be more accurate when pouring. Also the oil you spill on the ground will now leave oil stains on the ground!
We decided to add in a special warning, which will let you know if the number of parts present in your garage exceeds the preferable level and that the game might slow down should you continue to pile them up.
From now on you can also sit inside the cars present in the garage, car salon and other various locations.
Your Steam reviews are of great importance to us and give us an enormous energy boost, so if you like the game and the latest changes, we highly encourage you to write and post your review!
