Just a heads up to say that we have finally released the first version of PZ online, so far capable of 32 players on persistent player run servers.

You can find out more by clicking this link: http://projectzomboid.com/blog/2014/02/apzdtisa-3-this-time-with-live-multiplayer/

Remember: Consider trying the demo before purchasing.

If you're cool with bugs, and want to support the game, then we'd love to have you on board. Bear in mind any issues WILL be fixed, so if you're cool with that, feel free to buy away.

However, if the money is important to you and you want a perfectly stable and polished build out of the gate and no risk of temporary compatibility or performance problems, please consider downloading the demo, even if just to test it runs, and ensuring the game is ready for you, and you are ready for the game.

Fight 'em with friends.

Scene: The RPS chatroom earlier this morning.

Graham: I tried playing Rust and didn’t really click with it. It feels earlier even than DayZ.John: Another interesting sounding game ruined by the presence of awful other people.Graham: Haha! Do you play Project Zomboid at all? It’s singleplayer.John W: I haven’t for a very long time.Adam S: I played Zomboid a couple of weeks ago – still feels too empty for my liking. I end up surviving for half a day and then running around attracting as many zombies as possible just to make something happen.

Good news for Adam and bad news for John then: about an hour later, Project Zomboid’s developers revealed they had multiplayer up and working. They’ve demonstrated their ability to spy on our conversations with three videos posted on the Zomboid blog. (more…)

Bonesville. Population: You.

If you’ve ever invested time in a level editor, there’s a good chance you’ve started looking around your environment and considered how you might re-create it in a game. If you’ve ever invested time in a piece of zombie fiction, there’s a good chance you’ve started looking around your environment and considered how you might survive an attack by the walking dead. The Project Zomboid Map Editor lets you explore both fascinations by enabling you to create your own home, office, or other environment, and port it into the alpha-developed isometric zombie survival RPG. These guys must really like hot dogs and banana milkshakes.

Project Zomboid is up on Steam Early Access now. Project Zomboid is a zombie survival RPG with a grim tone, and it has been in development and paid-alpha for ages.

That’s it. That’s the news. It was in the title>. I’m always a little wary, though, of posting things like this, which are just straight-up, matter-of-fact pieces of information about a thing you can now buy in a new place. So to prove that I’m a hard-hitting journalist, I reached out to Will Porter over the weekend to ask him about the game’s launch into Early Access. (more…)

While we're very proud of what we have and many people play the game for hundreds of hours, we are aware the game isn't perfect and may have glitches or performance/compatibility issues on some machines, particularly in the next few days as we suddenly have a ton more of people with different configurations running the game, and an issue on a few machines can suddenly become an issue on hundreds or thousands of machines, and as a small development team our ability to mass test is limited by our prior wonderful customers who were interested in testing.

We want everyone who buys to be satisfied in the meantime, even if it costs us sales. If you try the demo and hit these issues, please be kind. We provided it so you didn't spend money to find out it's too early for you, or flat out doesn't run for you, and to help us locate and fix these issues without people paying for the privilege if possible.

Please bear with us, and try the demo if you're not offering the early purchase in part to support development.

Love,

Indie Stone

Project Zomboid - Valve
Project Zomboid is Now Available on Steam Early Access

Project Zomboid is an open-ended zombie-infested sandbox. It asks one simple question – how will you die?

In the towns of Muldraugh and West Point, survivors must loot houses, build defences and do their utmost to delay their inevitable death day by day. No help is coming – your continued survival relies on your own cunning, luck and ability to evade a relentless horde.

We’re a game that’s in heavy active development, so when we were considering our appearance on Steam Early Access we thought it vital that we provide potential buyers with as much information as possible about the current state of our game.

Sometimes with alpha funded games people don’t know what they’re jumping into until they’ve bought the game, and annoying compatibility issues can spring from the woodwork after download.

To do our best to avoid this we’re launching with a playable demo you can try out first – in which a pre-made character’s fate is already sealed by a zombie bite. It’s our way of making sure that you’ll be satisfied with your purchase, and so you can be sure that a game in alpha (that’s due some extra optimization work in future) runs at an acceptable lick on your machine if it’s of a lower spec.

To double down on this over the coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday (8-10 November) we will be co-ordinating livestreams with many of our existing players and streamers. Our hope is that we’ll have as close to uninterrupted coverage of the game as possible, with hosts and (time permitting) developers available to answer your questions.

If there’s no available livestream, or if you’d prefer it, then you can also check out some of our regular YouTubers’ guides and opinions on the game. (We specifically asked this lot to cover both the pros and cons of our game and its development, but it goes without saying that they already enjoy playing it!)

Finally, we’re on Twitter (@theindiestone) and our website and forums can be found at www.projectzomboid.com. Here you’ll find the development updates that we blog every Monday in our ‘Mondoid’ updates.

If, after all this, you’re up for jumping into Project Zomboid, then thanks for the support – and good luck in your gruelling battle against an inevitable death!”
