Destiny 2 - dmg04
This week at Bungie, there's quite a bit to do in Destiny 2.

Hello, and welcome once again to our weekly installment of Bungie news. I’m going to be up front with you, I’ve been spending quite a lot of this week diving deeper and deeper into The Witch Queen and Season of the Risen. Between the Vow of Disciple raid, PsiOps Battlegrounds, weekly repeatable story missions, Throne World secrets, Master Vox Obscura, Wellspring, Iron Banner, Altars of Reflection, and our rituals... it’s difficult to think of how to even kick this TWAB off. Let’s stick to what rolled out on Tuesday at the weekly reset and go from there, shall we?

Over the last few weeks, the Vanguard has entertained a shaky alliance with Caiatl and the Cabal. A trusted Psion has been exploring the minds of Hive Lieutenants in the Tower, searching for clues on what the Lucent Brood are planning. The final PsiOps Battleground has been revealed on the Moon, and Saladin is calling for Guardians to stop whatever the Hive have started within the walls of the Scarlet Keep. If you haven’t logged in this week, now’s your time.

Iron Banner has also returned, bringing Power-enabled 6v6 combat to the Crucible. As we noted last week, there’s some new loot to earn. This time around, there are even some new origin perks on each weapon, giving Guardians a brief moment of stealth during the hunt after defeating an enemy. I’m still hunting for my perfect Hand Cannon roll, but my Compulsive Reloader / Kill Clip combo will do just fine until I’m able to secure Rapid Hit. Pro-tip, Kill Clip bumps this Hand Cannon archetype up to a “three-tap,” AKA defeat Guardians in three precision shots rather than four. It can kick off some lovely streaks if you time things right, and know when to push.

While some Guardians are just now hopping into The Witch Queen for the first time, a few of you are beginning to look at the next few weeks of the Season with excitement. This week, we’ll be looking through the calendar, and we have some news from the team on crafting currencies, with some additional notes on feedback that they’re monitoring.

Hippy: This week at Bungie, we are celebrating World First, talking raid stats, and showing off a new weapon rotation for Trials and Iron Banner.

Guardians have been diving into The Witch Queen and Season of the Risen and discovering a wealth of new story content and lore to dig into that makes us cry. Despite some server issues and a few hiccups in-game, the latest step of the ever-evolving story of Destiny has been a wild one, but we are far from done when it comes to making it even better. From the Seasonal quest continuing towards its own conclusion to a new hotfix going live today full of bug fixes, there are a lot of reasons to dive in. Because of that, we wanted to talk about some of the different weapons coming to Trials of Osiris and Iron Banner, returning maps making their way downtown (er, to the Crucible), and talk about what issues have been addressed (link to patch notes) and what’s still on the docket.

But first? Art.

In case you missed it, we shared a ton of never-before-seen artwork from the many talented devs here at Bungie. If you’re a lore enthusiast, you’re definitely check it out and not miss out! Maybe there are even some cool things to uncover for what’s next, or a fresh perspective about the Destiny 2 experience thus far. Or maybe not. Guess you’ll just have to check it all out right here to see for yourself. After the TWAB, of course, we’re having a moment.

This week at Bungie, it’s all about the Vow of the Disciple World First race.

What a wild week it’s been. It feels like just yesterday we were announcing The Witch Queen, and now we find ourselves on the doorstep of a World First raid race. This is the weekend that many of you have been waiting for, strategically planning your Power gains and grabbing armfuls of snacks from grocery store shelves. In under two days, the race begins. Let’s get you up to speed.

If you’re new to Destiny or have yet to engage in a raid, this is the pinnacle of our endgame content. Players around the world are challenged to compete, decoding devious puzzles while engaging in heavy combat through multiple activity encounters. We’re not just talking a few enemies here and there, but hordes of combatants clawing away at lives and time while players race to the finish line. We expect no different from Vow of the Disciple with multiple teams at the final boss trading attempts at reaching victory.

Now, let’s talk rules. The World First race for Vow of the Disciple will take place in Contest Mode. This is a unique variant of the raid, only offered for the first 24 hours, capping every Guardian at a specific Power level to ensure an even playing field. We announced last week that 1530 Power is your target, as this will be the highest Power your Guardian will perform at against the enemies you face.

Hippy: This week at Bungie, we’re taking a deep breath and are feeling very thankful to our community.

The Witch Queen is now out and Guardians all around the world are charging into the next chapter of the Destiny universe. For the most part, queues were relatively short-lived, bugs were limited (knock on wood), and good times could be seen from a mile away as we watched reactions from those in the community dive in feet-first into Savathûn’s Throne World for the very first time. From the excitement over the Legendary Mode campaign to exploring the incredible potential of creating one’s own perfected arsenal, there is more to the beginning of this next step into the Destiny-verse than many were anticipating. And that’s not even diving into the post-campaign goodness like even more quests after you’re done crushing Hive Ghosts with your bare hands (a moment of silence, please).

To say that the team is proud would be a massive understatement, but it wouldn’t mean anything without you. Because of that, we just wanted to say a big ‘ol “thanks” to every single Destiny 2 player out there. Whether you’re an old vet like us or a Blueberry just diving in to see why everyone is screaming, “ah, worm!” you are what makes this game what it is today, and you push us to keep challenging what it means to be a Guardian. Here’s to you, and we can’t wait to see what you all think of what’s next. You think you know, but you have no idea.

I’m not crying, it’s just raining specifically on my face.

Destiny 2 - AlmightyEvent
The Witch Queen has stolen the Light. Her Hive army charges across the battlefield, gnashing at your armor before succumbing to the power of your fireteam. The Ghosts of your vanquished foes hover silently, an ominous portent of a battle with no end. In a matter of moments too short to catch your breath, the horde rises before you and charges again.
Eyes up, Guardian.

This week at Bungie, we are but days away from the launch of The Witch Queen.

We’re finally here. The last TWAB before The Witch Queen. Over the last few weeks, we’ve been touching on new systems arriving on February 22, picking through some quality of life changes for the rituals you engage with, and even spending some time with the team in a full-length ViDoc to set the stage for what’s coming. We have a few topics left to cover, but only a few days stand between you and the next chapter of Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 - dmg04
This week at Bungie, we showed off a heck of a lot, including more Void 3.0 goodness. We’re also setting some Legendary Campaign expectations alongside a special tribute to our heroes.

What a week so far, and we still have just a little more time to go before The Witch Queen finally arrives later this month. A lot of new info has dropped this week with an enticing new ViDoc and the breakdown many have been asking for regarding Void 3.0. Feeling like the rest of us and can’t wait to jump right into the next chapter of the Destiny 2 story? We get it. While we can’t (would love to, but can’t) gift the community with an early drop, there is an interactive experience available now that centers around Savathûn herself and getting to know the enemy up close and personal

Curious? As you should be! Feel free to mosey on over to that special experience right here (After reading this TWAB, of course; we’re bonding).

This week at Bungie, we’ve got a lot going on.

Hello, and welcome to another installment of This Week at Bungie, our weekly source of news and chatter from around the studio. Nothing too wild happened this week, right? Just your normal Monday morning announcement of BUNGIE JOINS SONY INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT (“SIE”).

Well, okay. That is kind of a big deal. If you haven’t heard much about it, well, we’ve joined Sony Interactive Entertainment! There’s a lot to unpack here, and we highly recommend reading through our announcement article from Bungie CEO Pete Parsons and our Destiny 2: Our Shared Vision article from the development team.

In the realm of Destiny 2, we don’t expect you to notice much of a change in your day-to-day adventures as a Guardian. We aren’t going to make Destiny 2 platform exclusive. We’re committed to a Destiny that you can play on your platform of choice, and that has the same great game experience regardless of what device you are using. We’re going to continue developing amazing new worlds for multiple platforms, and we’re more than excited about what potential this unlocks for us. If you haven’t read the FAQ in our update from the dev team, please do so!

So, with that said, what else is going on? Well, it’s February for starters. We’re less than three weeks away from the launch of The Witch Queen. Did you see that we hit one million pre-orders? Did you hear that, Savathûn? One million Guardians would like a word...

We also had a kickass gear trailer go live on Tuesday. Have you seen it yet? Well, even if you have, we’re going to embed the video right here for you to go through the carnage frame by frame, hunting for new info.

You may have noticed there was a quick little glimpse into weapon crafting at the top of that video. Well, let’s take a moment to walk through it. No, not just the video, but crafting as a feature. After, we’ll follow the TWAB tradition of digging into the nitty-gritty of sandbox balance patch notes in a quick preview. (Just kidding, this TWAB is already over 6,000 words. Nothing about it is quick.)

Let’s dig in.

Destiny 2 - dmg04
“Hey Guardian, come here often?” You can’t see it, but I’m totally doing a very alluring eyebrow wiggle but in exo; it’s fantastic. Anyway, it’s our weekly chance at a TWAB-tastic good time and maybe a few more hidden Easter eggs for those that liked finding them in previous blog posts. But alongside bad jokes and cute secret messages, we actually do have real game things to discuss. We’ve got some Ritual Reputation changes, an HDR setting revamp, an update on BattlEye, and absolutely nothing to do with Telesto. So, without further ado, let’s jump right into things!

Destiny 2 - dmg04
This week at Bungie, we’re sweeping up some blues.

Time’s been flying by, hasn’t it? Including the article you’re reading today, just five TWABs stand between you and The Witch Queen. We don’t (yet) have the technology to enter a hyper-sleep that can bridge these gaps, but we do have the power to set some expectations on topics we’ll be covering between now and then.

This week, we’ll be talking about Power, blue drops, Gunsmith reputation, some shifts in Exotic sources, and more. Over the next few TWABs, we’ll be talking Vanguard rep, Gambit reworks, weapon crafting, and Void 3.0... but not necessarily in that order. Don’t forget the patch note previews and additional weapon tuning details. It’ll be a fun time, and hopefully we’ll give you some things to chew on each week. We may even have a trailer or two to share with you before launch. If you haven’t been on social media in the last week, you might have missed some bite-sized snippets of story...

So, let’s kick things off with Power, and where your Guardian will stand when it’s time to embark on The Witch Queen’s campaign.
