Today, we had a lot to say about Destiny 2’s past, present, and future. Our game and community are thriving with new content going live right now and exciting things coming up in the near future. Below, you will find all of the trailers, videos, and info we shared today. This is your one-stop shop to find everything you need to know about The Witch Queen, Season of the Lost, and the 30th anniversary celebration. If you missed our big showcase stream today and want to watch it in its entirety, here you go.
The Witch Queen
We just gave you the first look at Destiny 2’s next expansion, The Witch Queen. Savathûn awaits in her Throne World as you will attempt to unravel her web of lies and survive the truth through a new campaign. New Lucent Hive Guardians wield the Light against you.
The Witch Queen is the definitive Destiny 2 campaign that captures the special feelings from memorable activities like Presage and our favorite Dungeons and translates them into a campaign experience. For the first time ever, you’ll have the option to turn up the difficulty and sweat it out through Legendary Mode. Your extra effort won’t just be for bragging rights: Choosing the road less traveled will earn you powerful gear and extra rewards.
In The Witch Queen, you won’t just be finding weapons, you will be making them. Crafting is coming to Destiny for the first time and it starts with the Glaive – Destiny's first and only first-person melee weapon. The Glaive is a versatile new energy weapon archetype that allows you to utilize melee combos, mid-ranged projectiles, and defensive capabilities. We’ll have more to share on the Glaive in the future, including class-specific Exotic variants with unique attacks.
The Glaive isn’t the only weapon that you’ll be able to craft. You’ll also be able to forge all of The Witch Queen and Seasonal weapons with your own two hands. Crafting is more versatile than the Umbral system and will even allow you to hunt for specific perks.
The campaign is only the beginning. The Witch Queen also introduces a new six-player activity, a new raid, and much, much, more.
This is it, the last TWAB of the Season. It’s been a blast watching Guardians splice their way through the Vex network, tackle Vault of Glass, and pile up a ton of new rewards during Season of the Splicer. We have jam packed a lot of Destiny moments since Beyond Light debuted last fall. As we prepare to look forward next week, let's take a look back at some of the most epic of Destiny moments.
We are less than a week away from the big reveal showcase. No spoilers but we have a tune-in page set up and will be streaming on both Twitch and YouTube on August 24. Seven years of Destiny have led to this moment. Join us to learn more about a new adventure unlike any you’ve encountered before. The pre-show is starting at 8AM Pacific and the showcase itself will kick off at 9AM Pacific. Come find out if you can survive the truth.
This week at Bungie, we take a pass on Exotic armors and mods.
As we get closer to launch, I can’t help but feel we should keep these introductions short and sweet. So, with that in mind, I’ll keep this to a bulleted list:
Have you played Destiny 2 this week?
Check out the Epilogue. It’s pretty sweet. No spoilers!
We have less than two weeks until our Destiny 2 Showcase.
Are you hyped? We are.
We previewed some Season 15 Champion Mods this week.
Time is flying by. We have a bit to cover. We hit you last week with a bulky sandbox update for abilities. This week, we’re focusing on Exotic armor and armor mods. Let’s get into the thick of it.
Please give the whole thread a read, but for the tl:dr crew, the main thing we want everyone to know is that we have a plan, it's going to take some time, and we are excited about the future of creating a more consistent delivery of PVP content each year.
This week at Bungie, we begin to prepare for Cross Play!
Welcome to another installment of the TWAB. We have four more of these before the August 24 reveal! Wait a second... we only have four? Including this one? Oh wow. We have a bit to get through.
Let’s start with something that’s going on in the game right now. Solstice of Heroes. Our annual Solstice event is coming to an end next Tuesday, August 3. You have a little under five days to complete your armor objectives. White glows don’t have a deadline, so if you’re still gathering orbs (and objectives), take your time. Dungeons, Raids, and Competitive Crucible objectives for the glows can be completed any time.
Still with me? Cool. Let’s start looking at the future. We hosted a beta for this a few months back, but we’re happy to share more details about an upcoming feature that players have been asking for since Destiny first arrived: Cross Play.
It’s already late July. Can you believe it? Seems like 2020 lasted about 5 years but 2021 seems to be moving along at a better rate. Who says time is a constant?
Anyway, Solstice of Heroes is going strong. Have you upgraded your armor yet? Next week is the final week of the event so go check out the EAZ and earn that armor before the event ends on 8/3. We had a lot to go over last week with a preview of ritual reputation changes coming next Season. It’s a little lighter this week but we do have some important info about the new Bungie Store and some changes to Armor Synthesis. Let’s get to it.
This week at Bungie, we talk rituals and reputation.
Week two of Solstice of Heroes began. Between celebrating your accomplishments over the last year and a return of sunlight to the Last City, things are feeling pretty good. Make sure to pack some sunscreen on your way to the EAZ. Wouldn’t want you to get sunburnt.
We have six weeks until a new Season. There are many of us who have an insatiable appetite for content, but there’s always going to be some time to relax during the Seasons of Destiny. Gives folks time to catch up, or just take a breather from our fight against the Darkness. We think it’s about time we start trickling out some fun details. A few little snacks here and there, or a few bite-sized treats to enjoy if you aren’t still chewing on a Season full of Overrides, Expunges, and more.
No, we aren’t getting married, but we did send out a save the date. Mark down August 24 in your novelty paper calendars that you bought from that mall kiosk. Or maybe save a reminder in your phone if you have abandoned physical calendars altogether. We are looking forward to sharing more with you about the future of Destiny 2. See you then.
Back to the present. A new update went live this week and Solstice of Heroes has kicked off. Guardians are buzzing around the European Aerial Zone chasing after chests and upgrading their armor as we speak. That’s not all, Vault of Glass Master difficulty also became available this weekend for all players. You can get a rundown of what to expect from last week’s TWAB.
The Last City of humanity is built, not from iron and stone, but of heroism and bravery. Join your fellow Guardians and remember those who stood in defense of our home. Eva Levante awaits you in the Tower with words of gratitude and the promise of celebration.
ACTIVITIES
Islands in the Sky
Join high-flying fireteams as you soar across the European Aerial Zone in search of glory and treasure. The sky’s the limit on how many bosses you defeat and how many caches you unlock. Well... the sky and the clock. Make haste, Guardians.
ARMOR
Light Up the Night
Earn class-specific Solstice armor and improve its quality by adventuring through a variety of objectives. Once fully upgraded, the glow from this Legendary armor will guide your fireteam through even the darkest of nights.
GAMEPLAY
Refraction
Each day will challenge you to match your attacks to the daily element in order to charge one of four unique elemental buffs. On Prism days, all four buffs can charge but only one can be activated at a time. Choose your subclass wisely.
REWARDS
Glimmer and Virtue
Although glowing Solstice armor does a good job of stealing the show, it isn’t the only prize to chase. There’s a new Legendary Shotgun, new Exotic Ghost Shell, new emblem, and plenty of Solstice Packages to unlock.
BUNGIE REWARDS
Solstice Wear
Start celebrating with earning a new emblem for completing the introductory journey. Then complete the final Solstice armor set to unlock the exclusive 2021 Solstice of Heroes shirt for purchase.
EVERVERSE
Let it Glow
Adorn any of your Legendary armor with universal ornaments that glow to match your subclass – available for Silver or Bright Dust! There are also new ships, Sparrows, and eye-catching cosmetics to collect.
This week at Bungie, we prepare for Solstice of Heroes 2021!
It’s almost time for a celebration. Earlier this week, Guardians pushed back against the Endless Night. Through relentless Overrides and adventures to Expunge the Vex network, Quria was found and deleted. While larger threats to humanity remain, one can take a moment to breathe and rest easy knowing that the people of the Last City are safer. In the wise words of Sant-14, it is time for celebration. Solstice of Heroes is the perfect moment for that.
A big party in the Tower isn’t the only thing that’s going on. Eva Levante returns, bringing new armor for Hunters, Titans, and Warlocks to earn. As you upgrade your sets, you’ll once again be able to earn some magnificent white glows to adorn your armor with. If you have a taste for the elements, Eververse will also offer Universal Ornament Bundles for purchase which will shine brightly with glows that reflect your equipped subclass.
For a full rundown of Solstice and everything coming, make sure to check out our Seasonal Event page on Bungie.net. I'm personally getting excited for a fun new shotgun that will be available during the event...
