Dinkum - taj14
G’day!

Can you sense the cooler breeze on your face and notice the trees changing colours? Do you find yourself reaching for a blanket at night or an extra jumper in the early morning? Are the temperatures outside rather comfy, with the sun no longer scorching you in seconds? If you’re feeling that cooler change, it can only mean one thing: Autumn has arrived in Dinkum. And this season’s Autumn has brought along the Breezy Autumn Update!

When you stroll around your island, take a look around and see how more colourful this Autumn is. The trees have changed to shades of gold and orange, and if you’re paying attention during the night, you might see a new weather event. This rare event will happen more often during the Autumn and Winter seasons.

But don't just look up at the sky; take a moment to notice the Mushrooms sprouting from the ground. Different varieties of mushrooms will appear across the island during autumn mornings, but they will wilt at noon. You’ll want to gather these mushrooms nice and early, so you use them to cook up new food recipes or utilise them in crafting new items. Who knew these tiny fungi could be so versatile?

As the nights grow chilly, there are always some ways to stay warm.

But it’s not just the weather! With this update, I’ve added some new items and quality-of-life changes that will make gameplay a lot more breezy!

John now sells the handy Hand Trolley, capable of moving full containers! No need to empty containers before relocating them - convenience at its finest. In addition, building licence level 3 now gives access to the crafting recipe for the Advanced Crafting Tables. These fancy new tables can pull crafting resources from nearby chests, allowing players to craft up a storm.

Oh, and Franklyn now offers a new contraption that will make sorting items from your inventory and into containers much easier. You might need to give him a shiny disc to make him learn it, but I’ll leave that as a surprise for you to discover!

If you're looking to lighten your workload, consider investing in a Hand Trolley.

Another big change I’m excited about is the Wish Fountain. This new deed is available from the beginning of the game, so you can speak to Fletch if you want to build one on your island.

The Wish Fountain can be used to make “wishes” that change how your Dinkum island behaves. These wishes last forever, but you can only have one wish in effect at a time.

For example, you can wish for your island to be peaceful, which makes animals only attack you if you attack them. You could also wish to make your island more dangerous, but this will make animals drop twice as much loot. There are a few more wishes, but I’ll let you discover them for yourself.

What will you wish for?

This is just a taste of some of the new content that’s available to you with the new update. There is a new seasonal event that appears in Autumn if you have a Band Stand on your island. There is also a new stamina system, new fish, bugs, crops, clothing, and crafting recipes to discover.

Download the Breezy Autumn Update now and see what changes and additions you can find! And if you want to know the full list of them, check the changelog below. And as always, let me know your thoughts and comments below!

Have fun playing and speak to you soon!

James

G’day!

I was just thinking to myself - isn’t it fantastic that every day is an opportunity to celebrate our incredible planet? We often take it for granted, but let’s not forget that if we don’t take care of it, one day we might lose it all for eternity. Personally, I find great joy in the simple pleasures: the melodious chirping of birds, the gentle caress of sunlight on my face, and the invigorating freshness of clean air.

And guess what? Today marks the beginning of something special – The Earth Appreciation Festival! It's time to ramp up our gratitude for Mother Earth. To kick things off, I've spoken with James and organised a 20% discount on the game. So, grab the discount while it lasts because this festivity ends on April 29th.

Let’s make every day Earth Day!

All The best,

Irwin

G’day there,

I hope you are having a great day today, because I’ll tell you what, mine has been pretty fun. And that is the reason why I wanted to contact you! I have to tell you what I discovered earlier today.

This morning during my routine walk around the Island I went to our weather station to check what kind of weather I can expect over the next few days. Imagine my surprise when I saw that the station showed that some strange, never-seen-before anomalies will occur in the not-so-distant future. I think we should all keep our eyes on the sky from now on. I wonder what that might be… I am really curious now, Ha Ha Ha!

This upcoming weather looks odd. I don’t think the umbrella will help here.

After checking the weather station, I had a nice chat with John. He told me that soon his shop will stock more varieties of veggies. I hope he won’t get angry at me for telling you that. He also mentioned that he saw some mushrooms all over the Dinkum island? Imagine what we could do with them if that’s true! Hmmm… I am getting hungry when I’m just thinking of all the possibilities.

I’ve heard that mushrooms are more closely related to humans than they are to plants… that’s a little bit scary, Ha Ha Ha.

Oh and one last thing, I got a telegram this afternoon and I think I should show it to you too. Here it is.

Hello Dinkum Islander STOP new items STOP new vehicle STOP new food recipes STOP new weapons STOP and more STOP being delivered real soon STOP

Unfortunately, that’s all I’ve received but it looks like that with the new Autumn season coming soon we can expect some changes in Dinkum. And it seems that we don’t need to wait that long to discover them!

Ok, that’s it from my end. I hope you will have a fantastic day and speak to you soon,

Fletch - Head of Island Exploration

Hello there, James here! Just wanted to say that the Breezy Autumn update is not that far away from being released. I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been working on. I hope you’ll all like it. Speak to you really soon.

This hotfix will hopefully address the issues that has been preventing players from saving and showing some text correctly during gameplay.

This bug was caused by an error on my end due to an implementation of a localisation tool.

I am sorry to anyone who has experienced problems saving over the past 2 days. I hope that this update lets you return to your regular Dinkum-ing.

Thanks,

James

G’day everyone,

I am absolutely thrilled to unveil the brand-new Dinkum artwork. Bonza! I thought that it was time to give Dinkum’s artwork a bit of a refresh, a new coat of paint you might even say. We spoke to the very talented Natalia if she could make Dinkum’s art sparkle. And this is what she came up with. Personally, I love it! What about you?

Dinkum is also part of the Steam Winter Sale, and as of right now it has a wintery-cool 30% discount – the first time ever too. If you haven't joined the Dinkum community, now's your golden opportunity. Join the crew and spend the holidays having a great time on your, or your friend’s, Dinkum island.

Thank you everyone for playing Dinkum this year! I hope you’ve all enjoyed the updates, and I can’t wait to share the progress of the next update with you all in the new year!

G’day mate,

I don’t know if you’ve noticed it, but a special feeling is in the air. People are more relaxed, the animals are more cheerful, and even John is sharing a funny joke or two, ha ha ha! The Holidays are coming to Dinkum Island, meaning the Festive season is upon us!

Everything’s ready for a Festive dinner. Benny, stay away from the presents!

Our old friend Nick who paid us a visit last year is back again. He says that he loves the beach a lot, as it’s really cold where he’s originally from. You’ll find him relaxing on the beach if it’s a sunny morning, so look for him. You never know what interesting things he might have with him this time. Also, there’s been some strange things falling out of the sky recently. If you want more details, please check the bulletin board. I wonder what they can be…

Our old good mate Nick is back in Dinkum too!

There have also been reports of some strange white Jackaroo’s running around. It’s almost as if they are lost. Maybe you could catch them and take them to an Animal Drop Off Point?

That’s it from me for today, but before I leave, I just want to wish you a happy holiday break, no matter where you are. Thank you so much for spending time with me and everyone else on the Dinkum Island this year. I hope we will spend even more time as the holiday season is upon us.

Have a happy and relaxing Holidays!

Take good care of yourself and Happy Holidays! And if you want to know all the Festive event-related additions, check the changelog below.

Hi there. I just wanted to let you know that I am aware that some players have been having issues with saving and loading their games.

Since releasing Dinkum I have paid as much care as possible to keeping player’s saves throughout the entire Early Access period. This always has been and continues to be very important to me.

For the Summer Sun Update we made a lot of changes to the internal of Dinkum, including writing a new save system. The old system was very bloated - it had far too many separate files and often caused problems with Steam Cloud syncs. The new system is much smaller, taking the file amount down from around 60 files to just 3.

The Summer Sun update was tested publicly for over three weeks, this was in part due to my concerns with the new save system. Over those 3 weeks, a lot of bugs were reported, but no issues were found relating to players using the new save system.

However, since the public release, some rare cases of save file corruption have been reported. For anyone that has experienced this I would like to sincerely apologize. I know how much some player’s islands mean to them and I can not express my regret enough.

I have been working tirelessly on improving the new save system and I’ve included these changes in this hotfix. I am hopeful that these changes will mitigate any further problems.

Once again, I apologize if your save was affected by these changes.

I hope this hotfix prevents these kinds of problems in future.

Thank you everyone for your understanding and patience,

James

Patch notes:

  • Fixed a problem that prevented some games from saving and loading correctly
  • Fixed a problem that prevented save slots from appearing correctly
  • Decreased save and load time
  • Increased probability of rain for some seasons
  • Fixed the Festive Roo Plush changing to regular Roo Plush when picked up
  • Festive Roo Plush will no longer appear in shops and is no longer orderable

G’day!

The sun is beaming strong on Dinkum island, which means that we’re approaching the summer season! Slip on some summer clothing, slop some sunscreen, slap on a hat to protect you from the heat, and download the latest Dinkum update - it's going to be hot! So let’s see what awaits you on your island.

First up, get ready to pack your bags and head over to the brand-new AeroTours Airport! When you're in need of a soul-soothing vacation or an exciting new journey, there's no better place to go. It’s your gateway to a whole new place to discover. Hop aboard the Airship for an off-island adventure every Sunday, departing from the Airport. Just strike up a conversation with Nancy, secure your Boarding Pass, and off you go. Who knows what you'll stumble upon there? You might even find some buried treasure!

New Dinkum Airport is now available to build. Talk to Fletch and get your new deed.

Talk to Nancy and prepare yourself for take-off. The weather is perfect, so expect a smooth flight.

Now, what's summer without a blissful day at the beach, am I right? It'd be a bit of a missed opportunity, I'd say. Now you can savour the fantastic beach weather even more. With this update, you will get over 100 new items, some of which can make your seaside moments even more delightful. Beach days just got a whole lot better and more fun.

Summer is tailor-made for beach parties.

But there's more. Can you ever have too many vehicles? I certainly don't think so, especially when they can take you soaring through the skies. In this Summer Sun update, you will get a new vehicle: the Hot Air Balloon. Just make sure you have the right licence and hop aboard. It's spacious enough to bring all your friends along for the ride too. What a nice way to travel through the skies looking down on your Dinkum island.

And if you happen to have some spare paint lying around, you can give that Hot Air Balloon a colourful makeover as well.

For all you fishing enthusiasts out there, there’s something special in store for you too. Get ready for the new Summer and Winter Fishing Competitions. Dust off your trusty fishing rod and start practising, because the angler who reels in the most fish will claim the top spot. And who knows what the prize might be…

Also, a little heads up. Get ready to stay one step ahead of the weather, regardless of the season you find yourself in. With this latest update, we’ve introduced a dynamic weather system that brings day-to-day weather changes to your adventures. Oh, and remember to seek shelter from that scorching summer sun! The Heatwave, a new weather event will show just how hot Dinkum Island can get now.

With the Summer Sun update, you will also get a new fruit, a tasty new crop, a new weapon, stylish furniture, trendy clothing, and lots, lots more. Dive into the game and explore all these fantastic additions right away. I’ve also increased the number of players that can now play to six, so if you have a couple more friends who want to explore your Dinkum island together, now you can. And if you're craving more details, check the changelog below.

And finally, now that the Summer Sun update is out, I’ll be slowly getting ready for the final 1.0 Dinkum release. Don’t worry though, as I have a lot more ideas for new content for you before the big final release. I’ll tell you all about it soon, but in the meantime, enjoy the new update. And as always, tell me what you think of it too. I love hearing all the feedback from you all.

Speak to you soon!

- James
