Bows! Arrows! Swords! Horses! WASD camera movement! Our Total War: Shogun 2 review.

Total War: Shogun 2 is one hell of a game. A few of us watched Tim warmongering during lunch; the resulting match was a 30 minute massacre. I learned something from that battle. It doesn't matter how effective flaming arrows prove, we'll whoop and yelp whenever they're used.

We awarded Total War: Shogun 2 an Editor's Choice award because it's completely damn awesome. To celebrate it's release we have ten Steam codes to give away. Read on to find out how to enter.

If you're having trouble playing Shogun 2 right now, you're not alone. A patch that was released in the last hour has just locked out what appears to be the entire playerbase. Currently, if you try and start the game, you'll be confronted with a Steam error message: Incomplete installation of Total War: SHOGUN 2 (15). A long thread on the Steam forums suggests that it's not an isolated problem, and CA have already said they're aware of the issue.

That doesn't stop it being phenomenally irritating.

UPDATE: And it's fixed. That was ridiculous.

It's March 15 2011, which can only mean a couple of things. Firstly, it's Tuesday. Secondly, Total War: Shogun 2 is finally out! You can get hold of it now on Steam. For a few reasons why you should give to give the game a go, check out our Total War: Shogun 2 review. Before you install the game, you might want to spring clean your hard drive a bit, as Shogun 2 will take up a staggering 15GB of space.

PC games have been steadily growing in size for years of course, but the Total War games are getting fatter than all the rest. To put it in perspective, at 15GB, Total War: Shogun 2 is 30 times the size of the original Shogun: Total War, released 11 years ago. It's nearly twice the size of the whole of Wikipedia, and it's 15 times the size of the Encyclopaedia Britannica. In short, you could use that space to learn almost everything there is to know about anything. Let's be honest, though, that would be nowhere near as fun.
