Dear Founders,
Thank you very much for supporting Eternal Return. Eternal Return couldn't have come as far as it has without you.
Buying the Founder pack provides you with 8 characters, but some of you had already unlocked some of them prior to purchasing the pack. In order to ease any feeling of unfairness, we have been refunding all the duplicate characters.
The refunds were given as NP, the game's premium currency, which made some feel like Founder's that received refunds had actually received more benefits than Founders that didn't get any refunds. Since our many of our "long-term" Founders had bought the pack before the closed Beta had begun, we were able to give them their rewards immediately, meaning very few of them asked for refunds.
We didn't foresee the refund system being abused - we should have set a fair refund policy from the beginning. It didn't seem fair for earlier Founders to get less benefits, so we'd like to apologize for this.
We've discussed how to solve this so that all the Founders who've trusted us could get the same benefits, and we have decided to also provide NP to Founders who couldn't get a refund.
Founders who didn't get a character refund = 2150 NP gift (equivalent to 2 characters)
Founders who got 1 character refunded = 1075 NP gift (equivalent to 1 character) + 8050 A-coin (equivalent to 1 character)
Founders who got 2 characters refunded = 16100 A-Coin (equivalent to 2 characters)
Founders who got 3+ characters refunded: Unfortunately, we have to take back NP exceeding 2150 NP and send you the amount of refunded characters in A-coin (8020 A-coin per character)

Hello to all wandering Lumia Island, GM Aesop here with some news.
We received a lot of feedback about ending the Open Beta; we’d love to allow everyone to play more, so we’ve decided to extend the Open Beta for a bit longer.
Open Beta has been extended until October 11th, 11 PM PST.
We may be lacking in some areas, but the development team is working hard to release the game on Early Access and will continue to work on hard!
We are planning to do balance adjustments twice before Early Access, once on September 29th, and once on October 6th. We ask once again for your understanding as we may not be able to implement many bug fixes or feature improvements at that time.
We will be closing the servers from October 11th, 11 PM PST to October 14th, 2 AM PST in order to transfer data and set up the new Early Access client. The game will not be available during that time, including Custom Games and other modes.
Please note that customer inquiries and answers on Discord may be significantly slowed at that time.
We will discontinue the Founder Pack from September 30th, but all characters will be available through the free rotation during the extension period. The free rotation will go back to normal at the start of Early Access.
Our team is doing our best to match this schedule, but please note that Early Access may face a 2 to 3 week delay due to this extension. If delayed, however, we will extend the Open Beta accordingly.
We are still discussing the final details of the release with Steam. The entire schedule may vary by a few days depending on Steam's requirements and policy.
About the Steam Game Festival
From October 7th 10 AM PST to the end of the Open Beta, Eternal Return will participate in the "Steam Game Festival".
The Steam Game Festival is an event that gathers all Steam games currently having a "Demo".
We plan to open Europe and South American servers during the festival:
Frankfurt (EU): 10 AM to 2 PM PST (7 PM to 11 PM CEST)
São Paulo (South America): 3 PM to 7 PM PST (7 PM to 11 PM BRT)
Along with the promotion the festival provides, we hope to gain attention for our Early Access release and qualify for more promotion within Steam thanks to that.
As a part of the Game Festival, we will be hosting two developer Q&A streams on October 8th (3 AM PST for the Korean stream and 8 PM PST for the English stream). Following Steam guidelines, we will be conducting the Q&A as follows:
The theme for this Q&A is mid and long term goals for the development of Eternal Return. Please feel free to ask us anything you want concerning the content of the game.

Updating the matchmaking process and the display of dropped items.
Players will now choose a character after matchmaking.
No longer able to select duplicate characters between teammates in Duo and Squad.
Players will be penalized for leaving matches after they’ve been found. Penalized players will receive a dodge penalty and will be unable to find a match for a bit.
At the moment, players will be unable to change weapons in the loading screen after choosing it during the character selection phase, but will be enabled at a later patch.

Spotlight - Hyunwoo
Hyunwoo has reigned at the top of the win rate list but has had, by far, the lowest kill count. He had raw strength, but Hyunwoo's tactical play/macro game was..monotonous. Instead of nerfing Hyunwoo's passive and adjusting his items, we’d like to try to adjust both his normal attacks and skills to allow more aggressive and confrontational gameplay styles.

Even after a slight decrease following the last patch, Li Dailin still has one of the highest pick rates. We’re looking at her early game through Spirited Kick (Q). An early weapon and three consecutive kicks can HURT.
The duration of the movement speed reduction on Broken Bullet (Q) was way long compared to other skills. We’re also trying to lower Magnus's CC abilities with the Bat weapon skill(Full Swing), especially in Squad mode.

Two players collecting the same collectible at the same time will no longer both receive the item.
No longer display abnormally short charging times when automatically replenishing charges.
Xiukai no longer receives twice the stacks of Juggernaut Chef after being revived after being downed.
Food made by Xiukai no longer loses the buff when dropped one by one.
Fixed the bug with assault rifle reload not sounding when reloaded by Isol.
Lowered the probability of bots tunneling on you in vs AI mode.
For the sake of skill clarity, changed the effect of Jackie from “Hemorage” to "Bleeding" and kept healing reduction as just "healing reduction" instead of "Bleeding".
Tooltips are now correctly displayed in all locations.
Now correctly displays items that result in stacks of 2+ of said item being crafted. (Steel, Iron Sheet, etc.)
Starting now, we will only refunding up to 2 characters in NP if you have purchased the End of Despair Pack after unlocking the characters.
If you purchased the pack and bought characters in the pack with A-Coin, you will be eligible for 2 of those characters to be refunded in NP.
If you have purchased the characters, and later decided to support us by buying the End of Despair pack, you can also receive a refund for up to 2 characters in NP.
The pack is being sold at a very discounted price compared to its real price out of respect for our fans and players willing to support the project. After some possible cases of abuse, we decided to limit it to only 2 characters per transaction.
The two character refund is an approximate estimation to how much our backers are investing in the pack.

Hey everyone, Aesop here with some quick adjustments and changes for a couple things. We’ve added some reasoning behind some of the changes as well. We might still be lacking a bit of context, but we're always trying to improve, so we ask for your understanding going forward.
Character
Three modes require different focuses and specialties per character and it makes it harder to balance. Each mode has its own playstyle and fun, and the number of players in each mode keeps growing. The proportion of players in each mode is pretty even, so we are trying to keep equal priority when it comes to balancing. However, this is a long process as there are many elements affected by balancing. We’ve kept a max of 15% balance adjustment allowed in each mode -- some characters are getting close to this maximum. We will prepare balance measures other than these mode adjustments for future updates.
Spotlight - Isol
Instead of weakening the synergy between Semtex Bomb (Q) and Rebel Assault (W), we want to improve the balance between pistols and assault rifles by strengthening synergy of normal attacks with assault rifles and Semtex Bomb.
Although you can increase the effects of Semtex Bomb using normal attacks of the assault rifles, the synergy between Semtex Bomb and Rebel Assault with pistols results in less than ideal interactions.

The highest tier of items are usually exponentially more efficient than the lower tiers. Two-handed swords have received an overall buff, but we would also like to experiment with two-handed swords, dual swords, and bats in order to improve the efficiency of mid-level equipment.
Please understand that changing the location or recipes for materials requires a lot of preparation, and it is being carried out slowly.
Tonfa has a high win rate, but a low kill rate, so LP is rarely affected. We are adjusting glove weapons as Hyunwoo (high win rate) and Li Dailin (high pick rate) are both slightly above top-tier according to data.
