We have some good news to share! The next Mega Patch is planned to be launched next week! So in just a couple of days you will be able to push forward your investigations about Tatyana and check out all the quests we prepared.
But apart from story quests, which we discussed last time, this update will consist of other things, like changes to the gameplay. Let’s have a look at them now.
Adrenaline redesign
Chernobylite was planned from the start to be a challenging game with many elements to be repeated and mastered. But at some points we were too harsh for the players who were forced repeat their missions due to bugs or simply due to some simple errors. So we came up with a solution and modified the way adrenaline works.
Now its use is not associated with mission failures, and additionally gives a special power up that should help you get out of a difficult situation.
Day limit - it’s up to you!
Time loop in our game is very important - it allows you to make different choices in missions, unlock new companions, or discover new secrets by alternate memories. A small limit allows you to focus on the plot and quickly correct your mistakes. Bigger will let you spend more time on survival and your team. How to reconcile these two approaches? The easiest way is to give you a choice - now when starting a new game you can choose how many days a single time loop will take.
New items to craft
Recently we added a new weapon - Assault Rifle - to the game so some of you already tested it in action. Now it’s time for attachments and upgrades thanks to which you will be able to adjust your new weapon to your needs on a brand new crafting table!
Making of extra goodie
Remember our Kickstarter campaign? The ultimate reward we offered to our backers was the Eternal Fame Edition which included 3D scanning and including the backer’s scan into the game. We’re currently working on their models and here’s one of them. Nice isn’t it?
Here’s some fresh news right from the oven. In today’s report we want to tell you a few words about new story quests which we’ve been working on for the last few months and also some changes on Kopachi and Pripyat Port levels. We’re planning to add them soon, some in the next mega patch and some soon after.
Oh and in case you haven’t noticed, Chernobylite is now on sale until January 27! Those who are interested to visit the Chernobyl Zone themselves, now it’s your chance at a lower price! Now, back to development news ;)
STORY QUESTS
The next mega patch is right around the corner and along with it, you will be able to check out new quests related to Olivier, Mikhail or the new character - Georgiy. Of course, we don’t want to spoil you anything so let’s have a look at brief descriptions of the quests.
SECRET STORAGE (Olivier) Olivier overheard NAR chatter on the radio about a stash in Kopachi next to Pripyat River. He asks Igor to check it out and bring some valuable supplies for the base.
HERMIT (Mikhail)* Mikhail, contacted by his good friend who is in deep trouble with the NAR, asks Igor for a favour to find this friend in Pripyat Port and check if he is alright. Will Igor help this mysterious person?
BIG FISH (Mikhail)* Mikhail approaches Igor and tells him that someone very important will be visiting Kopachi village. Alas, a big fish, who may have some vital information, is heavily guarded by soldiers. Mikhail asks Igor to go to Kopachi and get his hidden weapon which will help Igor deal with the soldiers.
*You need to have Mikhail on your team to do this quest.
OLD FRIEND (Georgiy) Igor heard soldiers talking on the radio about some Professor Georgy Semonov who will be soon in Kopachi kindergarten. Igor knew once a man by this name, his mentor, many many years ago. Will this be a chance to meet an old friend from the past?
POWER PLANT PLANS (Georgiy) One day Igor’s radio picks a mysterious looped recording. He has some documents for Igor hidden in the Pripyat Hospital which many contain an important clue for the investigation. This may be a breakthrough!
New events in locations
Story quests are not the only thing that are coming soon to the game. We’re also filling the levels which are currently a bit empty with new events! Most of them will add a little weirdness and creepiness to Kopachi and Pripyat port. Some will involve dolls, some shadows, stalkers or Tatyana.
Making of extra goodie
Have you ever wondered how a raw 3D scan looks like while it’s rendering? Have a look at this building. Anyone recognizes what it is? That’s a tricky one but a true stalker will know ;)
And when a 3D scan is properly prepared, rendered and cleaned, the effects can be stunning. This gym is just a WIP version and requires still a lot of reworking, but looks awesome already isn’t it?

AMD has told us that drivers released at the beginning of the year should noticeably speed up the game. You can expect at least a few percent increase in performance. Remember to update your drivers!
Happy New Year everyone! Did you make any resolutions? For us it’s going to be a challenging year with many updates to go and now we would like to share our first report this year with news from behind the scenes!
Apart from polishing the things you’ve reported to us so far, we’re focusing on preparing content for the next Mega Patch we planned on our roadmap.
New Character - Georgiy
One of the main things coming with the next Mega Patch is a new character - Georgiy. For the last weeks we’ve been working on 3D modelling and preparing animations.
Improvements in combat and AI
We know, that one of the things that bother you the most is combat and AI and we’re working on them very very hard to make you happy. Out of the things we did lately are many fixes and additions in animations like, for example, covers, crouches or IK system - thanks to which the characters’ feet will react to the terrain and look more naturally. Have a look!
When it comes to combat changes, you will be able to test them very soon. We modified the balance of the combat itself and health, enemies’ behavior etc. We can’t wait to show them to you!
Changes in the UI
We’re constantly working on UI - reworking, redesigning and coding. It will be clearer and more consistent visually. Soon you will see the freshened-up main menu and feeding distribution UI in action. For now have a look at the concepts.
Last but not least…
Here is a tiny sneak peek of assets being prepared for the Lenin Square. Follow our next reports for more!
That’s it for today and we hope to hear from you in the next updates! Dancing Georgiy is saying bye bye to you too ;)
Most of you are thinking about Christmas and presents, and we prepared something special for you as well! Just as promised in the Roadmap, we would like to introduce Red Forest Mega Patch! Merry Christmas everyone! ;) Have a look on what you may find in the update below.
Behold, Red Forest is here!
The last weeks were devoted mainly to the new location called “Red Forest”. We’ve been teasing you with screenshots for some time, and now the moment has come! The gates are now open and you can explore the place yourselves. We hope you like it!
Changes in the Base
Feeding system redesigned
We received a lot of feedback regarding the feeding system, that’s why we decided to redesign it completely. Thanks to you we knew what to change so now the system should be more intuitive and transparent. Let us know what you think of it!
Storage changes
Weapon cabinet and Pantry have a visual representation of the objects stored in it. Now you can see your things inside them.
Free Play Mode
As mentioned in our last Weekly Report, we introduced the Free Play Mode which will allow you to choose any location in a selected weather configuration. You will also be able to choose from the missions available in that location, turn random events on or off or even start the game with all available weapons and skills!
Important: After the day ends, the game will automatically return to the main manu, so treat this mode as a test field for you.
Framerate improvements
We kept on working on optimization and we’re consequently moving forward! Players with lower PC specs should notice a significant improvement in framerate. We hope this will make the game more enjoyable for you.
Lots of fixes!
Fixed problems with water visualisation
Fixed problem with Sashko accomplishing his task before being assigned to it
Various fatal errors are now fixed. Thank you for your reports and keep on sending us your logs and saves!
Fixed problems with item storage in the base.
Fixed error with weapon upgrade display in other languages than English.

Another week - another weekly report with an update about the progress on the Mega Patch where you will find what to expect, and we hope that you will like the things we are going to present to you in the next update.
As per last report, we received a lot of feedback from you and we used that to make a huge progress to improve our game.
Without further ado, let’s recap on what’s new:
The Red Forest
Our work on the Red Forest is at the final stage. We are making the last corrections, also we are adding quests, events etc. Our testers are checking if everything is OK and we hope that you’ll enjoy the results.
Free Play Mode
We know for a fact, that many of you like to play very specific missions in our game. Therefore, we are working on a free play gamemode for you, in which you will be able to choose any location at your discretion in the selected weather configuration, to see how the place looks like in different weather variants. You will also be able to choose from the missions available in that location and turn random events on or off so that they will not distract you during the playthrough. You will even be able to start the game with all available weapons and skills!
This will allow you, among other things, to test the variations of missions and it will give our virtual photographers more freedom to prepare the environment for screenshots better.
Important: After the day ends, the game will automatically return to the main manu, so treat this mode as a test field for you :)
Optimization:
Of course, we have not forgotten about optimization! In the "Red Forest" update you can expect a slight increase in the smoothness of the game. We're working hard to make the game run better even on weaker configurations. This is not an easy task, but we are doing our best to make you happy.
Community:
If you like what we do, follow us on our social media. New "behind the scenes" materials and "beginners guide to chernobylite" are presented every week. Moreover, our Developer live streams will return next week! Again, you will have the opportunity to see our developers in action, ask questions or even win prizes!
Another week of work in the studio is behind us. We are working hard, in order to prepare new patches to fix some issues reported. Also we are making progress with the content for the next Mega-Patch. In addition, since the last report, we fixed the problems with the storage system and the shotgun you reported to us. Thank you for that!
We see that the changes we make and the content we add are the things which you like. We recently received a large number of positive reviews, and we are grateful for that.
Remember that everything we are working on, is to diversify and lengthen your gameplay. We want to give you freedom in terms of gameplay style.
The Red Forest
The preparation of the new level, The Red Forest, is at a really advanced stage. Our Level Designers are working hard on many aspects and are refining the elements of the map so you will see the effects of their work soon. In the meantime, we’ll show you a couple of screenshots of it to arouse your curiosity:
Food Ration Splitting
The Red Forest is not the only thing we are currently working on. The current system of sharing food with companions got a lot of mixed opinions, so we are testing new ways of making it more transparent both in terms of how it works, and the appearance of the interface. You can expect the refreshed version of this system in the next Mega-Patch.
Weapon Upgrade System
Our Community liked the Weapon Upgrade System, that was added in the previous Mega-Patch. Thank you very much for the really large amount of feedback. That leads us to the fact that in the near future we want to add more elements to it, so the possibilities of personalizing your weapon during the gameplay will be much greater. In addition, we are still improving the readability of the elements, and we want to introduce a system of indicators in the form of stripes, that will show you more precisely how your weapon parameters change in a given configuration.
Community:
Recently, new things have appeared in our social media.
