Norland News Recap

Last month, Norland released a new roadmap that outlines what the development team hopes to accomplish in the last half of 2025.


Their primary goal is to broaden the game, improve the mid-to-late game experience, and make progression feel more interesting and tangible in the long term. They also want to expand the economy, character, and AI systems to add more variety and replayability.

Additionally, Norland has received two significant updates in the last two months.

Patch #40 brought major changes to spouse relationships, removed the loyalty mechanic, and some updates to politics. Perhaps most importantly, it also added carrots as a new food.

Patch #41 implemented the highly requested Developer Mode, where players can tweak various settings, create characters, and so on. This update also added the ability for politicians to stage group conspiracies, further developed mechanics related to public policy, and added a Usurper trait for characters that seize illegitimate power.

Many Mini Typing Games - GirambQuamb

Steam Next Fest may be coming to a close, but the demo for Many Mini Typing Games is here all month! To help make the most of the time left to play, I've pushed an update that makes a few tweaks. The highlight is that different keyboard layouts should work much more smoothly now. There has not been any balance changes to the minigames, but I'm hearing your feedback and will be cooking up some changes for the full release.

Here's the full list of changes:

INPUT HANDLING

- The input handler now uses unicode to check which character has been sent. This both allows for alternate keyboard layouts and lets the player use CapsLock for uppercase letters. Please note that the game still expects you to type characters from the Latin alphabet, as well as the standard symbols on the US QWERTY layout.

- It's not easy to test every layout myself, so if any specific issues arise please make a post in the discussion forums!

MENUS

- The splash screen now has a button to toggle the game volume between full and half volume.

- Both the splash screen and main menu now have the option to toggle fullscreen with Alt + Enter or F11.

- The splash screen warning about QWERTY layouts has been rewritten to better reflect what's expected and supported.

- You can no longer type on the splash screen before the prompt is visible.

MINIGAMES

- Say Something Nice: Fixed a bug where players could continue typing after submitting.

- Get to the End: The directional inputs now take into account the current keyboard layout to always have keys in a WASD formation.

- Make Art/Dig 3 Treasures: The layout of the keys is now determined by the current keyboard layout.

MISC

- The minigame cycler now makes a best attempt effort to not load specific minigames as the first minigame in a play session.

We'd like to take advantage of the unpleasant situation of the undead taking over the universe to remind you of our upcoming releases: The alternative path of the Sphere Arc is almost complete and will be released in the coming weeks! Immediately after that - hopefully still this year - the J-12 Arc (Chapter 3) will follow.

If you not only shred pumpkins and pulverize skeleton bones, but also speak Portuguese or Russian, we have some good news for you: With this update, a completely new translation - Brazilian Portuguese - is being released, and the Russian version has been updated again!

  • Ice cube softlock outside of Mr. Smiley's shop fixed

  • Deck editing screen has a black bck to make it easier to read

  • Added scarlet's speech song to E1 orientation CS

  • You can punch Oss to fight him in E1

  • Last Oss memory added correct voices

  • Added a mirror right before the E5 elevator

  • Pesky little cursor at bottom of suspect list GONE

Greetings, bushcrafters!

This update focuses primarily on stability improvements and bug fixes. A critical issue that caused the game to freeze on a black screen while loading saved games has been identified and resolved. Several other minor bugs affecting core systems have also been addressed to improve reliability and consistency throughout gameplay.

In addition to these fixes, inventory balance has been slightly adjusted. The shoulder inventory has been expanded from 4 to 6 slots. The player’s maximum carry weight has also been increased to 35 kg.

New Features:
  • Torch and a strong wind
    - Torches no longer extinguish instantly in strong winds. They now burn for a few seconds before going out.
    - The player can shield the flame with their body to protect it from the wind.


Minor Updates & Fixes:
  • Fixed an issue where loading a saved game could result in a black screen.
  • Increased shoulder inventory capacity.
  • Fixed an issue preventing fish from spawning correctly in fish traps.
  • Increased maximum carry weight from 25 kg to 35 kg (requires a new game to take effect).
  • Fish caught in a trap no longer perish over time.
  • Fixed a save-state issue with torches not retaining their correct state.
  • General bug fixes.
