- Added a new ability to the Musclehead: they can now free their friends from the clutches of the ghosts!
- Added a button in the room browser to quickly switch server regions

Adjustments
- "Custom difficulty" is now enabled by default when you open the window. A warning appears instead if the contract you selected has a special condition you haven't unlocked
- Added an error message when getting abruptly disconnected from the game
- Added subtle visual effects when players are caught by ghosts
- Increased the speed of objects when they're getting moved to prevent them getting out of the player's view
- Increased the running speed of the orphan
- Increased the speed of the orphan's dolls
- Adjusted the shusher's senses during the exorcism to feel more fair
- Made the ghosts hear the piano from Gamara Villa from further away
- Optimized the orphan's exorcism for the host player (still a work-in-progress)
- Added a minimum delay between Steam invites

Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug where getting disconnected from a game would lead to the subsequent games being very bugged (no items spawning)
- Fixed a bug where the runner would hear non-host players from further away than the host player
- Fixed multiple text displaying issues in German
- Fixed a text that wrongly displayed "leaving the room" instead of "quitting the game" in German
- Fixed the text on the second page of children's diaries not being the correct font
- Fixed a bug where books would appear without text when multiple ghost were trying to read the same one at the same time
- Fixed a bug that caused dead players that fell under the map not to reappear back up
- Fixed a bug where handguns would fly off into space with the special condition "zero gravity"
- Fixed a bug where the teddy bear would not count as a toy for the orphan
- Fixed a bug with a poster that would spawn with a wrong rotation
- Fixed a knife spawn on Eastwood House
- Fixed a bug where the knife would sometimes not spawn on Eastwood House
- Fixed a bug where dead players would "ping" the medium when interacting with the pause menu
- Fixed a bug where the mannequin's exorcism would award twice as much XP as it should
- Fixed a bug where the cartomancer's helper card would not appear when summoned on stairs
- Fixed a bug where the "ready" icons on the bottom right of the room would display inaccurate information

I hope you’re all doing well! Since the last update I have upgraded the sky editor, expanded the object state system, and added a bunch of new assets!

Skymaker
I recently was playing with the light settings while working on one of my maps and was getting a little annoyed that I couldn’t easily change the color of the sky and some other more granular settings. So, I decided to extend the sky editor to allow you to modify the color gradients of the horizon, sky, ground, and fog.



These gradients are used to determine the color of the skybox and how it changes throughout the day. You can drag the color keys to move their position and add a color key by clicking below the gradient. Delete a color key by hitting Delete with a key selected.



To change the color of a gradient key, select a key followed by the colored button below the gradient. Then, just choose a color and the key is updated.



If you want to just use a built-in gradient, select a gradient button to load that gradient into the selected sky component.

Object State System
Previously, a character or prop could have just one “alternate state”. For example, a door could be opened or closed. For this update I developed a new system for handling object states, which includes the ability to switch between any number of states.



Now, if a character or prop has multiple states, the state button will appear. Clicking the state button will open up a menu listing each state. Only a few objects have multiple states, like doors and the newly added horse, but this more extensible system has opened the doors to more efficient possibilities for changing the style of an asset.



One good example of using a state change would be switching the armor on a character. Instead of replacing a character at a position with basically the same character but with armor, I can instead just add a new state to the character that includes armor. Easy!

New Assets
Inspired by your suggestions, I have curated and optimized new assets themed around a tribal outpost.




Here’s a list of the new assets:
  • 5 horses, each with 3 different variations: no saddle, saddled, and armored.
  • 3 orcs
  • 3 tribal towers
  • 3 tribal huts
  • Wooden paling walls
  • 4 wooden spikes
  • 3 tribal banners
  • 1 well
  • 2 standing torches
  • 6 tribal tusks
  • 7 dark gray rock piles
Polish
  • Updated to the latest Tilt Five SDK (1.2.0)
  • Updated the look of many old models, like the chair and beds.
  • Updated the loading screen screenshots.
  • Fixed several asset paths that were out of sync with the asset's name, resulting in the asset not being able to be loaded correctly at runtime.

The Chaser's Voyage - Bright at Midnight
It's finally here! With this update we've added Gamepad support to The Chaser's Voyage!

Patch Notes for Update 0.2.0:
• Controls:
  • Added Gamepad support. (Not currently compatible with Steam's Input Controller)
  • Added notifications that pause the game when gamepads become connected or disconnected.
  • Added an option to view the gamepad's control mapping when starting a new Voyage. (This can be turned off.)
  • Added Menu navigation via Gamepad and Keyboard. (The Options Menu is still temporary and thus requires a Mouse.)
  • Added Gamepad Control Rebinding.
  • Added Rumble for Gamepad.
  • Lights for PS4 and PS5 Gamepads will change to match the Chaser's Cockpit color, or the current talking character.
• Insignia:
  • The Phantom Nebula Insignia's free repairs now can be used when docking with a Neutral UGS or Neutral Imperial Fleet.
• Minefields:
  • Added mines that move vertically as well as moving horizontally.
  • These mine have a slow yellow pulsing light instead of the solid green light of normal mines.
• System Power:
  • Changed the default system power allocation to be 0 power in Weapons, 3 in Shields, 3 in Engines, and 2 in Auxiliary.
  • The Neo-Chaser Insignia's default system power allocation is now 1 in Weapons, 4 in Shields, 3 in Engines, and 2 in Auxiliary.
• UI:
  • Customize Ship UI:
    • Moved the Exit Customization Button to the Bottom Screen.
    • Added a Randomize All Button.
    • Added more obvious markers to show when a Color Slider was highlighted or selected.
  • Insignia Selection UI:
    • The scrolling section for the Insignias will now automatically go to the currently equipped insignia when switching difficulties or opening the menu.
  • System Info Screen:
    • Updated the Pause Screen's System Info Screen to now have more animations.
• Bug Fixes:
  • Insignias are now correctly oriented on the Chaser when it is reversed while docking with Fleets.
  • Added missing button sounds to the Customize Ship UI.
  • Hopefully fixed a bug causing a NullReferenceException when Jumping out of a Bounty Hunter Encounter.
  • Client 2's Icon Background will no longer incorrectly be red after loading a Client Planet Save when the client was an enemy to only Pirates.
  • The player can no longer retry a Client Planet Encounter in the Flight Simulator if they died above a Client Planet after restarting a Voyage.
  • Fixed a sizing issue with the Dimming Effect of the Quit and Restart Confirmation Notices on the Game Over and Victory screens.
  • Princess Merrywhethers will no longer appear when loading a Client Planet that had less than 3 clients.
  • The player will no longer be unable to dock if they have no money, but repairs would be free.
  • A small amount of the player's money will no longer be stolen when they pause while docking with a Space Port or a Fleet above a planet.
  • The pop up that asks the player whether they want to dock with the Fleet or Planet will no longer appear when the player has no money, but is carrying a Fleet's ally while above a Space Port.
  • Repairs will no longer start immediately if the player docks with a Fleet or Space Port after dedocking with a Space Port or Fleet (respectively) in the same encounter without stopping the repairs first.
  • The crew's subtitles will no longer appear in the wrong spot when leaving a client planet after staying for extra repairs.
  • Scrollbars will no longer rapidly move back and forth when the player clicks and holds too far to the left or right of them.
  • The Restore Default Values notifications in the options menu will no longer still be open after exiting the menu by unpausing the game.
  • The player can now properly pause the game in the Flight Simulator after they respawn in Voyager Mode.
  • The crew's death lines will now play even after the player respawns in Voyager Mode.
  • Hull and Oxygen Percentages will no longer say 0% if they are not completely empty.
  • Mines that are triggered right before leaving the screen will no longer sometimes not explode.
  • Edwin is no longer flipped in the credits.
  • Large Asteroids and Debris will no longer stick to the player and not collide correctly after a Fighter runs into them.
  • The Chaser's lights will now properly turn off when the player runs out of Oxygen.
• Typos:
  • Fixed the subtitle's spelling for Wolfe's Non-Event Voice Line #50: "You really want them messing with the ship systems while traveling through a sub-space wormhole?".
  • Fixed the incorrect spelling of Paju on one of the Loading Screen Infos.
  • Fixed the typo in the client name: Merryweather.

Star Valor - Laious
For those who missed it, Star Valor is getting Out of Early Access tomorrow, on August 3rd! So I wanted to clarify a few things before that. if you didn't watch my devlog #7 announcement, check it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djodwMBy5as)

So let's get to it:

  • Star Valor development will continue normally after launch. I want to develop the game much further, like adding station management, more story quests, Mega Structures, etc. So, with your continued support, the game will keep getting better and better, but it can no longer be called Early Access, as it is already much more than that. The game is completed, but it's not finished.

  • As expected when coming out of Early Access, and has been mentioned many times before, there will be a needed restructuring on the save file system, meaning old saves will no longer be compatible with the new version. On the other hand, all your perks, unlocked ships and special crew, will remain available after launch.

  • Yes, there will be a price increase for launch.

  • No, I couldn't finish everything I wanted before launch (the new end-game missions mainly), because of a few reasons, including getting sick twice in the last month. But it's ok, I'll just keep working on it right after launch.

So, I figured it would be good to state that again, as a heads up for when the time comes. I'm pretty excited for launch, and of course very anxious about it, but at the same time I'm having an amazing support from the community, which honestly helps a lot! So thank you all for that, and I hope you all continue to have fun with my work!
