Welcome to this July 2022 dev diary for Task Force Admiral.


As always, the last few weeks have been filled with honest progress. A specific care was given to the optimization of the game environment, in regard of the tech of course, but the GUI in its larger meaning too. Let’s go over the contents of the last months, including some new cool stuff released just yesterday.

The part of the GUI relevant to player user experience has been discussed already at length in the previous video – although we do have a new version now, with a spoken narration. We also added some extra trivia regarding our vision of how history can be made to speak to you through the diegetic interface we have been designing. It might be worth a look if you haven’t seen the original video – and even then, we have thrown in a few more gameplay sequences at the end that might sweeten the deal!



Talking about behind the scenes contents, we just had an interview with the right honorable Wolfpack345 some of you no doubt know well for his adventures over the Russian front, the Solomons or the bottom of the Norwegian sea. He was kind enough to extend an invitation to us for this new feature, and we went for it. Obviously our game designer is no professional interviewee, but it was a first for Wolfpack, so we were in good company! We did throw in there a lot of original contents, especially some nice sequences of Rizki, our 3D artist, and Julien, our 2D illustrator hard at work. The complete videos will be released later in early August – it will be a treat for whoever among you is into naval architecture using Blender, or digital painting.



Finally, in regard of non-player GUI, we also made a lot of progress on the integration tools we will be using ourselves when calibrating ships and aircraft in the game. These tools, readily available in the general interface of the engine, will be available to some extent to those among you who might want to tweak around the ships – or add your own creations. Task Force Admiral in its current form will be a single player game, so there is little incentive to prevent you from playing around the properties and try your own stuff. We are of the opinion that good games inspire people to mod them – while great games actually give them the tools to do so. We’ll do what we can to steer in the direction of the latter.



In the meantime, these tools are practical for those in our team who can now give a hand to our developer without prior experience with coding & all the sweet programmer stuff. It will certainly improve the workflow – all these 90 ships and 40 aircraft ain’t going to get right into the game all by themselves, are they! Talking about the former, let's finish this update with a few screenshots of the latest additions to the Japanese roster. Not all ships are at the same level of finish just yet, and the textures are the main mapping (that is the clothes that come with the 3D model) not the final deal just yet. But we know we have a few Nihon Kaigun enthusiasts in here who will not say no to some more additional relevant eye candy... So there you go, enjoy it all thoroughly!

Now it’s time to say some words to you, guys!

It was a rough time since the release, but now, it’s time to show you our gratitude! We want to thank you for all your support. Without you, Builder Simulator wouldn’t be at the current stage. It’s really important to us that you care, and engage. That’s why, we’ve gathered all of your feedback, and comments, and put them into motion. Day, after day, we’ve tried our best, to showcase you something new, and the fruit of our hard work is this Pooltastic Update! Feel the freshness of the news along with a specially created trailer! Let’s jump into the pool!

Within this update, you will find a fresh-new Progress Bar. Now you’ll know exactly where you are, and how much work is left to be done. The next one is the ability to replace doors and windows. You’ll also be able to select sills and have the possibility of replacing them at any time. We saw your questions, so now we can answer – the pools are waiting for you to place them, as you wish! If this isn’t enough, There's a brand-new Swamp level awaiting to see your dream houses rising up. Let the showcase begin!

Progress bar

There is no more satisfying thing than seeing the progress of your work! While building our cozy place, we always think of the final results. The process is just a way to reach the goal. Check this new feature, and let us know in the comments section, what you think of it.

Windows and sills

Windows are the eyes to the world of any home, so you should make sure that they're the best possible showcase of your home. From now on, you’ll have this opportunity, thanks to our selection system. Create your dream home with a beautiful exterior eye.


What would windows be without the sills! That's why we won't leave them completely bare! We've added an option to change them as well. So feel free to adjust them to your style, as you can see below. Also, we're constantly waiting for your feedback, so let us know in the comment section below what you think about such a mechanic?

Pools

You don't have to think about going to the pool anymore, because the pool has just come to you! Your own villa with a wet spot and even a pink flamingo is something that is a dream of many people, and you get it now and here, in an update named after this feature! Prepare your swimsuit and jump into the whirlpool of ideas!



New Location

Wanna feel like playing Days Gone? This location gives us the same vibe! Encircle yourself in the autumn atmosphere, right now. With a new wetland and swamps-inspired biome coming in this update, you'll be thrown into the swampy climate of Louisiana. Decorate your home and create something that perfectly fits this boggy place! Don’t wait and grab your tools, because it’s hard terrain to perform.





New pieces of furniture

However, it's still summer, so let's not jump into such humid places yet. Let's feel that sunny delight by choosing brand-new furnishings for your homes. Inspired by a pool setting, these items will enhance your cozy spots!

Now Agents, there’s some rules to this event! Read your mission objectives carefully:
  • The map must be created for this contest, not previously uploaded on the workshop or elsewhere.
  • You can use previously created assets but not entire maps. This means not taking an old map and adding the Black Mesa flair!
  • The map must be created by you, of course. Any stolen layouts or entire maps won’t be considered.
  • The theme must be around Black Mesa and be the key element in the aesthetics and/or playstyle of the map.
  • You can submit the map as a collaboration between multiple people, but be aware that the prizes will not be duplicated if you win! You'll have to figure out how to split them evenly between team members.
  • All submissions must be submitted to the workshop by September 28th at 11:59 PM PDT and link posted in the #map-submissions channel.
Maps Will Be Judged By The Black Mesa & Intruder Teams Based On The Following Criteria:
  • How fun it is to play.
  • How well the map is designed.
  • Originality and creativity.
  • How creatively the Black Mesa theme is involved.
  • Upvotes on the Steam Workshop (Influences but does not decide).

Hello Martyrs!

Summer is in full swing, and the mood is good, so we've decided to spice things up with a free update featuring brand new content for Succubus!



The Shamanic Update will enrich several of our levels with a new, MENACING opponent - the Satyr - a mighty demon who summons nasty creatures to fight unwanted intruders such as Vydija :D
But that's not all!

The Shamanic Update additionally includes:
- a brand new whip variation;
- a new Looped Dream scene;
- Bugfixing; (patch notes below)

Check out for yourself on which levels you will come across our fresh adversary. The update is available to everyone for free right now!



Patch notes:

General Changes:

- Powers available in the Latex of Love armor again display correctly
- Numerous adjustments have been made to beach bodypaint textures
- Super Succubus armor will no longer mess up bodypaints
- We have decided to slightly nerf the Abomination on lower difficulty levels so that new players do not find the ugly monster too much of a challenge

Vydija's Cave:

- The scarlet mist present on some variations of the decorations will no longer materialize in front of your eyes
- Changes regarding the appearance of Vydija's body will no longer raise the volume of the game
- The Martyr from our summer set will no longer interfere with the shrine present in the Orgy decorations
- We have adjusted the censorship of some elements in Vydija's Cave
- IT HAPPENED! From today you will never again trip over the Spider present in the area, as we have disabled the annoying collision for every single one of them. Hurray!
- A bug regarding Agretha's interaction with many of the decor elements has been fixed - her face should no longer melt like ice cream left in the sun
- We have a lot of fans of our 'Looped Dreams' here, so we've fixed some transitions between animations specifically for them so they don't ruin the atmosphere ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
- We have removed the annoying blockage present in the corridor after selecting the summer decorations
- The Martyr in the stairwell was asked to change his seat and rest his body's weight on something more material
- If you've seen blood flowing through the air in Kethar's chamber before, then you won't see it again; no thanks needed

Mountain of Pleasure:

- We had a slight problem with twitching martyrs, which skeletons have made into shooting targets. Currently, they should behave normally after being hit 'mistakenly' with a fireball
- We fixed the collision of rocks in the arena at the end of the level
- Those curious about the design of our levels will be pleased to know that the collision trap present at our famous 'turkey' will no longer block you
- The mountain got some affection from us, and from now on, several unnecessary walls blocking the way for players have been removed
- The teeth adorning the wall of one of our tunnels will no longer change shape when you approach them

Arena of Sacred Blood:

- We have improved the placement of the palm trees in the summer decor of the level; we do not want our plants to levitate joyfully in the air

The Great Kali:

- Turning off the 'Abortion Minigames' will no longer cause unwanted character collisions dedicated to the two-level variants

Forgotten Lair:

- We gently pointed out the way to a lost Martyr because of whom some players could not complete the arena challenge
- If once again, you wish to lock yourself in one of the holes in the arena with the statues, I must sadden you, but we have effectively blocked access to some of them

Forest of Flesh:

- One of the stone ribs present on the path to the chapel with the hammer will begin to resist you if you once again wish to unite with it as one being (。+・`ω・´)

Kethar Workshop:

- No more tripping over the body lying on the stairs blocking the way in the Forge

Vortex Temple:
- The lost black object visible from the check-point terrace will no longer spoil the landscape for you
- There was a small tentacle hiding in the wall on that level; we felt sorry for it and took it to its new home. Hopefully, it will be happier there :3
- We have also improved the performance on the level near the bone church; we hope this will make it easier for you to fight the Amazons

Brighlight of the Forest:

- The tentacle hanging in the air on the opening cutscene will no longer bother you with its whizzing;
- We have corrected the collision of the fleshy arch so that it is no longer possible to look inside it again
- The upper area of the arena has been separated from the players so that they don't accidentally get off the map
- We corrected the collision of several stones present on the path to the temple
- If you were previously unable to complete the level because of the Czort blocking himself in one of the chambers of the temple, he too has already been dealt with :D





So yeah... there is still a lot of work ahead. We're aware of many things that could use some fine-tuning, but we're on track to get everything done. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy the new free content.

We are counting on the wicked Satyr getting a juicy BONK on the head from you, even more than once (◐ω◑ ).
