Hello everyone!

We are listening to your feedback and are committed to improving Warsaw both in short and long term. We aim to provide you a content roadmap in the very near future.

A patch will be deployed shortly, which addresses a number of issues you have asked about since launch.

DELETING SAVE FILES

Deleting saves from the game now works correctly.

DIFFICULTY ADJUSTMENT

While we want the game to remain difficult it seems clear from the feedback that it was over-tuned. We have reduced the overall difficulty across the board.

- Health of Enemies reduced by 10%. This will also speed up the combat
- Reduced the maximum number of Enemies in battles from 7 to 6
- Ammunition cost of all Skills reduced by 20%
- Decreased the rate of AP consumption when moving around the city by 25%.
- Reduced the rate of Momentum decay by 10%
- Increased the starting amount of Short Ammunition by 10%
- Increased the starting amount of Long Ammunition by 25%
- Increased the starting amount of Heavy Ammunition by 50%
- Slightly increased ammunition gain from looting

RNG ADJUSTMENT

Right now the game increases your hit odds by 10% when you miss. We have increased this to 30%. This should reduce the amount of frustrating missing streaks in combat.

BUG FIXES

- Fixed a rare bug where battles failed to load
- Fixed tooltips in the battle screen being clipped by the screen edge
- Fixed a bug that allowed to infinity sell weapons equipped by a character
- Fixed vanishing ammunition when the game was closed during the loading screen
- Fixed Mortar visuals when hit
- Added a new cursor
- Achievement fixes
- Audio fixes
- Visual fixes
WARSAW RISING: City of Heroes - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Sin Vega)

The Warsaw Uprising isn’t the easiest of settings for a game. The obvious thing is to wargame it – make it a detached military sim that doesn’t risk being too heavy or stressful. Warsaw is going for something a bit more close range, though.

It’s a turn-based tactical shooter that’s as much RPG as strategy game, about managing morale and resources as well as getting the job done and keeping your people alive. A tall order, and Warsaw does it with panache. It’s out now.

WARSAW RISING: City of Heroes

Warsaw is a turn-based tactical RPG set in occupied Warsaw, Poland in 1944 that has players leading a small group of "accidental heroes"—men and women, soldiers and civilians, young and old—against the might of the German army. We said in February that it looks a Second World War take on Darkest Dungeon and it definitely does, as you can see in the new trailer, in both its visual style and the shared theme of desperate struggle against overwhelming odds.

There's an element of This War of Mine to it, too, as players will have to collect and manage resources including food, weapons, and ammunition, and recruit new fighters to replace those lost in combat. Permadeath means killed characters are gone for good, and losses will have an impact on morale, but there's no avoiding it: Some battles are best avoided, but the war is unavoidable.

It's bleak stuff, but so is the historical event on which it's based: Thousands died in the 1944 Warsaw Uprising, which was ultimately crushed by the German forces, and many more were killed when the population was expelled in its aftermath. Most of the city was razed to the ground.

"With Warsaw, we wanted to create a game that is both culturally significant and great to play, and we hope that we’ve delivered that," producer Krzysztof Paplinski said. "We took great care with our story and mechanics to provide the best possible experience for players and to ensure we do our history justice."

Warsaw was supposed to be out in September but at some point it was pushed into October—today, to be precise. It's available now on Steam for $24/£19/€20.

To close the circle of trailers starting with WARSAW's announcement back in February and ending with the launch trailer seven months later we'd like you to check out WARSAW's newest video. Full two days before the game is available on Steam this coming Wednesday.

We will be adding the trailer to the official Steam page tomorrow, but for now you can check it out exclusively @ GameSpot.

https://www.gamespot.com/videos/warsaw-exclusive-gameplay-launch-trailer/2300-6451144/

The work on the trailer with the very talented and very patient Radikal Studio lasted a little over two months and resulted in a mere 41-email chain that lead to less than 10 versions of the video.

You could say this was a breeze.

Enjoy!

WARSAW RISING: City of Heroes - kmpaplinski

Literally hundreds of emails labeled WARSAW REVIEW CODES went out yesterday to the gaming media, streamers and youtubers around the world. So that on Wednesday of October 2nd, from 1pm GMT / 6am PDT you could check out the reviews, streams and videos to see what the industry’s professionals make of it.

What we made of it is over two years and tens of thousands working hours put into development, localization, QA, and communication. It felt fantastic to share the game’s screenshots, trailers and details and see how they resonate with you. And your support, enthusiasm and inputs in all the comments and forums sections every time a new story on WARSAW surfaced were extremely humbling and rewarding.

Next week from the day of the launch onwards we set out on a new journey with two clear goals. To listen to you and incorporate your input into the game and work on the content that will allow you to enjoy the game way, way post launch on PC. With other platforms to follow.

WARSAW’s steam keys will be active from 3pm GMT / 8am PDT on October 2nd. The game will be available for 23.99 USD or equivalent in local currency. With one exception: the game`s home country. Thanks to retail and publishing partners in Poland, the price for the version in the local distribution, supporting only Polish language will be approx. 50% lower. We wanted to make sure it will allow more people in Poland to experience the events that had profound impact on their capital city, and their country. To paraphrase IGN’s Joe Skrebel’s quote from his WARSAW story: This feels right to us.
WARSAW RISING: City of Heroes - kmpaplinski
Hey everyone,

We’re postponing the WARSAW launch to October 2nd.

For the last two months we took part in WARSAW's preview tour around Europe culminating in last week’s Gamescom. The goal? Showing the game to the media. The reception? So far it would seem that we have something special in our hands.

At the same time we had a growing concern that we might not be able to provide you with the game as polished as we would have wanted it to be.

Therefore – after two weeks of weighing in all the pros and cons a final decision was reached yesterday: to delay the launch of WARSAW to 2nd of October.

Please do note that we didn’t wish to postpone the game indefinitely and only commit to the date once closer to it. So let’s call the 2nd of October a first and last delay for WARSAW at the same time.

Next week we will be dropping a new trailer. Until this week it was actually “an announcement trailer”, but the decision to postpone the launch will actually turn it into a “before the announcement trailer”. But we will not stop there. We will make sure to provide a steady stream of behind the scenes info on the road to launch here on the Steam page.

For now – apologies for making you wait that one month longer to play the game. But we are confident this is a decision that will be beneficial for everyone who will want to explore WARSAW.

(this is a still from the PAX East'19 WARSAW coverage reel we were showing at our booth)

The 7-part coverage of WARSAW’s Announcement comes to closing today. And what better way to round it up than with a handful of excerpts taken from various publications that covered the game’s announcement. Reading the past six parts you should have a pretty good idea of what we were going for. Now you can see how it worked out.

Tomorrow (or – depending on your time zone – still today) we will be starting a new 7-part piece. This one will focus on… Just check back here and see for yourself.

The order of the below excerpts is as they show in the google search. Some edits to the helpful google translate were in order to make things a bit more clear. And these are just a selected few of the stories than sprang after the GameSpot announcement.

WARSAW RISING: City of Heroes - kmpaplinski

When a major gaming website announces your game and for 24 hours it’s the only carrier of that information different things might happen.

For example quite a few of other media outlets from all over the world can republish that story. And if it’s helped by a proper media blast delivered by a specialized PR agency as well as your own channels it might turn out that when you type do a google search of your game you find there’s almost 300 mentions across more than 20 countries in the first 72 hours alone. Countries from Australia to Vietnam (sadly, nothing in Yemen and Zanzibar, and unless you tried Catalan – Xina also doesn’t count). All covering WARSAW.

I believe a certain admission is owed here. When we set out to make a game based around Warsaw Rising we knew that we can’t push that out to the front of the messaging. As mentioned before – Warsaw Rising isn’t a story many people are familiar with. And we never felt this should be something we constantly bring up.

The way we communicated WARSAW outside of Poland from the start was: “a tactical rpg set in WWII”.

We felt if the game has arresting visuals, compelling gameplay, engaging mechanics and an interesting tactical layer combined with historical setting – we will have gamers interest. And then – and only then do we uncover the facts. That the length of the Rising is actually the imposed time limit on the player. That all the characters are based on people or groups of people who actually took part in the Rising. That all the weapons you wield in game were used in the Rising. That uniforms and equipment were all consulted with a historian dealing with Warsaw Rising. That a dialogist made sure that the lines spoken during the battle by the combatants would be true to the era. That you move on a map based on the maps from Warsaw ’44. That the names of the streets are factual.

And we hoped that when WARSAW was being covered by whatever medium decided to run the story – once the genre, the visuals and all surface level qualities are mentioned – there will just be no way around mentioning what Warsaw Rising actually was.

Near total destruction of the city. Hundreds of thousands people killed. Even more relocated from the capital. Which until that point might not have featured in

Months later there’s more than 400 publications on WARSAW across major gaming media all around the world, and all of these mention Warsaw Rising. Sometimes in media that never touched upon that subject. All of these refer to the game first – as was intended. WARSAW is not a performance project but a game and needs to be one if it is to succeed commercially.

But at the same we’re extremely proud with what we achieved. In bringing a piece of Polish history to the forefront for hundreds of gaming media outlets.
