"Haunting, eerie, and genuinely mind-bending" - Blair Witch has been chosen the no. 2 horror of the year (second only to the unmatched Resident Evil 2, so we feel no shame in it) and one of the scariest games of the decade by Rely on Horror!
Haunting, eerie, and genuinely mind-bending on a scale one rarely sees in the “walking sim” horror genre, Bloober Team’s Blair Witch offers a dive into the darkness of Burkittsville’s Black Hills forest that will leave you paranoid and trembling.
This week we're going to be sharing more of our next map, Purple Heart Lane, with you all.
Purple Heart Lane will be arriving in Update 5 and launch with both Warfare and Offensive (USA) Modes!
The Battleground
Prepare to deploy to Highway N13, near to Carentan, France. This location earned its name from a brutal clash between US and German forces in June 1944.
One confrontation in particular, now known as "Cole's Charge" earned Highway N13 its nickname, Purple Heart Lane...
Under a barrage of intense German artillery, Lt. Col. Robert G. Cole and his unit of 400 men charged the German position head-on. The Americans overran the Germans, but it came at a high price - the lives of 118 of Cole's men.
In Purple Heart Lane you will fight for control of the causeway and each of its four bridges. Get ready for a water-logged map with uneven terrain, new combat environments and an intense mix of short and longer range combat.
Map Recon
The bridges will be key strategic locations, particularly for map control.
Armoured crews will need to work closely with infantry to ensure safe passage through choke points.
Uneven terrain and abandoned fortifications will provide useful cover locations.
Smart use of cover can lead to sneaky manoeuvres, even in enemy held territory.
Flooded plains and bridge choke points - a new challenge awaits you.
Seems like a strong location for a Garrison, wouldn't you agree?
Be aware, there's more to this map than bridges and a causeway...
A defensible location, or shooting fish in a barrel? You decide.
Will the rivers and streams be a welcome ally, or a foe to your plans?
Those Pillboxes could be very useful in the right hands!
That wraps up our look at Purple Heart Lane, coming in Update 5!
All going well, next week we'll be looking to reveal our updated 'Markers' system and how it'll bring a new strategic option to Units in Hell Let Loose.
What do you think of our next map? Let us know in the comments!

Early on in your campaign, you will rescue Izkor, a very interesting elderly local that decides to help the squad. What does he bring to the table? Well, he has special contacts that give him access to some more exotic weaponry! Perhaps that’s why he was in a prison when you first met him?
These weapons are far stronger than the basic rifles, shotguns, and SMGs that your squad has been equipped with, so it is wise to check what he has in store.
Izkor also has some supplies to help feed the squad so you may have to make a decision. Will you buy the better weapons, or will you buy the supplies to feed the squad?
The Shotgun
The shotgun is a powerful, close-ranged weapon best used to clear out enemies that have limited room to manoeuvre such as if you need to clear out an occupied building!

As we’re reaching the end of the development process for Broken Lines (we’re mainly sorting out bugs now) we’ve begun to put together a few developer diary videos where we talk about the various mechanics of the game.
Other than giving you a good look at what the game plays like, these videos will help you understand how the game works, and give you the edge that you need if you want to challenge the game’s harder modes!

Today, we are releasing one of DemonCrawl's biggest patches since launch! The theme of this update is balance changes, which happened to rank quite high in our feature poll. (Speaking of which, we will be creating a separate post for the poll results later today - so stay tuned for that!)
In the meantime, let's go over some of the highlights in today's patch. Full patch notes are available below as well.
We have extended the Token Shop with a few new legendary items. These items are meant to help out certain builds that lacked powerful, synergistic enablers (specifically Electric, Canker, and Bone builds.)
We have also re-classified Thicker Skin as a passive item. We like Thicker Skin's effect, but it simply doesn't match up against the other legendary items in the pool.
7 items have been completely reworked, in additional to several smaller changes to other items. Over 30 items have had their prices adjusted.
We are continuing to support our favorite DemonCrawl content producers with exclusive in-game cosmetics! If you would like to unlock these new avatars, check out the following channels on Twitch - each streamer may have his or her own method of distributing their avatar:

Hotfix #1 @ 9:40 PM - Fixed a softlock in the final stage when stage shaders are disabled.
For a few days there has been a bug affecting new players, preventing the creation of the Sandbox folder. Apologies to anyone this has affected, it's frustrating to lose data. It is now fixed, thanks for letting me know and for your patience.
If you see a temp_dat.dat file and move it from your Documents/Overcrowd folder into the newly created Overcrowd/Sandbox (the folder is made when you first successfully save a sandbox game) you may also be able to retrieve the most recently lost sandbox save.
