What is going to happenSometimes Lewie Procter is very useful. Not only does he do the delightful Bargain Bucket, but he is also, and this is a huge secret, quite good at videogames>. That is quite terrifying to anyone else who happens to write about videogames, because we actually try not to be good at videogames so that we will have time to write about videogames. But Lewie can do both and do the Bargain Bucket! He is some sort of superhuman. Anyway, this week he has been playing Need For Madness, and doing mean flips and whatnot in the air and sending us videos. Perhaps you’d like to try this car game out? It is now on Greenlight and looks very lovely. (more…)

awwww can we keep him

RPS Headline Generatron 5000, are you taking side jobs again? We agreed to let bygones be bygones after those puntastic Leviathan: Warships ads, but come on: Guacamelee? You’re under contract, and you didn’t think we’d notice your obvious handiwork there? This is a heinous betrayal of our trust, and to make matters worse, I can’t even come up with a pun to top it in our headline for the announcement of Guacamelee’s PC version. Heh, top it. As one might some form of snack food with guacamole. ARGH THAT WAS TERRIBLE SEE WHAT YOU’VE MADE ME DO.

Saints Row: The Third - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (John Walker)

We haven’t mentioned before now, but the current Humble Weekly Sale is a clutch of Cliffski’s Positech games, which have already netted over $100k, with a day and a half to go. Beers are on Cliffski! (Just don’t mention piracy.) And now a new fortnight-long Humble Bundle proper has launched, this time showcasing the products of the decidedly not indie Deep Silver. Four of their games (including Saints Row 3!) for pay what you want, two more for over the average, and the rather average Dead Island Riptide if you throw in $25.

Those lovely scamps over at Arenanet are planning a Jubilee on the 6th of August to celebrate Queen Jennah’s ten year rule. It seems like a super nice idea, they are putting on a hot air balloon collection service to the Crown Pavilion so you can go to the gladiatorial events and jump around or whatever it is that people do when they are watching something in Guild Wars 2.

Is Queen Jennah a good queen? Does she deserve a Jubilee? Will Jubilee from the X-Men show up? She had better. (more…)

Wasteland 2 isn’t coming out when we thought it was coming out. That’s probably the greatest tragedy of modern times, maybe of recorded human history. But the reasoning behind it is actually far more interesting than inXile’s original blog post let on. Yes, yes, polishing up the rusted over cessparadise is a big part of the developer’s reasoning, but even once it’s feature complete, creative effort will continue right up to the last second on one key portion of the game: choice and reactivity. Think less Mass Effect, more Witcher 2 with a hint of Deus Ex. And maybe even more than that.>

shaking shackOne thing I learned whilst living in Japan was that there is no love without love hotels. Japanese houses are small, thin as plywood, and property prices are so huge that you often won’t leave home until you’re married with a well-paying job. So… In a society where it’s not even socially acceptable to kiss in public, where can you do all your clam dippin’, begattin’ and sock adjustin’? You certainly don’t want to do it in your parents’ house with them right next to the sliding doors. Well, the answer is… you gotta make a trip to a love hotel. 3 Silly Hats have made kink-friendly SimTower-esque simulation game Love Hotel, where you’re a love hotel manager and you have to provide a place for every kind of couple to rut like gymnastic fuckbunnies. And it’s actually flippin’ amazing. I played it all day. Solo. (more…)

Skulls of the Shogun - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Adam Smith)

Working in the fast-moving field of electronic gaming journalism can be dangerous. If I’m not watching the latest trailer for Gunface Organ-Splatter: Uncensored Edition, I’m likely to be quivering in a corner because the latest trailer for Gunface Organ-Splatter: Uncensored Edition contained one too many close-ups of quivering viscera. Such things are not ideal viewing through the hazy veil of an insomniac’s hangover. Today, I thought I was safe. Skulls of the Shogun’s launch(ed on an OS people want to use) trailer surely wouldn’t trouble my nerves? Click below for children eating skulls and losing all> of their flesh.

This image has achieved maximum rockets.

Sound the siren because we’ve found yet another> adorable indie strategy game, but this one’s pushing the boundaries of what our cute glands can handle.  Cannon Brawl boasts airships, hilariously proportioned turrets and a father-daughter royalty tag team just on the surface, with a highly original 2D strategy concept and great music to boot.  We’ve got a launch trailer and lightning fast first thoughts after the break.

I'm no expert, but that guy in the distance looks in trouble.

Unity might be the most marvelous thing for web games since the retiring of Internet Explorer 6 – just look at how pretty that gunfire is!  Wings of Saint Nazaire, along with continuing the tradition of difficult to pronounce indie games, is a space pew-pew simulator currently in playable alpha.  The x-factor is the ability to be played in-browser via the mentioned and currently red-hot-popular development platform.
