Hi everyone, it's been already two weeks since we published the last patch, so we're here to give you some insight on what we've been doing and the next steps for Pixel Piracy:
Mikko is progressing fast on the next big thing Pixel Piracy: new standard XML savegame format. Yesterday the testers started playing the first builds with this system. For the ones who don't know exactly what we're talking about, this improvement will allow us to fix some of the most relevant bugs in the game, mainly the crew members tasks management system and consequently pirates AI. This will also allow us to introduce tailored content in the game, like custom islands with particular enemies and items, missions, treasures, some specific configurations and behaviours to your ship, even that popular community suggestion about being able to build a fortress will then be feasible (and we have plans to implement it!). We can safely say in a few weeks we should be done with the savegame format (testing included :).
You may also be wondering, what about the other annoying bugs in the game? As you can imagine, changing the way the game stores, loads and even generates content is a major change in the game and implies tons of testing and effort, that's why Mikko couldn't dedicate much time to other issues lately.
Anyway, we managed to get a new build out to test this weekend! Mostly, it will fix bugs related to character flipping due to excessive speed and many of the ridiculous fights amongs your pirates that usually trigger when you have overpopulated crews cleaning (and doing poop teleporting magic), to fix this, we temporarily disabled poop damage.
If everything goes as expected testing wise, this patch will be out on Monday for all of you to enjoy.
Thanks for your support and patience. Mikko and Jesús.

Yes, you read right! Pixel Piracy has reached a QUARTER MILLION users!
Thanks to this huge milestone we have decided to drop the price down to 9.99 PERMANENTLY, and have been placed as Steam's Daily Deal for the next 24 hours, that means an extra 50% off!
Get Pixel Piracy at 4.99 for the next 24 hours! It's the cheapest it's ever been and if that's not reason enough to get it, ask one of our hundreds of thousands of happy players why you should!
Thank you all for the support, we wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you!

Hi folks, it's been like 10 days since the last patch and we're back again with a good number of fixes that we're sure will improve the Pixel Piracy experience. We could have had this update earlier but Mikko has been sick with a weird virus for like 3 days and now is still recovering. So he came back today and we tried to add a few fixes and test before shipping this new patch.
Bug Fixes
Captured animals onboard enemy ships could not be mounted
Some pets would not retain their HP bonus when leveling up
It was possible to wait out the cannon combat timer before beginning a ship encounter
Pirates could not walk across a ladder with no solid block underneath
Fixed the formatting of played time counters
Fixed a bug with pathfinding grid getting an incorrect height in some ship configurations
Improvements
Engaging ships is now a single-click action instead of two clicks
Thor's Undies now gives immunity to cannon-related explosions
Added ladders to some ship templates to allow roof access and prevent getting stuck
Added new hunger and TP notification icons to crew overview
Re-added the old island music to the playlist
Shared exp amount display now shows rounded numbers
Ship builder now has a button for quickly removing all ship blocks
Can now use mouse wheel and up/down arrows to scroll between pets
Next steps now are fixing dramatic morale draining in later stages of the game (this one is being tracked, and probably we'll have it very soon) Also, after this we plan to add the ending and achievements to the game in very short term and after that revamp the savegame format and fix the AI and add the custom task priority system to each pirate.

This week's build contains a few small fixes and tweaks as we're preparing some background tech necessary for fixing many bugs with pirate AI (those will fix issues with tasks management, morale, etc).
