We're preparing our demo for unannounced fest, so it's time to test that out! For this demo we've just got the first area, slowly getting rid of some of the placeholder stuff: going towards a more polished up version of the game. Please let us know what you think in Discord!
Today we're excited to share that the next monthly Civilization VI challenge, Ides of March, is now live for the Steam version of the game on PC. This challenge can be attempted at either Prince or Emperor difficulty.
For a limited time, challenges like this one afford you an opportunity to test your skills as a specific leader in a unique scenario. The first time you successfully complete each challenge, you'll earn yourself a new in-game Hall of Fame Badge.
To play the current challenge between March 12 and April 9, go to the main menu in-game and click on "Ides of March - Challenge of the Month." Note that if you don't own any of the DLC featured in the challenge, you will be granted free trial access to it for use in the challenge so you don't miss out.
We'll update this page with details on upcoming challenges as they become available.
CURRENT EVENT
CHALLENGE 5: IDES OF MARCH
The Fall of Rome is imminent! As Caesar, do you have what it takes to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat? You've already conquered much of the world, but every civilization that remains now unites against you, and your armies are stretched too thin to defend your empire on every front.
There are difficult choices to be made between now and April 9 when this event ends. Other civilizations' attacks demand your attention, but you also can't afford to ignore the threats posed by barbarians, famine, and natural disasters.

✍️ Well, well, well, did everybody prepare a double sheet of paper? ✍️
Today we have a new lesson - we're going to look at one of our old-school mechanics in our game. The potioncraft lesson is something our players have been familiar with for a long time. By the way, let's check your homework: did you add WANDERER: Broken Bed to your wishlist?
- Match-3 (or three-in-a-row) mechanic in which all you had to do was connect three identical elements. - The player received a mark for the activity after successfully collecting the right elements on time.
We will now explain why we decided to change it originally: 1) We were not happy using this mechanic because our wanderers were not getting proper potions training; 2) We also pay attention to feedback left on our social media and Discord; 3) Previously a student would only receive a grade for the lesson, but now they will see the results of their work immediately in their inventory; 4) It connects the lesson with the rest of the mechanics inside the game - potions can be used in battle, in trade, and maybe even when talking to girls 😏
What it looks like now:
- We have completely rejected the previous iteration. By rewriting the code, we also make to make this lesson more interesting. - There are different elements and recipes. You combine the ingredients below according to them and the potion is ready to go! - The player can make and get different potions (in the future). What you create with the basic instructions moves to your inventory 🤩
The recently released WIP Build partially implements this feature. We are just introducing it and will improve it further later 🔥
Well, that's it for today! We hope you had time to write down all the material of the lecture. See you soon, keep learning this material and take it right back to your wanderings 💞
Bug Fix: Fixed frame rate drop issues when using certain languages in the operating system.
Bug Fix: Fixed the problem of enemies incorrectly refreshing in water.
Bug Fix: Fixed the issue of still showing the player's flag on the island after dismantling an occupied flag.
Adjusted the player's position when getting off the ship to optimize the ship's experience.
Optimized enemy behavior tree logic, improving in-game frame rates, such as improving the game performance of Dreadville by 10-20 frames.
Feature Updates:
Right-clicking on clothes can directly change equipment.
Added blinking effect to the task button when it is red.
Added a button to the chest: to put in items of the same type and rearrange the UI buttons of the chest so that the position of the "organize" button matches the player's backpack UI.
Fixed some issues with items not disappearing after being picked up in Dreadville.
Here is a new update, first of all on the improvement: 1) For weapons: - improved recoil of sniper rifle and automatic shotgun - Sniper rifle zoom becomes more transparent (more black displayed around viewfinder screen) - Character always comes back to life with last weapon in hand
2) The spots - Added additional weapon spots on all cards (3 instead of 2) *Except maps Labyrinth 3) Display improvement: - Sniper rifle zoom stats display - Moving the character’s camera to death
4) Bug resolution: - collision with dead AI is no longer possible, it happened when one wanted to pick up an object that had fallen to the ground or when a wall fell on it. - It was possible to zoom in and jump, but not vice versa. -Movement of larger enemies (tanks) on defense math was broken 5) Optimization: - creation of an actor, which acts as a library allowing AI to take references, without making too heavy calculations.
