Greetings Adventurers!

This week’s update brings in another swathe of bug fixes, alongside laying additional groundwork for the upcoming server transfer feature. Many members of our team are still working tirelessly on ensuring everyone can find a world to call their long-term home with the character transfer feature. We’ll have more information on server transfers when they’re ready, and you can check out our forums announcement for initial details. In the meantime, you can find the list of bug fixes we’ve addressed below.


Faction Missions:

  • We adjusted the rates of influence gain over time so that it will continue to require significant effort over time to flip a territory into conflict state:
  • Reduced the amount of influence increase over time significantly for attacking factions. This is to account for a bug we found where the increase was multiplied much faster than intended over time.
  • Removed the decrease in influence over time for defending factions.


General Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where players could respawn as a corpse.
  • Fixed an issue where the tier 3 fishing treasure chest wouldn’t fight back after being hooked.
  • Fixed various localization issues and text fields.
  • Fixed an issue causing players kicked, suspended, banned, or removed from the game by Easy Anti-Cheat to receive unclear communication. Additional messaging has been added so players can better understand the penalty they received.
  • Fixed an issue causing territory influence to be reset after an Invasion.
  • Fixed an issue where players attempting to take a split amount of stacked items from a different settlement their faction owns, they were charged for the entire cost of the items in the stack.
  • Fixed a game crash caused by a player targeting another player with a healing effect at the exact moment they fast traveled or teleported away.
  • Fixed an issue reducing variety and potential quantity of loot obtained from game modes and chests within the world.
  • Fixed an issue causing some crafting bonuses to not provide the minimum intended values.
  • Fixed an issue where overflow items in storage transferred to a different territory.
  • Fixed an issue where petting Barkimedes caused the camera to jitter.
  • Fixed an issue causing the Ice Pylon ability to not cooldown appropriately.
  • Fixed an issue where settlement storage can become massively overflowed by expired contracts.
  • Fixed an issue where player’s movement could stutter after becoming encumbered from logging.
  • Fixed an issue where there were not enough chests at Hapless Homestead to fulfill Faction quest requirements.
  • Fixed an issue causing players to randomly teleport.
  • Fixed an issue where players disappear if standing still when a campsite turret blueprint is being held.
  • Fixed a visual issue causing repeater turrets to appear as if they were firing projectiles at an angle that did not align with the turret.
  • Fixed miscellaneous game crashes.

AI Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where Marshjaw respawned slower than intended at Flatfish Fishery.
  • Fixed an issue causing certain bears to respawn faster than intended.
  • Fixed an issue causing twice the intended number of Boars to spawn at the Boarsholm POI in Restless Shores.

Store Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where players could be prompted to purchase an item they had previously started the unlocking process on in the in-game store when trying to unlock another item immediately after.
  • Fixed an issue causing store previews for skins to not work correctly when the player was actively wielding a weapon.
  • Fixed an issue where the Righteous Guardian armor skin would not change color in War.

Stone Story RPG - MintyFresh
The Council once held dominion over The Dark World, from the lowest Canyons to the highest Ridges. Their influence remains, a presence that tells of the Remnants of Five.

Remnants of Five
In Remnants of Five, players will have a chance to meet Uulaa, the Ember Eye. Once a member of the esteemed Council of Five, the Matron of Flame has not been seen for many cycles. However, some say she’d prefer to keep it that way...

Hans has tasked you with discovering the location of his long-lost friend. Where in the Dark World could someone like Uulaa be hiding?


Along with this Legend, Stone Story RPG will also be adding a new shop, the Hotspring Shop, that uses a resource many of you have already been saving up: Ki Crystals!*

*You can find more details about Ki Crystal economy further down in the post

The Hotspring Shop will stock rare and hard to find items that players can purchase with their crystal currency. The inventory found here is of much higher quality than will be found in the Mushroom Shop; intrepid adventurers can expect to purchase valuable loot like nametags, legendary enchantments, and even Lost Items!



Since the items in the Hotspring Shop will be of greater quality, the way the Ki Crystal economy works will be a bit different. Crystals, however, can be obtained both through playing the game, completing weekly quests, and finding them in Delta treasures.

But that’s not all: this content patch also introduces Weekly Quests! Each week you’ll get a new set of objectives that, upon completion, will provide you with a Crystal Treasure.

Shop Mechanics and Game Economy (design talk ahead!)
While we want to make use of certain idle/mobile mechanics, PC players can rest assured that we have no intentions of adding microtransactions to the desktop client.

We do have a mobile port with monetization in mind further down the line, but we took what was necessary for mobile (e.g. the Ki Crystal shop) and instead of excluding it from the PC, we've reframed it.

Not as a monetization tool, but as an engaging mechanic; formatted for a different purpose, with different balance values, that we hope adds to the game's fun.



As discussed in a previous post, Stone Story RPG is a metrics-driven project. This means that we base many of our design choices around trends and statistics that we notice in how players progress through the game.

Changes are made in order to engage players through the 1st day of playing to the 7th day to the 30th day (the D1 > D7 > D30 funnel).

Major factors in this design are shop mechanics. Functionally, they are a way to give players options: the option to brute force a challenge, the option to farm and stockpile, the option to choose how they progress.



In Stone Story RPG we want players to have room to experiment and play around. The Mushroom Shop does that for the early-mid game; it gives you a way to buy items like runes to overcome a difficult combat encounter that you might not have figured out the optimal solution for yet.

The Ki Crystal shop is a way for us to add this kind of flexibility to the mid-late game, going hand-in-hand with Quests and their respective rewards.

We’re still experimenting with how these systems and mechanics work in tandem with each other, which is where the Quest Update comes into play. Slowly, but surely, we’re filling Stone Story RPG’s design out and bringing it one step closer to the full vision we have in mind.

New World - Windsward
General

We've implemented the groundwork for the character server transfer, and you may see elements of that work in the in-game store. We're continuing to work on this feature, and will have more information on how the system works later this week when we release server transfers.


War

Changed turret projectiles in War from physical projectiles to use hitscan detection. This should help performance in War, with fewer objects being spawned in the world.


AFK Prevention

In an effort to ensure players can’t stay AFK, especially in higher population servers, we’ve made the following adjustments to the AFK prevention system.
  • Added additional AFK prevention to ensure players cannot fool the existing system with simulated mouse movement.
  • Shortened the AFK warning message from 20mins to 15mins.
  • Shortened the AFK disconnect from 25mins to 20mins.

World Queue

We added a confirmation screen when a player attempts to leave the queue for a world, asking the player to confirm if they’re intending to leave the queue. This should help ensure nobody accidentally leaves the queue and misses out on their spot in line.


General Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a rare issue causing the interact key to not properly function on various objects in the world.
  • Fixed an issue causing the barrel to not appear in “Pirate Stance” emote.
  • Fixed an issue where players did not receive coin as a reward from some activities.
  • Fixed a bug where interrupting the fast travel animation may cause the player’s character to become stuck inside of a house.
  • Fixed an issue in Territory Standing rewards where some localized text was missing.
  • Fixed an issue where players are asked to claim achievement titles multiple times after logging back into the game, despite already having claimed the rewards.
  • Fixed an issue causing leg animations to freeze.
  • Fixed game crashes related to the New World Twitch integrations.
  • Fixed a rare issue where players could enter state where they could not be hit by most attacks.
  • Fixed an issue where certain item containers could be looted infinitely.
  • Fixed an issue where the abandoning event notification could sometimes persist after the player abandoned the event.

AI Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue causing Pastor Walsh to spawn aggressively at the Walsham point of interest (POI).
  • Fixed an issue causing enemies to spawn slower than intended in the Bullrush Wash POI.
  • Fixed an issue causing Overseer Zane to respawn slower than intended in the "Something to Prove" quest.
  • Fixed an issue where Master Zindt could have duplicated respawns at the Kannan Tomb POI.

Quest Fixes

  • Added missing journal information about the recommended quest level for players attempting to unlock the second faction rank.
  • Fixed an issue where resetting the “Blessings of Earth” quest when you have gained any of the blessings will block progression in the Main Story Quest (MSQ).
  • Fixed an issue where the "Azoth Fulminate" quest will be unavailable to players if they first complete other Windsward quests.
  • Fixed an issue where completing the “Goodwill Squashing” quest prevents the player from obtaining the “Arruda Jam” quest.
  • Fixed an issue where the barkeep conversation state in First Light can enter a state where quests cannot be obtained from the barkeep.
  • Fixed an issue where completing the "Taste for Revenge" quest prevents the player from obtaining the "Predator, Prey" and "Great Expectations" quests.
  • Fixed an issue where completing the “Curse of Ebony Hawk” quest prevents the player from obtaining the “Bond’s Gambit” quest.
  • Fixed an issue where completing "The Expedition into Saircor" quest prevents the player from obtaining the "One Threat at a Time" quest.
  • Fixed an issue where completing the "Strength of the Earth" quest prevents the player from obtaining the "Fading Lights" and "Azure Tears" quests.

Deus Ex: Revision - Hawk
Today is our six-year anniversary for Deus Ex: Revision, and we mark the occasion with an anniversary update, v1.6.3.

After six years I feel like I've accomplished all changes and fixes I've wanted to make. Content in these patches has dying down over time to the point where hardly any changes have been made in the past year. With that, I may call it the final update (not guaranteed, I've thought this for the last few years, and will still fix bugs that are reported). That said, I want to focus on some other aspects of Revision and the Deus Ex community.



Revision v1.6.3
Modifiers:
  • Ammo - Halved
    • Ammo pickups will give half as much ammo.
  • Ammo - Lethal Bias
    • Lethal ammo pickups give 50% more, but non-lethal pickups give half as much.
  • Ammo - Non-lethal Bias
    • Non-lethal ammo pickups give 50% more, but lethal pickups give half as much.
  • Augmentations - Allow Replacing
    • Like in Shifter, augmentations can be swapped out for another.
  • Augmentations - Duplicate Upgrades
    • Like in Shifter, duplicate augmentations can be used as upgrades.
  • Smaller DTS
    • DTS is reduced to a realistic, unbalanced, 1x1 item.
  • Weapon Kill Stats
    • Weapons show their total kills/knock-outs in their stats.
Gameplay:

  • Lowered the reload time for the railgun when used by Simons.
Misc:
  • Increased lip tween time.
  • Fixed a broken chapter 8 achievement.

  • The text for skill names/descriptions when starting a new game now uses the color theme's proper text color, instead of button colors.


Revision v0.5?
Personally, I've always felt that the heart and ultimate point of Revision was its maps, because of that I haven't felt the need to try making the option for vanilla maps a thing, it just seemed to go against the spirit of the mod. However, since people keep requesting it I decided to give it a go a few days ago. The option can now be accessed in Settings > Game Options > Map Style > Vanilla.

Note that many Revision exclusive features like a large amount of achievements, Revision/PS2 music, some modifiers, challenges, survival, etc, won't be available in this mode. It also won't be compatible with current playthroughs, only new ones.

Please do not recommend this mode for new players either, instead, please recommend the Deus Ex: Transcended mod (see below). In addition, this mode uses whatever files are found in the base Deus Ex\Maps folder (Not Revision\Maps), so it may be worth overwriting these files with Transcended's versions if you want vanilla map bug fixes. Along with this, these maps will use the non-Revision conversation packages, so translations can be installed on the base game and used in Revision.



Revision v2.0 - ECHELON?
Revision's 2.0 update titled 'ECHELON' was planned from at least 2017, with the goal to remake all of Revision's maps (or at least the first half) with higher quality. Unfortunately, after a few maps the mapper's editor broke and he was unable to fix it, resulting in progress being stopped for the last few years.

With that, I sincerely doubt that the maps will ever be finalized. However, we always liked the changes that were made and I wanted to make sure they get some appreciation. The maps are unpolished, some areas such as the windows outside of the Ton Hotel weren't finished, and performance is generally worse, but the design aspect is much, much higher than vanilla or the current version of Revision.


To access Echelon version, go to your library, right click on Revision, Properties > Betas, input the password "ECHELONVERSION".

Released just a few days ago, "The Lay D Denton Project" finally allows players to play as female JC Denton, with 1,700 lines of dialogue re-recorded. Fully thorough, this mod goes as far to alter gendered dialogue to complete the immersion.

Dreisstrager Design: Kazutaka Miyatake

The first Dreisstrager-class Cutting-Edge All-Purpose Combat Mothership. As a mothership, it is designed to carry a variety of humanoid mobile weapons of different sizes and functions; however, it also possesses the core tactical functions of a battleship. The Dreisstrager is an ultra-scale trimaran, two kilometers long, powered by a large helical laser tandem compressed photon thermonuclear fusion reactor, a piece of supertechnology. There are multiple launch gates throughout the hull; particularly notable is the super robot-use vertical launch gate located in the central block, placed on top of a colossal hangar that can house several humanoid mobile weapons with great heights.

An incident has led to her becoming the captain of the Dreisstrager-class Cutting-Edge All-Purpose Combat Mothership. She has a diligent personality, a positive attitude, and leadership skills that will not falter in the face of difficulties.

Despite his weakness in dealing with unforeseen situations, he supports Mitsuba, a former student of his who has been appointed captain of the Dreisstrager.
