The New Potential System

To reduce the complexity of the PVP potential system we have undertaken a massive rework. We hope to give players more potential combinations in PVP mode to enhance strategic diversity.

The new potential system will be unlocked at level 5 and comes with 1 potential point. Every subsequent 2 levels will earn you 1 potential point, up to a maximum of 18 potential points. If you are new to NARAKA we will also share some handy recommended builds to help you on your PVP journey.

Hero Skill Adjustment in Season 12

We will be introducing skill reworks for previous heroes in upcoming patches. Our goal is to preserve and integrate the gameplay as much as possible while ensuring that the adjusted skills are better suited for the current battle environment.

Here's a sneak peek of the skill changes for some of our heroes in Season 12:

Hadi:

Combining his F1 and F3 variants into a new skill with the default effect of F1. Adjustments to Ult 2 and 3 for improved balance.

Tianhai:

Removing Divine Bell: Blast (F3 skill) and ult 2 (grab teammates). Strengthening Vajra combos to enhance his threat level.

Yueshan:

Merging F3 and F2 skills and incorporating the Terror effect into skill 2 variant. Optimizing skill casting and values. Removing ult 2 variants.

Tessa:

Removing skill 3 and ult 3 variants.

Extended Testing Period For New Heroes

We will be extending the testing period for new heroes and opening the server one patch earlier. This means that players will have the opportunity to experience and provide feedback on the new heroes before their official launch. This will also give us more data to adjust the balance of the new heroes based on player feedback.

We hope that you will be excited to try out our new hero - Lyam Liu the Ascendant Lodestar - in the Test Server on April 18th. Stay tuned for more details about him, his story, and his abilities!

Two New Casual Modes

In our first update of Season 12, we will introduce a new mode: Hot Potato Counter Mode. In Hot Potato Counter Mode, the criteria for victory will be to eliminate your opponents with a ball on the field.

You can use normal attacks, focus attacks, counters and hero skills to control the state and direction of the ball. If the ball turns red, it means it's time to strike. You can choose to press the right button to pass the ball to your teammates, or you can choose other actions to throw the ball at the enemy directly in front of you. The speed of the ball will get faster and faster as you pass it again and again!

Unlike other game modes, Hot Potato Counter is turn-based. The team that accumulates the most points over a set of rounds wins. Points are awarded for hitting and eliminating other players in each round. Weary from your battles in Morus Isle? Come and experience a different kind of rush in the new Hot Potato Counter Mode!

In addition, to Hot Potato Counter Mode we are looking into adding another mode that focuses players into two teams and they duke it out using their ultimates. To start, it will have Tianhai, Feria, and Yueshan as playable heroes! Be sure to stay tuned to our channels for more details.

Mode Changes: Immortal War

To improve the experience overall of Immortal War, as well as to add some additional excitement we are making a couple of changes.

First, we will limit the highest tier level for equipment found in stashes to Rare. This will require that you visit Rift Dealers to get Epic armor and weapons. Second, we are increasing the Dark Tide Coins gained on kills and this increase grows over time. Teams that are playing well can kill their opponents, gain coins, and reap even greater power. Third, the Cave Key will now be available at the Rift Dealer with the cave now featuring better rewards and an extra Morus’ Blessing.

You can try out these changes in the test server on April 3rd.

Festive Events

Festival of Water

Get ready to celebrate the Festival of Water from April 11th to April 25th! During this lively event, the Swarm in the game will transform into Hydro-Swarm, playfully spraying water at players. You can engage in quests and complete them to unlock exciting event rewards, including a water element-related rescue effect, a unique pose, or a special kill announcement.

Brand New Content

I. Showdown Season 1.5: Turmoil

We've reworked Potential and remade all core Potential effects! Try out all-new strategies in the upcoming season!

4. New Item: Flux Shard
An imbuement item that can be used to change a specific Attribute of Showdown Souljade into another random rare Attribute.

To get this item, you must complete the Nightscream level of the new stage, reach Showdown Paragon in Yama's Abyss, or purchase a Showdown Pass.

5. Season Settlements
Chasm Season will end on March 21, 2024 at 00:00 (UTC)
(1) Season Rewards:

In the new Showdown Season, the [Regular Treasure Choice Gift] will be upgraded to [Peerless Treasure Choice Gift] (includes Brocade Treasure).
(2) Showdown Leaderboard Rewards
Players will be rewarded with an Avatar that corresponds to the highest rank that they held on the leaderboards at any point during this Showdown Chasm Season (recorded either at weekly settlement or at season settlement). Additionally, the top 3 players on each leaderboard will receive an exclusive Hero Badge.
(3) Progress Reset:

Dev Note: In the first Showdown Season, we introduced the new mode "Yama's Abyss", where Sense Level had no negative impact, completely new Anima Ring gameplay, seeking to let everybody enjoy a purer combat experience. After a full season has come and gone, we are carrying out wide-ranging optimizations of many parts of Yama's Abyss, as well as upgrading the season rewards. We welcome everyone to try out Yama's Abyss and hope that you all continue to provide such valuable feedback.

Optimized the attack performance of casting Ultimates in the air.

In-game Adjustments

I. Feature Optimizations

Improved the scout effects of items like the Scout Bell and Mystic Might by adding a new ability to mark the nearest 3 enemies with yellow icons, making it easier for players to quickly locate enemy positions.

II. Heroes Assemble Adjustments

Reduced the Max Health of all enemies in Operatic Flames, the first stage of the Heroes Assemble.

III. Immortal War Adjustments

1. Increased the number of Realm of Yang in the first round of the Immortal War (both solo and Trios modes) from 2 to 3.
2. Added another round of automatically triggered Banebreath.

IV. Controller Adjustments

1. Added a new combination key for [2nd-stage Ultimate]. Players can use this key to trigger subsequent stages for certain heroes like Shayol Wei and Akos Hu after activating their [Ultimates].
2. Players can configure the [2nd-stage Ultimate] key in [ESC] - [Controls] - [Controller] - [Remap].

Out-game Adjustments

I. Fairyland Penglai

1. NARAKA Ball has returned!
2. When you enter the vicinity of the Songbird Arena, Pantheon, or the plaza area in front of Pantheon, the NARAKA Ball form will automatically deactivate.
3. Adjusted the collision mechanism with other players when using the NARAKA Ball form.

II. New Visual Display and Interactive Mode on the Home Page

1. The Home page is now divided into two major sections: [The Herald's Trial] and [Showdown].
Each section has its own unique visual display.

Added the [Preparation] feature: In [The Herald's Trial], it is for equipping Talent Glyphs and Skills/Ultimates; In [Showdown], it is for heroes and Souljade cultivation, Potential, and the Showdown Shop.

Adjusted the [Select Mode] and [RANK] panels. They now display only relevant gameplay and content specific to their sections.

III. Match History

1. Added match history for the Showdown mode.

IV. Justice Chamber

1. Can take over the position of the Leader of the Justice Chamber now.
Co-Leaders may apply to become the Leader once the current Leader has been offline for 14 days. Members may apply to become the Leader once both the current Leader and Co-Leader have been offline for 14 days. Once a new Leader is appointed, the former Leader will lose their position and become a member again.

2. Newly added the Justice Chamber Tag
The chamber Leader can choose the suitable tags in [Edit the Justice Chamber].

V. Hero Voice

Change the ultimate-casting voice line of enemy Akos Hu to the previous one.

VI. Collection Feature Optimizations

After the upgrade, you can freely use the cosmetic from the previous level.

VII. Others

1. Adjusted the initial level required to unlock [The Bloodbath] to 9.
2. Adjusted the initial level required to unlock the [BOT Mode - Medium] to 10 and to unlock the [BOT Mode - Hard] to 20.
3. The [RANK] feature is now unlocked by default.

Showdown Adjustments

I. Mechanism Adjustments

1. [Burn] and [Soaked] effects inflicted on enemies by different players now operate independently. Additionally, [Burn] or [Soaked] effects from different sources can stack on the same enemy.
For example: (1) Player A and Player B each use the Souljade [Cloudscorch] to attack the same enemy. This enemy will have a total of 2 stacks of [Burn] from the two players.
(2) Player A uses the Souljade [Cloudscorch] and the Souljade [Ember] to attack an enemy. This enemy has 1 stack of [Burn] from each respective Souljade.
2. The Hydroflare effects triggered by players using [Burn] and [Soaked] now operate separately.
Example: The [Hydroflare] effect will only activate when [Burn] and [Soaked] from Player A come into contact. [Burn] caused by Player B cannot work with [Soaked] from Player A to create the [Hydroflare] effect.
3. You can now see icons representing [Burn] and [Soaked] effects from you displayed next to the Boss's Health Bar.

II. Combat Adjustments

1. Increased the startup frames of Omnius·Beast's Dragon's Coil.
2. Optimized visual display of Omnius·Umbra Scorch, Omnius·Umbra Rock, Matron of Yushan·Umbra, and Omnius·Umbra Aureate.

III. Souljade Adjustments

1. Some Souljades are temporarily unavailable. They will be obtainable through other means in future versions. Players who already own these Souljades will not be affected and can continue to develop them. Below is the list of Souljades affected:
[Tracking Arrow], [Dealer Phantom], [Advanced Heal Crossbow], [Wave Roll], [Blue Moon], [Splitter], [Stamina Strike], [Dual Ring], [Venom Tip], [Scarlet Guanyin], and [Bounce Shell].
2. Optimized the overview of the following Souljades: [Thunderproof], [Condensed Qi], [Thunderpull], and [Tundra Might]. Optimized the detailed description of the Souljade effects of [Sub-Zero Seal] and [Desperation Shield].
3. [Burn] and [Fire Arrows]
Increased the burning multiplier per second from 0.3 to 0.4.
4. [Gunpowder]
Increased the burning multiplier per second from 0.25 to 0.4.

IV. Hero Adjustments

1. Advanced the dodge timing for all heroes' Defuse Martial Skills.
2. Valda Cui
(1) Increased the Damage Multiplier of individual water bombs from [Water Trap: Showdown] from 0.3 to 0.4, with Aegis-break ability increased from 450 to 600.
(2) Increased the Aegis-break ability of the Horizontal Strike water spear from [Rising Tide: Showdown] from 350 to 1225, with the Damage Multiplier of the water spear's direct hit + explosion increased from 2.0+0.25 to 0.25+2.0.
(3) Adjusted the Attack reduction applied by [Soaked] from 10% to 5%.

V. Enigma Domain Adjustments

1. During the temporary closure of the Enigma Peak in the Chasm Season, players can still claim rewards. Please stay tuned for further notice about the new season's Enigma Peak.
2. Added new map: Celestra
3. In the Enigma Domain, the Matron of Yushan has been replaced by Omnius·Aureate, the Fiery Monster has been replaced by Iron Taifeng, and the Frostbite Omens have been replaced by the Thunder Omens.

VI. Yama's Abyss Adjustments

Added Korvine to the Yama's Abyss, and some of the bosses on certain stages have been adjusted.
Introduced Sense Level to Yama's Abyss. Players below the recommended level will not be affected, but those above it will.
Adjusted the fixed Omens appeared on Stage 26 and above.
Adjusted the rules for distributing Enhancements during the preparation phase. Now, it is fixed to choose 1 Elemental Essence and 1 Rare Anima Ring, with an option of selecting up to 1 from a maximum of 5 Anima Rings. If at least one boss was defeated in the previous Yama's Abyss stage, 1 Anima Ring can be upgraded to an Epic Ring.
The Souljade [Copper Ward] can be obtained from loots once again.
Optimized the descriptions of the effects of the following Anima Rings: [Might·Robust], [Armor Conversion], [Might·High Roller], and [Wealth Confluence].
The effect of the Anima Ring [Mighty Counter·Gale Blast] has been changed. After a successful Counter, trigger an Astral Gust, dealing damage equal to that of a Counterstrike Combo to nearby enemies. Has a 0.5 sec cooldown. The damage multiplier of the Astral Gust at Lv.1 has been increased from 2.5 to 5.6, and at Lv.2 and Lv.3, the damage coefficients are 1.7 and 2.5 times that of Lv.1, respectively.
[Yin-Yang]-type Anima Rings will no longer appear in this Showdown Season.
The Anima Ring [Backup Armor], [Dampen·Discharge], [Dampen·Resistance], [Dampen·Resilience], and [Frostbite Fortitude] will no longer be available this season.

VII. Feature Adjustments

1. Upgrade Hero Changes
The cadence of content and the leveling speed had been adjusted. Martial Skills, Aegis-break and Defuse will now unlock earlier than before, and we've raised the leveling speed.

2. Increase the maximum Sense Level cap for Souljades dropped in all stages
This means that it is possible to get a max Sense Level Souljade as a stage drop. When the Sense Level of a stage drop is higher than the global drop level, the drop's level will be set to that of the global drop level.

We will also display the Souljade's original enhancement level cap. Both of these levels will continue increase slightly with each game update.

Feature Adjustments

I. Client Optimizations

1. Direct3D 12 has been updated and now uses FSR3, adding frame insertion functionality, thus greatly improving effects and framerate.
2. Added an asynchronous instantiation feature, which optimizes the amount of time used to load scenery resources, improving overall performance and reducing fluctuations.
3. Adjusted how numbers are generated in combat, reducing fluctuations in the heat of battle.

II. PlayStation Optimizations

Reduced the loading cost of character facial animations for a more stable frame rate.

III. Xbox Optimizations

1. Increased the efficiency of GraphicsJob and improved render rate.
2. Optimized skeletal animation rendering processes, and improved the character render rate.

Bug Fixes

I. Showdown-related Bugs

1. Fixed the problem where Hammer Evil-Ent failed to bounce back the Sword Energy after Countering.
2. Optimized the height of the locking position when locking on the Matron of Yushan.
3. Fixed the issue where the Omens [Divine Strikes] could potentially produce double Thundershock.

II. Other Bugs

Fixed the Hairstyle [Torrent] display effect for Valda Cui in the hairstyle interface to make it closer to its appearance in battles.

I. New Morus' Blessing Combat Item Available: White Tiger's Prowess

The Heralds believe the mighty White Tiger's appearance to be a symbol of warfare, and that those with its blessing are destined for greatness in battle.
1. Effect Details: Instantly restores a set amount of Health, Armor, and Rage to all allied units, as well as restoring their Health over time (excess Health is restored as Armor). While the owner of White Tiger's Prowess survives, any allied unit will gain a permanent Melee Resist and Ranged Resist boost upon defeating an enemy. However, the likelihood of different types of monsters coordinating their attacks has slightly increased.

1. Adjustments to Eventide Ember Stages:
