Good morning community!

Apologies to start with, for the long radio silence. I am having a turbulent time these days between work and a home move that is hitting more hurdles than expected.

I have been listening to the feedback I have been getting on Steam, as well as our Korea and Japan launch that has now concluded. I see that the actual experience of the game fell short of what I intended for this at the launch version of the game.

In the last few months I have been poking around when possible to see areas of improvement and taking in feedback and there is now clarity on the path ahead.

A very comprehensive overhaul and update to the game is now afoot and I hope to complete by December end. I will be updating locomotion and movement, combat, adding new combat options, adding verticality, and adding more story and investigation elements into the game.

I will also be overhauling the game map with more focus on the traditional mountain village feel, that people seemed to like and less on the modern cyberpunk themes for this first map.

I will have comprehensive patch notes together with the update in December, until then - know that the game has not been abandoned and updates are coming! I am grateful for the people that purchased this and I have a clear path to improvement ahead of me now.

Burnie is a robot who's here for all your toasting needs. You meet Burnie in your apartment in the early days of Border Bots VR. Make sure you interact daily with this iconic robot! 🤩


Questioning purpose
Burnie asks the real questions and not just about bread! When interacting with this robot around your apartment in Border Bots VR, you'll find out he's questioning his purpose if he's not toasting things. So give Burnie a helping hand by finding items to toast!


Practise Toasting
This robot needs to practise their talents and you are the key to this! If Burnie isn't toasting, how will he get his 10,000 hours in? Without this, there's no chance they can become an expert in their field. Don't leave him alone, that'd be crummy of you!


Not just bread!
There are many ways to interact with this engaging robot in your apartment. Burnie's toasting needs don't stop at bread... but we will let you all explore this for yourselves in February! 👀


In Case You Missed it
Border Bots VR is a lighthearted single-player puzzle job-simulator set on a future earth where AI is in control. As a human border agent, you begin a new role as a booth operator at an AI travel border. Interact and check over a variety of robots as they try to get through security. Some of their credentials might not be up to scratch, it's up to you to make sure they get the stamp of approval.

Border Bots VR now releases on 8th February 2024 for SteamVR!

PvE and SpecOps
  • "Cyber Horde": the final boss can now receive full damage by getting shot both in the antenna and the body. On top of that, its overall HP has been increased by about 20% (applies to all difficulty levels).


Bug Fixes
Important
  • Fixed a bug that caused the client to crash when creating a clan.
  • Fixed some bugs that sometimes caused the client to crash upon opening or closing.
  • Fixed an issue when using smoke grenades could cause drops in FPS.
Weapons and Gear
  • Molotov: fixed a bug, due to which it was impossible to perform certain actions when passing through the flames.
  • Fixed a bug, due to which the RPM boost doesn't show up when installing a fire rate boosting mod.
  • Beretta PMX: fixed a bug, due to which when picking the weapon off the ground and immediately switching to it, the gun could have visual artefacts.
PvP
  • "Manor": fixed some visual bugs.
Other
  • Brightness settings: fixed a bug, due to which some players didn't receive a notification about the updated brightness settings.
  • In-game shop:
    • fixed a bug, due to which some boxes were missing from the global search.
    • fixed a bug, due to which boosters and currency packs weren't displayed correctly.
  • Fixed a bug, due to which some skinned items in the shop didn't also have the base item name.

King Arthur: Knight's Tale - oeregharcos
In King Arthur: Knight’s Tale,
one of the enemy factions are the Sidhe. Technically, two factions, as there are two warring courts. The newest seasonal update titled Rising Eclipse will focus on them, so let’s refresh what we know about these magical folk.

  • The Sidhe (also known as the Fairy People or the Fair Folk) were once revered as Gods by the mortals. They have retreated to the Land of the Young, Tír na nÓg, a place between Britannia and the otherworld. As Arthur makes an appearance, they return to their sacred woods in Avalon, and settle in the eternal twilight of the magical wilderness of Deepwood, that acts as a gateway to other realms of existence.
  • They are unpredictable, alien forces, even the most reasonable individuals of their kind will make deadly deals with unassuming wanderers. They wield powerful magic and they use it for negotiations and destruction.
  • They have two different courts, the Seelie and the Unseelie. The Seelie Court represents spring and summer, daytime and brightness, their crystal towers reflect and magnify the sunlight. Don’t mistake this for benevolence – they gather power from heat and fire. This court is home to the Springborn and Summerborn who were once mortals. The Unseelie Court, however, is a sad, melancholic bunch, they weave their somber castles from mists and spiderweb, and they raise Autumnbreed and Winderbreed fighters.
  • Yes, both Sidhe Courts have a long-standing tradition to raise disposable warbands using human children who were stolen from their cribs as infants. The Seelie Court takes these changelings into their forts of amber and thorns: time crawls sluggishly there, which grants the Sidhe years and years to shape these children both physically and mentally, until they become vicious creatures that will fight against their own kind blindly.
  • The Sidhe are cunning and powerful enemies in Avalon, so always watch your step and words when encountering them. You will recognize their territories from the unique architecture and ornaments.

Of course, King Arthur: Knight’s Tale takes some artistic liberties and has a unique take on these Fairy People.

  • The word ‘Sídhe’ originally meant fairy mounds, and ‘Aos Sí’ was the name of the people of these tumuli. ‘Sídhe’ as a loanword took on more meanings, for example, the legendary poet W. B. Yeats was among those who referred to the fairies as ‘Sídhe’, but it has been conjectured that 'sídh' is also synonymous with ‘immortal’.
  • This is a whole rabbit hole of linguistics and folklore, so if you want to learn more about them, make sure to pick up some handbooks of Celtic myths and legends, or any collections of various Irish and Scottish fairy tales. Because of the nature of these stories you will find many variations and mutations on the same themes and names, which is also the case with the core Arthurian legend.
