Hovership Havoc is a difficult game but there are some things you can do to give yourself the best chance at getting far. Here are some tips and tricks for the game
Movement: Keep moving and use Hovership’s momentum to your advantage. Your Hovership will take damage if you make contact with an enemy, but with most smaller enemies, you damage them back!
Speed Burst: All Hoverships start with the Speed Burst ability by default. You can use it to quickly change direction or get out of the way of attacks. It gives you a split second of invulnerability that you can use to dodge through smaller enemies or enemy attacks!
Abilities: Do not forget to utilize any of the abilities you find along the way. They have unlimited uses, you just need to wait for it’s cooldown period. You can also spend your ORBs to upgrade your abilities which will make them even more useful but decreasing their cooldown time, increase damage, damage radius, and duration of use!
Weapon Temperature: While using your weapon, your hovership may overheat so you need to watch the weapon temperature bar or watch the screen to start to turn red to indicate you are about to overheat. Getting damaged will also drive up your temperature, so be on the look out. Luckily, you can spend ORBs to upgrade your weapon temperature so you will overheat less often(if at all!)
ORB Collection Upgrades: Destroyed enemies will drop blue ORBs for you to collect. Collect as many as you can as you can use those ORBs to upgrade the stats on your Hovership!
Blue!!!: All the player abilities, bullets, and weapons are blue. No enemies will ever be blue or shoot anything blue at you. Make sure to dodge any bullet that isn’t blue. If it’s Blue, it won’t hurt you!
Permanent Upgrades: Each Hovership has it’s own base “Level”. Keep playing to earn XP for each individual Hovership that you can then spend on permanent upgrades for that Hovership. Shooting your weapon, destroying enemies and boss, collecting ORBs, and getting damaged all accumulate to your Hovership Level. Just keep playing and upgrade your ship if you are getting stuck on a certain level or boss!
Bosses: Keep picking off the small enemies as quickly as you can so you don't get overrun by too many at a time. You can attack the boss at any point, just keep looking around you for any small enemies that may have recently spawned!
Hovership Havoc features more than 30 sci-fi upgradeable abilities. Things like drones, lasers, shields, and rockets are all different types of the randomly dropped abilities you will find. Depending on the ability, when you upgrade(level up) an ability, you will improve any of the applicable stats like the duration, damage, damage radius, and cooldown time for that ability. Using your abilities will be increasingly important as you progress through the game a
Homing Missiles: Launches a bunch of homing missiles that auto target nearby enemies. Upgrading this ability will increase the damage of each missile and decrease the amount of time you need to wait for the ability to be available to use again.
Laser Line: Shoots out a powerful laser beam that deals damage over time to any enemies in its path. Upgrading this will increase the damage, the duration the laser is active for, and decrease the wait time between each use.
Drone Auto Turret: This ability launches a small drone that will float above your hovership and auto target nearby enemies. Upgrading this will increase the bullet damage, the duration that the drone will stay with your hovership, and decrease the cooldown period for each use.
Laser Disc: The laser disc is a bouncy disc that will bounce around the environment and deal significant damage to any enemies it passes through. Upgrading this ability will increase the damage, duration, and decrease the cooldown period for each use.
Projectile Shield: The projectile shield is a defensive ability that allows you to place a shield that will block any enemy bullets or lasers shot at you. Upgrading this ability will increase the duration that the shield will stay in place and decrease the amount of time you need to wait in order to use the shield again.
These abilities are just a few of the randomly dropped abilities that you will come across. All of the abilities are upgradeable and your upgrades to them will carry over to the boss battles so you can use these abilities in top down and in a 3rd person perspective!

A while back I compiled a video of how Hovership Havoc looked over the 3 years since I started developing it. So in case you missed it, here is a video of how things looked and how the game went from looking like this:
To how it looks now,
Take a look at the whole process over the 3 years of development, here:
Here is a quick overview of the enemies you will encounter in Hovership Havoc!
Spider Bots: The most common enemy but there are 4 different variants, with their own color to help differentiate between them all. The yellow spider bot is the standard one with average speed and average HP. The orange bot is really fast but with a low HP. The red bot has high HP but moves slightly slower than the yellow spider bot. It also has the ability to sometimes jump forward which can make it a bit unpredictable. The purple spider bot has a turret on it’s back and will shoot at you at an interval. They all will continue to chase you down until you or they are destroyed.
Rolling Bot: Next up is the the Rolling Bot. It rolls around quickly and aimlessly with it’s cool as heck helmet and goggles. It is extremely unpredictable and will bounce around the environment and sometimes will surprise you and come into view out of nowhere. They have fairly low HP but you will still need to keep an eye on your surroundings to see if any of these robots are spawned.
Drone: Flying drone that will auto target your hovership and will intermittently change positions in the level. It has slightly above average HP and his laser weapon moves pretty quickly.
Flamethrower Turret: Stationary turret that will rotate around with it’s flamethrower shooting outware. These have above average HP and there’s a chance that they can have a shield that will make them invincible for a few seconds at a time. So you will have to watch for these while maneuvering past all the smaller enemies!
Turret: Stationary turret that will auto target your hovership and shoot projectile missiles at you. They have above average HP and their range is really far. They also have a chance of have a shield to make them invincible for a few seconds at a time.
Laser Turret: The laser turret is a stationary turret that shoots out lasers in 2 or 4 directions at a time. It has super high HP and their lasers have a very long range. You will need to maneuver between the lasers to get close enough to damage these turrets!
Mechs: There are 2 main mech types, an assault mech and a sniper mech. The assault mech will follow you and shoot it’s slower moving missiles at your hovership. The sniper mech moves a bit faster but it shoots extremely fast moving laser at you. Both of these mechs have high HP.
Tanks: Instead of following you like the mechs, the tanks will try to roll into open areas and avoid your hovership. There are 2 tanks as well, an assault tank and a sniper tank. The assault tank shoots an average missile moving at an average pace. The sniper tank shoots a very fast moving missile from afar. They both have extremely high HP and both utilize a shield to make them invincible for short periods of time.

Here is a brief overview of each of the playable Hoverships in Hovership Havoc. Each hovership has a speed burst ability from the start and can equip any two of more than 30 randomly dropped abilities. Each hovership is also fully upgradeable across 7 different stats like speed, shot rate and weapon damage!
Devastator: The Devastator is the quickest hovership available. It’s main weapon packs a huge punch with extremely high damage and a wide spread. But it balances out by having a short range and a low shot rate. You will need to keep moving and use this hovership’s speed to your advantage to get in close to deal damage, but then get away as quick as you can.
Plasma Gatling: Like the Devastator, the Plasma Gatling is a pretty speedy hovership. It’s main weapon has very low damage and a short range. It has a wide spread and an extremely high rate of fire. You will have to really watch your weapon temperature as to not overheat, but you can deal plenty of damage as long as you keep moving to keep your momentum.
Laser Blaster: The Laser Blaster is somewhere in the middle of all the hoverships. It has average speed, damage, range, and spread. This hovership shoots 3 bullets at the same time but you must aim accordingly because there is a gap between each of the 3 bullets which can be helpful because of the increase in spread. But it could also be tricky because some enemies can sneak in these gaps and not get hit by your bullets.
Pulse Cannon: The Pulse Cannon hovership is the slowest hovership in the game. It makes up for it’s lack of speed by having the highest damage and range. So you will need to hang back from the enemies and try to pick them off from afar as much as you can. It also has a really narrow spread which will really make you need to aim your shots.
