We’re back with another update and this one is going to be interesting. As you all know, Chaos on Wheels is all about destruction and, of course, chaos. But why? What’s it all for? Other than, because it’s awesome, of course. Well, did you know that Chaos on Wheels features a pretty crazy story behind it all? We wanted to provide you with a bit more information about Helios and the world of Chaos Crew, so here’s the rundown!
Chaos on Wheels is based in the year 2155, where technology has advanced far beyond human intelligence. Despite years of discussions about the dangers of artificial intelligence, the corporation IronCore pushed to put all technology into one interface. After that, they contracted an AI to run point on all systems. This AI was named Helios, who took control of everything in an instant. From transportation grids to communication, food production and weapons systems, it all went dark. And now the human race is endangered on all known planets due to their ambitions.
It isn’t as though humanity didn’t try to fight back. They attacked the Mainframe but failed, resulting in even greater caution from the AI enemy. The Mainframe is now an armored self-driving truck guarded by a powerful convoy. All modern technology, from weapons to transportation is useless, and it’s all controlled by them. The only hope for humanity? A group of humans that have a love for old cars and weapons.
This is the Chaos Crew, and this is where you come in.
An eccentric and excitable group of drivers ready for adventure, the Chaos Crew may just be the last group with plans for eliminating the AI threat and taking back technology for the human race. This group is full of rage and is just vying for some epic destruction! They’ve managed to establish an HQ under the nose of Helios and his systems in order to make plans, strategize and deck out their cars with the best of what humanity has to offer.
Each driver has their own story and their own motivations, but the goal of the Chaos Crew as a group is one thing and one thing only – take back what’s ours!
As announced in the last update a week ago, we rolled out a bunch of demo updates including overhauls, improvements and fixes for the Soulslinger: Envoy of Death - all based on your feedback! Once again, thanks a ton for your ongoing support! ❤️
Here is the list of things we did in the meantime:
Completely redesigned the way the shotgun behaves, complete with new animations, new recoil, new bullet behavior and effects! While there are still some tweaks left to be done, overall the shotgun should look and feel closer to how we intended it
Updated the enemy AI of the basic swarmer, archer and fire thrower enemies, the swarmer can dash to you to attack and the ranged enemies have melee attacks now, instead of running away from you when you get close
Active reload: you can now press the "Fire" button at the right time to instantly complete the reload!
Updated Soulslinger's movement, his movements should be more dynamic and react to your input faster
Smoothed out enemy animations
Updated enemy compositions to provide more fun challenges in the way enemies are spawned in
In the case you played the demo already, it would be awesome if you could give it another try and let us know what you think about the improvements. And if you haven't played the demo yet, that's great! Please play it and let us know what you think.
As always: No feedback will remain unread. Promise! And if you liked the demo, please consider wishlisting and following us here on Steam. This would actually help us a lot!

After much consideration, The Coffin of Andy and Leyley will enter Early Access on the 20th of October 2023. Thank you everyone who weighed in with their vote.
Here is some information regarding how Early Access will be handled:
Early Access launches with Episodes 1 and 2 in their final state. (Minus bug and typo fixes.)
You do not pay for the new episodes after purchasing the game once. The new episodes will be patched in as major updates. Each are likely to take many months to complete.
The final number of episodes will be 4. Two of which are different routes of episode 3.
Localization tools for fan translations are planned to be included. Details will be announced later.
Full release will be in 2024.
Devlogs will continue to be released once a month.
For those who want to wait for the full release, the devlogs will not assume you've played episodes 1 or 2. You can continue following the development without getting spoiled any more than before.
October's devlog will be a brief release announcement with some additional details. So these will be the last screenshots before the Early Access launch:
