See you in battle!

Furnaces System:

– Soft-launched the new materials processing system which lets you to create metallurgic materials and reheat meals using the player-built furnaces, which require remaining demanded temperature using appropriate fuel; this change expands the crafting gameplay to make it more interesting and increase its’ variety
– Introduced 4 tiers of the player-built workstations: Campfire (replaces the previous Campfire which was a standard workshop), Bloomery, Furnace, Metallurgic Furnace – they vary with min/max temperature value and available recipes
– Added recipes of new furnaces – Campfire is learned by creating a character, Bloomery and Furnace can be bought from a Merchant vendor in the capital city and Metallurgic Furnace can be bought from the Quartermasters of Lord’s Wrath Abbey, Lordly Haven and Hordun Temple
– Added 7 skins for Campfire (lowest tier of workstations), including a Halloween skin: Berserker's Night
– Added 3 skins for Metallurgic Furnace, including a Halloween skin: Hell Furnace

Furnaces FAQ:

1. Does it matter where the furnaces are placed?
No, they can be placed anywhere, except from the castles/towns areas, and have the same efficiency everywhere.
2. Do the furnaces despawn?
No, they do not despawn.
3. Can other players destroy my furnace?
Yes, it is possible at the moment. However, we will be gathering your feedback regard this matter in the nearest days, so it may change in future.
4. Can other players loot materials from my furnace?
Yes, it is possible at the moment. However, we will be gathering your feedback regard this matter in the nearest days, so it may change in future.
5. What will happen to recipes which can now be crafted both with the standard crafting and furnaces?
The recipes which can now be crafted with furnaces are temporarily left in the standard crafting, because we decided to soft-launch the furnaces system until it’s polished enough. However, they are expected to be finally removed from the standard crafting within about a week.
6. Why there are recipes like "rotten food"?
It is a visual bug which appeared while removing the unnecessary recipes and will be hotfixed soon.

Recipes update:

Updated numerous recipes, adjusting them due to the introduction of player-built workstations for processing materials, and removing various unnecessary materials and recipes in order to clarify the crafting processes – the removed recipes will still be visible in the crafting window for about a week. These changes are done to make the crafting more accessible and improve the user experience
– Removed the Graphite Dust and its’ recipe, assuming that grinding Graphite into dust is done when crafting further items; each player received 1 piece of Graphite in exchange for each 8 owned pieces of Graphite Dust
– Removed the Quartz Sand and its’ recipe, assuming that grinding Quartz into sand is done when crafting further items; each player received 8 pieces of Quartz Crystal in exchange for each owned piece of Quartz Sand
– Removed unused material and recipe: Soda
– Removed unused material and recipe: Glazier mix
– Removed recipes of melting the iron/steel scraps – from now on these processes will be available directly in the lump/bar recipes, as alternative materials

Metallurgy Processes Update:

Due to a soft launch of the player-built workstations (furnaces) in which you can melt iron ore into metal, the metallurgy recipes have been updated. They are still temporary possible to create with the standard crafting, until we are sure that the workstations system is polished enough. List of changes:
– Updated the amount of fuel in recipes available at furnaces: Iron Lump, Doped Lump of Iron, Steel Bar, Dziwer Bar, Bulat Bar, meals reheating, meat roasting, Quicklime, Quartz Glass, Chamotte

– From now on, weapons of the lowest tier are crafted using raw Limonite instead of Iron Lumps

Gameplay:

– Added a new world event designed for up 2 parties (max 1 per nation) of 5 players – it can be started by delivering map fragments in port area of each capital city; in order to enter the event, you have to be in a party of required size and join the event through an invitation pop-up window; the 5-players party mechanic was added to expand the content where players numbers are equal and no nation can outnumber the other one; also, thanks to this system each nation has equal access to this event, regardless of the current control over locations in the world

Hello warriors!

We’re now working on a Halloween content update, which will introduce a new world event and unique items to obtain! It’s aimed to be introduced this week, hopefully along with other huge changes which we’re working on at the moment: the crafting update and player-built crafting workshops! But we also wished to address the recent Community request. On this occasion, we just applied a bonus update which improves the world PVP balance!

There are changes done to the Links/Fast Travel system and a bonus incentivizing new players to join the least populated nation. There are also several gameplay and graphics improvements, which we’ve done in between of working on the upcoming update. Check out today’s changes and stay tuned for the huge update coming this week!

See you in battle!

Changelog v.0.8.6.13

– Updated the Links/Fast Travel system – from now on, you can only move to locations which are “native” to your nation and are connected to your capital; Fast Travel is limited: for Midlanders up to Rodrock Fort and Greenport, for Ismirs to Tenebrok and Ulfgard and for Sangmarians to Scarsdale and Seaclaw; also, Midlanders and Ismirs can move to Lord’s Wrath Abbey, Midlanders and Sangmarians to Lordly Haven and Ismirs and Sangmarians to Hordun Temple; this change is done to reduce the occurence of the dominating nation moving all around the map using the Fast Travel system, making the other nations unable to recapture their territories
– Introduced an Experience buff for new characters created in the underpopulated nation (one which had 33% less active players over the last month than any other faction) which gives 30% higher experience gain for the first 24 hours actually spent in-game with such character; this buff has been added to incentivize new players to join the least populated nations, level up quicker and support their nation; as for now, it has been applied to the Sangmar Empire, which at the moment has both the lowest amount of active players and the least new characters created in the recent time, the buff will remain applied to the Sangmar Empire until the balance is stabilized and, if needed, applied to any underpopulated faction in future
– Further server-side optimization improvements
– Started improved the smoothness of the humanoid NPCs and environment models appearing on the player’s screen, especially in the capital towns – there are still remaining issues related to it but we’ll be working on removing them in the nearest days, so hopefully most of such cases will be solved on the next regular update
– Further improvements to the building models in Baalhammon – Level of Details display ranges and texturing
– Improved the feathers visuals in the Praetorian's Helm’s skins
– Added displaying the exemplary, representative equipment sets for each nation in the first step of the character creation
– Fixed refreshing the animations of another player’s character after they removed an item from the character’s body, i.e. after removing a bow the character would still be displayed shooting arrows
– FIxed an issue causing that randomizing the character’s name in the character creation window caused changing the selected equipment

Hello warriors!

We caught a breath after showcasing Gloria Victis at Poznan Game Arena last weekend, and got back to work with doubled powers! New update, filled with many improvements and fixes, just hit the servers. We adjusted the flags balance in the “Valley of Death” tournament, as well did several AI improvements. There are also further optimization changes, both client- and server-side. Moreover, we’d like to give you an insight at our current work, and what you can expect in the very next updates!

Work in Progress

First of all, we’re continuously working on optimizing both the client and servers to provide you as smooth gameplay as possible. We’re doing progress each week, and it wouldn’t be possible without all the data we collected over the last two weeks, after the recent population boom. On this occasion, we’d like to thank all the active players once again!

On the other hand – Halloween is coming! As every year, you can expect some new epic stuff, including unique items to obtain. Also, there will be a brand new world event, telling a thrilling story of greed, slavery and sea wolves. It will come with a new, unique-themed location too, so stay tuned!

We are finishing a major crafting update! It’s aimed to improve the crafting gameplay in order to make it more attractive. There will be a new type of workshops for refining materials, where you put resources and set a production queue. Once it’s set, the production goes on, so you won’t have to stay at a workshop to process resources into materials. This change will make the Gloria Victis' realistic and in-depth crafting system more accessible for new players. Also, with this change, you will receive the possibility to build your own processing workshop in the world!

See you in battle!

Changelog v.0.8.6.12

– Several client- and server-side optimization improvements
– Optimized the Sangmarian capital city location (client-side optimization)
– Improved the “Valley of Death” PVP tournament points balance – until now the amount of points generated by a central flag was so high that a nation which captured it had almost a certain win, as it’s hard to recapture it; from now on, the side flags generate more points: holding 2 minor flags is as beneficial as holding the central one, so in order to win, a nation will have to even slightly engage in fights over the minor flags too; this change is done to allow every nation to have a chance to win a tournament, even if it wasn’t the first to capture the central flag
– Disabled attacking the storehouses’ doors in guild locations controlled by the same nation
– From now on, most of the animals and some of the world bosses monsters can’t be staggered
– From now on, some of the monsters and animals can’t be stunned
– From now on, attacking NPC enemies with a shield bash increases their aggro on the attacking player
– Improved the NPC guards placement in the “River Outpost” world event to make more space to walk through it for players
– Added “Lack of space in the container” notification displayed when a player tries to drag an item directly to an inventory/deposit bag which is full
– From now on, NPCs are looking at players near them
– From now on, sprinting into an unarmed idle NPC causes displaying an NPC animation of being struck
– Improved interacting with levers in quests and events

Fixes:

– Fixed an issue causing that some gates in guild locations couldn’t be attacked when it should be possible
– Fixed positions of some quests in the Ismirean starting questline
– Fixed an issue allowing to loot the NPC/container drop multiple times
– Fixed an issue allowing to instantly unequip an item by dragging it from body directly to the inventory bag
– Fixed an issue allowing to put items from the Trade window into hotbar slots
– Several minor fixes to displaying items in various windows

Hello warriors!

New update is live! As usual, there’s a lot of gameplay and server-side optimization improvements, bugfixes and balance tweaks. We expanded the softlock consequences in order to help the native communities to stand a chance on the lower-populated servers. We also addressed a long-commited request – we restored the former Azebian helms! They were turned into skins, and every player who had them in the inventory received according skins for free, and one of them can be obtained by completing the second stage of the Sangmarian quests.

See you in battle!

Changelog v.0.8.6.11

Gameplay:

– Further server-side optimization improvements
– Improved displaying the players standing behind objects – issues causing that players were not visible while standing on top of the wall should be less frequent now; there may still be remaining edge case issues, so if you would encounter them, please report them in-game
– DIsabled looting players when playing on other server than the chosen main one, in order to help the native communities to stand a chance on the lower-populated servers
– Restored 10 former Azebian helmets and turbans as skins to Veles’ Light Helm, Veles’ Heavy Helm and Legionary’s Heavy Helm
– All players who had these helms/turbans in their inventory before, have received free skins using these models and have each of these helms/turbans replaced with a base item for just-added skins
– Added “Nomad’s Turban” as a reward for “Stop the invaders!” Sangmarian quest
– Updated prices of some items available from NPC vendors
– Removed the [City] prefix from the names of items purchased from the Glory vendors
– Increased the top-tier tools durability by 60% in response to the Community feedback
– Updated the Master's Axe’s durability – it’s now the same as for other top-tier tools
– Updated the torch’s durability – due to a bug it had the swords-like durability, so it was reduced
– Added possibility to heal other players using the “Simple Compress”
– Added displaying icons of available new quests from the starting questlines on the map

Fixes:

– Fixed an issue causing that browsing items in the Market window used to bug the entire window for specific languages
– Fixed an issue causing that bandaging other players wasn’t properly canceled if the target player moved too far away, despite the fact that the progress bar was disappearing
– Fixed an issue with “Santa Smokes” buff
– Fixed an issue with NPCs navigation inside the gatehouses in upgradable locations

Hello warriors!

We’ve just applied a hotfix addressing reported bugs in quests, and moved [SEA] Dukla server to a stronger machine. But that’s not all!

New Glory season

Let us welcome you to the new Glory season! The top players of the just ended season have earned their rewards and titles, so time to compete the others and fight your way to the top of the ladder! A little explanation for the new players: Glory is a season-based ranking which rewards you for activity in the faction v faction v faction PVP. The seasons last 2 months and are rewarded with unique titles, as well as gold. Also, every Thursday night you’ll get Contribution Points – an in-game currency used to purchase special items from the Glory Quartermasters. The amount of earned CP depends on your position in the leaderboard, so climb up it!

Sale summary

We would like to officially thank all the newcomers and those who welcomed them and helped to get their first steps in the Gloria Victis world!

We actually expected it to be just another sale but the results were overwhelming. We can’t express how awesome experience it was for our entire team to see such a huge influx of new players, and doubling the CCU numbers in just a week! The world has been filled with intense fights all day and night, we have got a new high score for the tournaments population (so we had to eventually limit the numbers!) and gathered tons of the performance data. Having them, we’ll be able to optimize many systems in order to improve both server– and client-side performance, which will be our priority in the following days. You can expect to see the first performance update within a week or two! For this reason, there will be a "PerformanceTest" server appearing from time to time. It’s a test server and some stuff might not work properly here, so if you are a new player who just wants to check our game for the first time, better use normal servers. If you would like to help us testing performance though, just jump here and mess around. Thanks in advance!

Everyone who has been playing over this week, no matter if being a new player or veteran, helped Gloria Victis to grow so much. Congratulations to everyone from our entire team, we love you guys! <3

Devlogs behind the scenes

And a little bonus: we recently started a 100 Days Against All Odds Challenge. It’s a Behind the Scenes devlog series where we’ll talk about the most memorable moments of Gloria Victis development, what our job looks like and what difficulties we’ve overcome so far to get where we are today. Hope you’ll like it!

Hello warriors!

Last week we updated the guild castles, and now it’s time to enhance the Territory Control buffs! From this update, it’ll be way easier for a nation pushed back to regain the buffs gained for controlled locations. Yet, if your goal is to prove your power, you will still be rewarded for going deep into the enemy lands. Read the details below!

We’d also like to let you know how amazing it is for us to see such influx of new players! We’re really happy to see you all in game, so we just increased the max servers capacity so you’ll be able to join the big battles which are surely going to happen over weekend.

Also, we’d like to announce that a new Glory season will start on Monday, October 1st! This means that you have last few days to climb up the ladder of the current season and get precious rewards and titles!

See you in battle!

Changelog v.0.8.6.9

– Update of the buffs for controlled locations – from now on, you get the max buffs effects when your nation controls about 30% of the nation flags, though there is also a slight bonus for capturing an enemy non-loot fort (Dundrum, Ystad, Eaglenest); this change was made in order to make it easier for a dominated nation to stand the enemies on their native server, yet still giving some rewards for outplaying the other faction
– Introduced a max cap of the “Valley of Death” PVP tournament participants – up to 30 players per nation; we applied this change in order to increase the overall servers’ capacity right now
– Added visual notification about the current durability of equipped items
– Updated the items’ durability balance – we increased the durability of the top items to make them more valuable, and on the other hand we reduce the shields durability more or less, since due to our data they were barely needing to be repaired, causing inflation in the market and damaging the in-game economy; since it's so huge rebalance, we repaired all your items to the initial durability value
– Added confirmation window on purchasing items from the Glory Vendor
– Improved the Market window browser
– Increased the Storehouse’s door respawn time up to 5 minutes
– Improved the server-and client collisions in the Storehouse model
– Increased max stack value of the “Sign Crafted Item” up to 9999
– Improved some of the helm’s skins descriptions

– Further Improvements to the quests placed on links between each nation
– Fixed an issue allowing to repeatedly take rewards for already completed achievements category
– Fixed an issue causing displaying quality state on stackable items, such as materials and recipes

Hello warriors!

This time we focused on various gameplay improvements and fixes to reported bugs. There are also balance tweaks to recently introduced workers system and upgrading locations.

See you in battle!

Changelog v.0.8.6.8f1

Gameplay:

– Improved the upgrading view in Norfolk and Lublin forts
– Updated the balance of resources collected by workers – increased chances to collect higher-tier materials, such as coal, saffron, magnetite) and reduced the amount of collected limonite
– From now on, you should be able to attack all storehouses located in guild provinces
– Removed unnecessary server-side collisions which were present in place of the guild-controlled storehouses – these collisions were causing snapping the player back
– Removed Leaktown from the list of siege event locations since it was recently turned into guild castle
– Simplified upgrading the low-level fortifications by removing nails from level 2 upgrades – they are now only used in level 3, and level 2 walls require only logs and planks; this change was made because right now most castles are upgraded only to the palisade level, giving very little in terms of defence possibilities
– Simplified the nails production process – now they need Iron Lump instead of steel
– Added new quest stages in the end of Midlandic and Ismirean starting quests to make it easier to return to the capital city and follow the further quests
– Reduced the respawn time of Midland Militia in the Ismirean starting questline from 10 down to 2 minutes
– Improved the slave hunters’ waypoints in “The Cohort Strikes Back” event placed between Rodrock Fort and Tenebrok

Fixes:

– Fixed an issue allowing to stack the Moonshine buff 5 times and added a separate buff for Strong Moonshine

Hello warriors!

After taking a close look to your feedback and data we were gathering, we have done many awesome changes and upgrades on how Gloria Victis open world PvP looks like!

First of all: we have changed Twinfall and Leaktown into guild castles, also we have introduces two new, much smaller guild forts – Lublin and Norfolk – to fight for, creating some space for smaller guilds.

We have also introduced a new workers system! From now on, alive workers in guild-controlled locations will produce resources over time which can be taken by a guild ruling given province, or with force by enemies.

Also, as we believe that there are players willing to leveling their characters through PvP we have increased exp gained by fighting with your enemies both on open PvP and arenas.

See you in battle!

Changelog v.0.8.6.8

Open PvP upgrade:

– Introduced the Soft Lock system which asks player to choose main server which can be changed freely once per week; when player is not playing on his main server, he won’t receive bonuses from flags controlled by his nation and he can’t loot the workers chests; if it will be needed, this system will be expanded
– Introduced workers system in guild-controlled locations – workers are gathering resources and storing them in the upgradable storehouse which guild members can freely take, or other nation users can take by force (destroying the storehouse door first); these doors can be destroyed and looted anytime, but outside of the server’s primetime (starts 9h before the server's 1st tournament and ends 2h after the last one), resources are collected 3x slower; also, killing enemy workers slows down collecting resources in given location and if there’s no worker alive, no resources are being collected (they have 1 hour-long respawn); supply chests can’t be looted from players who set different main server; it’s the first iteration of making the central part of the world more alive and interesting outside of the State of War time
– Workers are spawned by upgrading the resource nodes (farms, lumbermills and mines) in guild locations – each location increases the amount of workers and the last upgrade spawns a worker which is placed inside the walls so can't be killed freely
– Changed Twinfall and Leaktown into Guild Castles
– Introduced two new small guild forts: Lublin and Norfolk
– Twice increased the experience gained from Open World PvP, Duel Arenas and introduced 0.25% of that experience for kills in the training Arena
– Improvements to the AI pulling algorithm to make it harder to take castles overnight
– Adjusted the guild province Token price – now it’s set to 3 gold

Quality of Life changes/fixes:

– Introduced new model of the Champions Heavy Helmet and added 5 skins available for it.
– Rebalanced rewards for completing the starting quests (players will end with about 5 times more money and higher level than before)
– Introduced ability to freely change the chat color on your own
– Updated changing color of the guild Coat of Arms and done some minor UI improvements.
– From now on, you can see the quality of items in the Market window
