Rec Room - lucian
TLDR

  • We’ve fully moved to the upgraded bean and added a few changes and options to make the experience closer to that of the classic bean.
  • Drivable vehicles are now available in Rooms 2!
  • Custom locomotion updates, new chips, and more!

Rooms 2

  • Start your engines, drivable vehicles are now available in Rooms 2! Find the Rally Buggy, Classic Coupe, Wolf Ride, and Trusty Pickup Truck in the MakerPen palette.
  • The new Particle VFX Constant and Play Particle VFX At Position nodes allow you to play a particle effect using Circuits! You can even create your own custom Particle VFX in Rec Room Studio and then use those effects with Particle VFX Constant.
  • Added a set of chips to attach objects to player avatars. This enables costume functionality in Rooms 2!
  • Added missing chip descriptions for Rooms 2 chips.
  • Share Camera polaroids can be printed in Rooms 2 rooms.
  • Audio values can now be set for object properties directly from the config panel.

Avatars

  • Beans now locomote smoother (they’re less bouncy).
  • The bean avatar head has been moved forward by 4cm to replicate the old bean look.
  • Idles stand more up-straight. The hip/body moves around a bit rather than being "land-locked" producing less leaning/bending.
  • Hands are animating again when idle (this goes for full body as well!)
  • Suggested items in the Avatar Customization menu now include popular items made by our community.
  • Added a fix for the mouthbrows!
  • Added a fix for eye gleam on bean avatars.

Circuits

  • Circuits Messages have been delivered! They're an alternative to Events that are much easier to reuse across rooms and inventions. They're as flexible as the "Generic Room" event is, but with a LOT less boilerplate circuitry needed to filter actions and fetch parameters. Let us know what you think of them in the Discord or Creator Forum!
  • Custom Locomotion updates:
    • Input events are now available in the global scope, e.g. On Locomotion Sprint Button Input.
    • Added local player variants of locomotion state events, e.g. On Local Player Jumped.
  • Added the "Rec Room Object Try Get Property" chip to beta. This chip combines Rec Room Object Has Property and Rec Room Object Get Property - it outputs both a bool for whether or not the property exists on the given object and the value of the property itself. If the property does not exist, it outputs a default value set by one of the chip's inputs.
  • Added the “Find and avoid Edge” and “Find and avoid Obstacle” chips. These will have some more detail in the comments on the creator forum if you wanna know more about how to use them!
  • Fixed a bug that could cause the 'Audio Player Set Time Stamp' chip to break when used without an active audio clip.

General Improvements & Bug Fixes

  • The Maker Pen now only blocks custom locomotion when you're flying, making it easier to mix creation and play!
  • Fixed a bug where disabling jump input while flying would leave you trapped in the air.
  • Dropping the maker pen will now make you stop flying so you can get right back into the action.
  • Weapons with configurable object damage now have a default object damage value equivalent to their default player torso damage value.
  • MakerAI Day Pass redemption fixes.

We hold an event : Mimic harvest festival:) (UTC 2025, June 6th ~ 12th)

During the period, you can enter a special dungeon (where only Mimics spawn) once in a day.

- That dungeon may not appear if you open the game directly on steam version. In that case, it will appear by starting the game from the Steam app.
- Mimic ... A rare monster in this game. He may drop a chest. He usually spawns in normal dungeons except for the boss dungeon in a very low possibility.

We created Dandelion Void because it is a game we wanted to play. Now that we have revealed it on Steam, we are floored to discover that it is a game you want to play. To say we are blown away by the response is an understatement...

Wishlisting our game is the most important way you can help us on our journey to release. It is more than just a marketing metric, it is the wind we needed in our sails to continue taking this project seriously. The interest is there for Dandelion Void, and we are in a good place to execute on our next milestones!

Questions

In addition to the outpouring of support and excitement, we have also received so many great questions. Some of these we can answer today. For the rest, we appreciate your patience while we facilitate our ongoing Steam Wishlist reveal and consult among ourselves.

Who is the team behind Dandelion Void?

We are Manzanita Interactive, a worker-owned and operated game studio based in sunny Southern California. Our team consists of four member-owners with over 30 years of combined games-industry experience. Prior to working with each other at Manzanita Interactive, we met as worker-organizers fighting for union representation in our industry. We look forward to sharing more about our team in future blog posts!

Will there be a story?

While Dandelion Void is not a traditional, narrative game, we believe rich lore can breath life into our world and reward exploration. We'll say more on this as development progresses.

How do I become a tester?

Right now, we are relying on our existing testers to run private playtests. Applications for future playtests will be announced first on our Discord. We want your feedback, but right now the best way to help us is by wishlisting our game, staying up-to-date in our Discord, and telling your friends about Dandelion Void!

Will Dandelion Void have multiplayer or cooperative play?

Our goal is to launch Dandelion Void into Early Access with solid single player experience. We love the idea of having multiplayer support for Dandelion Void in the future, but it’s not something we are focusing on at the moment. We will clarify whether or not multiplayer support is on the roadmap before going into Early Access.

Will modding support be available in Early Access?

Some form of it, yes. Dandelion Void is a highly modifiable game, and it's our goal to release to modders the tools we are using to develop it. But like everything else, we plan to test our modding tools with modders before publicly releasing them.

Will feature xyz be added?

If I could send a note back in time to ourselves before we revealed our Steam Wishlist page, it would be this:

We have an internal roadmap, but it's full of spoilers, ideas we want to explore privately before revealing, and is in a format that needs tidying up. Once this roadmap is out, we believe it will clarify many of your questions... and perhaps inspire a few new fun ones!

We are not ready to announce that, yet!

What language localizations will you support?

We are currently translating our Steam store page into multiple languages. We plan to release Dandelion Void in as many languages as possible, but there is no firm count yet.

  • Added more fast travel locations to the overworld.

  • Fixed the collision of many meshes so that the player companion no longer passes through into the void.

Froggies at the Zoo - its fly
Another mini game has been added to Froggies at the Zoo! This time you can practice your food throwing abilities. Head on down to the extra bits section to try it out. Got one more mini game to be added in when it's finished and then it'll be three extra levels afterwards.
