Greetings Soldiers!

We have a new update for you guys today!

We are happy to announce that our DOM (Attack/Defend) game mode has been revamped. Players will have to carefully plan out their attack route as there are no longer respawns in this game mode. We are still fine-tuning this mode so let us know what you guys think!

Also, snap turn and jump are enabled for Oculus users now (for real this time)!

There have been some balance changes and fixes. The player models also have updated movement animations.

As always we are continually trying to fine-tune our game and listening to your feedback! Please let us know what you guys think and keep sending the constructive feedback and ideas our way.

Here’s the full list of updates below.

Game Settings:
  • Attack/Defend mode
    • Adjusted so that players no longer respawn, and the round will end when the enemy team has been eliminated
    • Adjusted so that victory conditions have been changed from “destroy all targets” ---> “destroy any target”
    • Game time has been reduced to 3 minutes per round
    • Players who join mid round will not spawn until the next round
    • UI window for selecting weapons is now shown at the beginning of each round

  • BOTs
    • Bots may now be added to DOM games
    • Bots are now able to throw grenades

Oculus Rift:
  • Snap turn support added: push right/left controller's(if you set you as righty/lefty) thumbstick to right or left to do make snap turn
  • Jumping now mapped on controller: press button A/X if you set you as righty/lefty

Maps:
  • New map “Library”



    • Will support Team Deathmatch game mode

  • Train Factory
    • Attack/Defend mode: Bombsites have been reduced from 3 → 2 for better balancing

  • Abandoned Factory
    • Adjusted the route in Team Deathmatch game mode.

Weapons:
  • Helmets are now throwable!

  • Smoke Grenade may now be carried in the ‘backpack’
  • Knifes now have physics and will interact with the environment (map objects)

Balance Changes:
  • Grenades
    • Are now limited to 2 per player per respawn (grenades do not stack, and players will not have more than 2 per life)
  • Sniper Rifles
    • Sniper rifle damage has been adjusted for headshots. It only takes one shot to the head regardless if the enemy player has a helmet on or not.
  • Movement
    • Players now run slightly faster when empty handed or are holding light weapons (ex: pistols, grenades, bombs - Attack/Defend)

Other
  • Improved animation for all player movements

We have a quick update for you guys today from the Front Defense: Heroes Dev team!

As some of you have asked for we have finally implemented snap turning! Tap right or left on the touchpad to use the function.

We have also added the ability for players to put helmets back on that have been knocked off (or take them off).

Balance Changes:
  • Helmets are now an object within the game - Players may take off or put helmets that have fallen off back on.
  • Snap turning has been added - Tap left or right on the touchpad to snap turn
  • Adjusted formula for calculating score
    • Penalties will be given for teamkills or suicides (negative score)
    • Adjusted points for killing BOTs
  • Adjusted the behavior of BOTs (made them a bit tougher).

Maps:
  • High Castle
    • Adjusted the route in Attack/defense game mode

Greetings Soldiers!



We have quite the update for you guys today from the Front Defense: Heroes Dev team!

Charge up the shoreline with your teammates on our new beach themed map. Also tired of the default allied and axis look? We have just added in 5 new skins for each side, pick your favorite and go into battle!

New weapons have also been added into the game which includes both smoke grenades and knives.

Game Settings:
  • Customized Skins
    -Players can now change the look of their in-game soldier during the lobby or at the main menu

  • Games will no longer close after the host leaves. A new host will be designated after the host leaves the game.

Maps:

    -Will support both Team Deathmatch and Attack/Defend game modes

    -Safety pin has been removed and replaced with a historically accurate string pull of the m24 grenade

    -Players can now hear the sounds of grenades or bayonets when they hit the ground or houses

  • Fixed a bug that cause bayonets can still hurt players even though they have been dropped.
  • Corrected the collider shape of helmets
  • Corrected the colliders of Beach Invasion map

Greetings Soldiers!

We have a quick update for you guys today! Mostly quality of life changes and some changes to the UI/options menu. The next patch will be a big one so make sure to keep an eye out for that! As always, we appreciate all the feedback that we receive and want to make the best game possible for you guys!

Game settings
  • Players can now change maps from the lobby
  • Updated the UI for picking maps in the main menu
  • Players can now join an Attack/Defense lobby after the game has started

Game Update
  • Game Mode: Added Attack/Defense mode for additional maps: Castle on the hill
  • Added player animation when players are hit
  • Explosive weapons including grenades, rockets and mines will now cause damage to anyone who stands within their effective range

Upcoming Update

  • Automatically transferring to a new host when host leaves the game (previously – whole lobby would close)

05/30/2018 hotfix
  • Corrected the move speed of v-move mode to match the speed of smooth locomotion
  • Fixed an issue that caused players to start shaking when hit by enemy bullets.
  • Fixed an issue respawn issue that allowed multiple players to respawn on the same spot in Free-For-All mode.

Minor balance update from the Front Defense: Heroes Dev Team

We have been collecting feedback from the past couple weeks have have added a few tweaks to how two-handed weapons work and also added the bolt action feature for the sniper rifle.

Please let us know what you think and what you would like to see in the game!

Game Settings

Game setting for picking up weapons have been removed the default setting for all players will now be with the grip buttons.

Game Modes

Free For All
  • Adjusted the calculation for FFA points and how the winner is determined.
  • Added game mode for additional maps:
    • Church Graveyard
    • Night Crossroad.

Balance Changes
  • Sniper Rifle
    • Changed reloading mechanism from button press to physically pull the bolt
      back.
  • Adjusted two-handed weapon balance and gameplay.
  • Adjusted the range when throwing grenades, players can now throw them further.

  • Other bugs fixes.

Hi all,

We now offically support the WMR headsets with SteamVR please check the instructions below if you have issues setting up your device.

1. Make sure your PC is compatible with WMR you can check here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/mixed-reality/enthusiast-guide/windows-mixed-reality-minimum-pc-hardware-compatibility-guidelines

2. Make sure Windows 10 is up-to-date. You can check here to see how to update windows: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4027667/windows-update-windows-10

3. Make sure your graphics card driver is up-to-date.

4. Make sure SteamVR is installed.

5. Install WMR for SteamVR via Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/719950/Windows_Mixed_Reality_for_SteamVR/

6. Run WMR for SteamVR and setup the boundary.

7. Pair WMR controllers via WMR for SteamVR (by clicking the icon with 3 dots).

8. Run Front Defense: Heroes

Troubleshooting:
1. You may need to activate Windows developer mode if you can’t run WMR for SteamVR normally, here is the link on how to activate it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayo4pefuYAY

2. You may need to use an external Bluetooth dongle if your controllers do not work properly, see the Bluetooth best practice documentation here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/mixed-reality/enthusiast-guide/troubleshooting-windows-mixed-reality#bluetooth-best-practices

3. Your WMR HMD should be plugged into USB 3.0 port while your external Bluetooth dongle need to be plugged into USB 2.0 port.

4. If you activated Windows developer mode, make sure you turn off the simulation for headphone and controllers in the developer options in WMR for SteamVR.

Smooth Locomotion Has Arrived!

The wait is finally over - smooth locomotion has been implemented into the game!

This means that you will be able to play Front Defense Heroes running about in the game - guns blazing, bombs exploding, bullets whizzing past you - just as if you were on an actual battlefield!

We want to thank you for giving us your feedback on how important smooth locomotion is to you and for being patient with us while we worked hard to implement the feature amidst others.

Please tell us what you think of it and keep your constructive feedback and ideas coming. Also, look out for more updates soon as we have quite a lot of cool new features coming up!

  • Game Settings
    We have revamped the game settings and it is now its own tab different from where you can select your Height, in-game name, movement style, Health bar settings and also added a section to allow users to change their graphic settings

    -Locomotion - Smooth/free locomotion (Please take a rest or break if you feel dizzy or uncomfortable or select our Mixed or V-move options)

    We found that with the additional of locomotion into our game that some of the guns needed to be balanced. We wanted there to be a variety of play styles and for all the weapon classes to feel unique.

  • -Sniper Rifles/Carbines
    With the additional of locomotion we have lowered the hip fire (1 handed) accuracy of the sniper rifles. Players will have to hold the gun with both hands to steady their aim and fire accurately.

-Control changes - In the next patch we will be removing the trigger option in the game settings menu and will be using the grip option as our default.
