War Thunder - magazine2

Andrea Doria is one of the two dreadnought battleships constructed for the Regia Marina in the early 1910s and represents an improved version of the preceding Conte di Cavour class. Seasoned Italian captains in War Thunder may look forward to commanding the powerful Andrea Doria as it docks in player ports with the arrival of the next major update!

Briefly: A WWI-era Italian dreadnought battleship, sporting superb firepower and protection.

Andrea Doria, Battleship, Italy, Rank V

Features:
  • 13 12-inch guns
  • Strong armor
  • Multiple auxiliary guns
  • Mediocre mobility

In War Thunder, Andrea Doria will be a new battleship arriving to the top ranks of the Italian naval tree following the release of the next major update Drone Age. Being the second battleship to join the ranks of the Regia Marina in the game, Andrea Doria will, among other improvements, most notably bring with it a substantial upgrade in firepower over the preceding Dante Alighieri - an upgrade that many captains will surely appreciate.

Similar to the familiar Dante Alighieri, Andrea Doria is primarily armed with 305 mm (12’’) guns. However, not only does the latter possess one additional primary battery gun, but their layout is vastly different than that found on Dante Alighieri. Namely, the guns on the Andrea Doria are split between three triple and two twin turrets, giving the ship a rather unique gun layout when it comes to naval vessels in War Thunder. However, the differences don’t stop there. Andrea Doria also features a vastly improved secondary battery. Unlike Dante Alighieri, its successor packs up to 16 152 mm (6’’) cannons, situated in casemates above the ship’s main belt armor on either side.

Additionally, Andrea Doria’s secondary weapons are complemented by 13 76 mm (3’’) cannons as well as two submerged 450 mm torpedo launchers. Crucially however, Andrea Doria’s anti-aircraft arsenal also saw an improvement over Dante Alighieri. Namely, the ship is fitted with an additional six 76 mm AA guns as well as a pair of automatic 40 mm anti-aircraft cannons. While this will by no means enable Andrea Doria to take down entire waves of attacking enemy aircraft single-handedly, it does improve its self-defense capabilities drastically.

In terms of armor protection, Andrea Doria features some similarities to the preceding Dante Alighieri in this regard. In fact, the warship is fitted with a 250 mm belt armor - identical to its predecessor. However, the plating on the turret fronts, for instance, is increased up to 280 mm. This slightly improved armor scheme coupled with a greatly increased complement of 1,260 sailors and officers makes the Andrea Doria a quite tough opponent to take down, regardless of the circumstances.

However, as is the case with many battleships of this type, Andrea Doria can’t boast about its mobility. With its propulsion system generating around 34,000 horsepower, the vessel can reach a top speed of just 21 kts (40 km/h). As a result, captains will need to be mindful of their maneuvering and keep in mind that evasive actions aren’t as easily performed by this ironclad as it may be the case with a cruiser.

The highly anticipated Andrea Doria is soon docking in players’ ports with the release of the Drone Age update coming soon to War Thunder. In the meantime, be sure to keep scanning the horizon for more news as we continue sharing the latest on what the upcoming update has in store for you. Until then, calm seas and happy hunting captains!
Techtonica - JoeyFHG
Greetings Groundbreakers!

Today, we have some exciting news to share concerning the Techtonica Alpha, the launch of a Techtonica demo, and our participation in an upcoming Steam celebration.

Grab your M.O.L.E.s. Let’s dig in!

The Techtonica Alpha will wrap on September 19th.

We launched the Techtonica Alpha to the first wave of Alpha Groundbreakers on July 19th, 2022, with the goal of collecting player feedback, particularly regarding areas that need improvement. The Alpha delivered for us. We gathered a ton of useful feedback, for both immediate and long-term implementation, about user experience, performance, and more.

The best news from the Alpha, though, is that Groundbreakers have been having fun. Techtonica’s core gameplay is enjoyable, and we’ve seen players take what was supposed to be a 10-20 hour Alpha and stretch it well beyond 100 hours as they developed and fine-tuned their factories below the surface of Calyx.

There was another surprise with the Alpha, though. We’ve had a huge influx of fans who want to play, even more than we’d hoped for when we launched. We want to give everyone who has been waiting patiently a chance to play, so we’re changing tactics and switching from a closed, invite-only approach to an entirely open demo that everyone can play.

That’s right… once the Techtonica Alpha wraps, our open demo goes live!

The Techtonica demo will launch on September 20th!

Once the Techtonica Alpha wraps and keys are rescinded, we will launch the Techtonica demo for free on Steam. Access to the demo will be public, and everyone will be able to download, play, share content, and provide feedback.

The demo will be a little different from what folks played during the Alpha.

First, the demo will include several performance updates that should make the game run better for those with mid-range hardware. The demo will also include some user experience enhancements identified by our community during the Alpha.

Second, the demo will be shorter than the Alpha. The demo will be played by a larger range of people, and we want them to experience the satisfying exploration, terrain destruction, and factory building mechanics in Techtonica a little bit quicker, so we’re reducing some of the requirements for advancement in the demo.

Players will hit a wall on the Tech Tree, but they will be able to keep playing and exploring without a time limit. They can also restart the demo, should they want to run through the limited pool of upgrades again.

Third, the demo will feature voice acting. One of the things we’re most excited about for Techtonica is its narrative. Part of that narrative includes voice talent, and some voice work will be on display in the demo.

Techtonica will be a part of Steam Next Fest in October.

The final bit of news we have to share today is that Techtonica will be part of Steam’s Next Fest in October.

Next Fest is a special, limited-time event that Steam puts on to showcase upcoming games that feature playable demos. It’s a great opportunity for players to play and Wishlist a bunch of upcoming games, and we’d love your support for Techtonica during this event.

Steam Next Fest runs from October 3rd to October 10th, so be sure to download and play the Techtonica demo, add the game to your Wishlist, and share it with your friends!

That’s it for now, Groundbreakers. See you all on Calyx soon!

Kynseed - Sludgebridge
Hello Seedlings!

We've heard your cries from our Castle turrets and we are ready to catapult out some tidings with a tease of the Achievement system! As it stands, Kynseed has a total of 70 possible Achievements to unlock. That should keep the village quiet for a good while!

Whilst we are still ironing out the creases of the final achievement UI, we wanted to show you a little taste of what's to come. So take a look below at the 6 we have plucked fresh from the game!

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀        Absolute Beginners: Learn a skill from a master.
Skills are something you gain from the various Goddess-blessed Masters dotted around Quill. Fulfil each Master's requirements to gain valuable techniques for Cooking, Fishing, Melee and Ranged Combat, Gardening and more!

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀   In Good Graces: Make an offering to the Goddesses.
Each Goddess Day (days 7 and 14 of each season) you can make offerings at any Goddess Statue to gain handy boons, but also jinxes from the other jealous Goddesses! Work out what would benefit you that week and strategically plan ahead.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Allergy Season: Discover a Flower Bloom!
Events can be random or on the calendar, so keep an eye out as you wander the land. Events such as the Flower Bloom can be a great way to gather resources, if you can discover when and where they occur.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀      You're Special: Specialise your shop.
After levelling up your shop Rep a bit, you will eventually unlock Specialisations from the Gnome Tinker of Tir Na Nog. With these, you can change how your shop looks and stock certain items, gaining more Rep while also unlocking new Perks to enhance your businesses.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀   It was Fete: Win a village competition.
Each haven has an annual competition you can take part in. You will receive an invite in your mailbox, and the day is marked in your calendar. On the competition date, go see the Events Master and bring your best produce for great prizes and Rep gains.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The Tough Get Going: Clear Toughwood after travelling as deep as you can.
Toughwood is the nastiest place in southern Quill. Once your are fully prepped, enter this dark forest and head deeper until the 10th level. The monsters are much tougher but the rewards are far greater!

And that's it for this weeks showcase. Short, but sweet. A bit like the villagers of Mellowfields.

Check back next Wednesday for another sneak peak into the development cauldron. Don't forget we have another QnA post on Monday too. We'll see you then, friends!

A quick hotfix for users reporting that the game became unplayable after attempting to load a saved game. These fixes should hopefully clear that issue up, but please don't hesitate to reach out to me via Discord, Twitter or support email if you're still encountering issues!

Added:

- System that detects a save with a completed board more consistently.
- Improved handling of saves that start in the Constellation map and don't have a board loaded yet.
- Changed how the Constellation map generates points to (hopefully) reduce instances of two linked points with no other connections.

Bug Fixes

- Fixed an issue where the board wouldn't appear if the game was exited during the transition to the constellation map.
- Fixed a similar issue where the board would load in all blank tiles if the game was exited during the transition out of the constellation map.
