Howdy partners, last update of 2014. I'd like to wish you a happy new year!

Added:
- scoreboard badges: developers, contributors, league players and more...
- golden gun skins: these are awarded to certain players during a limited amount of time, weapon stats do not change.
- team amount selection in local game creation menu

Changed:
- Teamplay and Elimination game modes are compatible now, meaning that fof_ maps can be played along tp_ levels (by either mixing them in mapcycle_tp.txt or using changelevel command)
- Elimination: round starts with a equipment selection stage as Teamplay, weapon drops follow fof_sv_weapon_drop rules
- MOTD crash related check have been toned down, hoping it doesn't throw more false positives

Balanced:
- coachgun: slightly more accurate while standing still, full damage range slightly increased. Price dropped -5
- Kick + Boots: -2 notoriety (kick without boots perk still receives 12 notoriety points)
- bow: +1 notoriety

Fixed:
- Elimination game mode: standoff not triggered properly, bots attacking unarmed players, players opening last weapon crate may not get selected for standoff
- fof_winterlong: a few exploits, thanks to Furdabip for letting us know


FoF Competitive League News and Awards!

Season 2 finished past weekend and Y3*YO*Y3 got the final victory against Reverse Gaming. The final took 2 hours along 3 maps and both teams fought hard till the end. In case you missed it, here's the whole match. Head over here for all the rankings and more info.

I'd like to reward all participants in season 2 with a scoreboard badge that indicates their final position (1st, 2nd or 3rd) or just that they played the whole season. Also, winners get the new golden gun skins during the whole January month! Thanks to Coco for compiling the necessary information to make this possible.

And finally, I remind you that Season 3 registration is open, go to the FoFCL group for details.

This release adds the ability to play as several other factions and improves point defense functionality, in addition to fixing lots of bugs.

As usual please report bugs and offer suggestions via the steam or anisoptera community forum!

* Allow playing as 6 factions previously reserved for the AI (destroy a large ship from each faction to unlock that faction).
* Allow launcher weapons (missiles, drones), directional weapons (blast pulser), and charging weapons (burst laser, plasma mortar) to be used as point defense. Discourage point defense weapons from all targeting the same incoming missile.
* Add more save slots to insure that # save slots > # playable factions
* Fix weapon binding screen glitch where buttons would not line up with ship, and improve intro animation
* Allow agent fleets to spawn child chips
* Generator blocks now explode dramatically when destroyed. All non-hull blocks have a chance to produce an explosion when destroyed
* Numerous stat and ship tweaks to newly playable factions
* fix bug where changing player colors would not recolor some nearby allied ships
* wide lasers now honor width when colliding
* AI will now preferentially select player ships when spawning new ships, and regenerating a new world via the wormhole will use player ships/stations when available
* improve load/generate progress bar animation
* fix bug where agent missiles would damage agents after traveling through a large number of wormholes
* fix save file corruption due to NaN position issue, eliminate several instances where player position would get set to NaN (resulting in sudden black screen).
* recolor agents that have very similar colors to the player
* Improve color scheme generation from player selected colors
* add progress bar when reinterfacing
* improve linux and osx crash handling
* fix memory leak when loading save game
* show halos around large missiles and drones, making them more visible
* fix double-free crash bug when generating a new game

Dog Sled Saga - Trichotomy
There was a small technical update to Dog Sled Saga today - here are the changes:
  • Updated libGDX framework, which has added some Nvidia Optimus related fixes
  • Improved shader error logging and compatibility
If you've set up any workarounds to force a certain graphics device, please return everything to default settings. If this new build helps any of you with crashes on startup that you've experienced, let us know in this thread!

Dog Sled Saga - Trichotomy
There was a small technical update to Dog Sled Saga today - here are the changes:
  • Updated libGDX framework, which has added some Nvidia Optimus related fixes
  • Improved shader error logging and compatibility
If you've set up any workarounds to force a certain graphics device, please return everything to default settings. If this new build helps any of you with crashes on startup that you've experienced, let us know in this thread!
