In the next update for our Hornet, we are making some changes to rockets and cluster bombs:

1- Rockets pods can now be set to Single (S) release setting in the Mission Editor, via the additional properties tab in the loadout window. Note that on the SMS page, S denotes single release and R denotes ripple release. This is different than the SMS page Single (one pod fires at a time) and Salvo (all pods fire at the same time) settings.

2- CBU-99 and Mk-20 cluster bombs can now have their MFUZ set to VT. Once set to VT, the HT (height) setting allows variable canister burst altitude. CBU-99 and Mk-20 are basically the same weapon, just different dispensers (same number of MK118 MOD 0 bomblets). CBU-99 uses the SUU-75/B dispenser and the Mk-20 uses the SUU-76B/B dispenser.

DCS World Open Beta to Release
This week we made the big step of updating the release, “stable” version of DCS World from our current DCS World Open Beta version. Not only does this bring all modules to the release version of DCS World (like the Hornet and Persian Gulf Map), but it also integrates many fixes and updates that have been addressed in the Open Beta over the past several weeks. The first version of the video memory manager is presented, which will purge the video memory when the video memory budget allocated by Windows is reached. The resources that were not used in the last 10 seconds are first to be purged.

New OFFLINE mode is now implemented. User can turn on OFFLINE mode that allows the game to be used without internet identification and without a time limit. Note: user must turn off OFFLINE mode on the same PC. OFFLINE mode cannot be turned off from another PC even with the same user's login.

We are adding two, new airbases to the Persian Gulf Map – Shiraz International Airport (330 nm to Al Dhafra) and Kerman International Airport (380 nm to Al Dhafra). Both airfields have military ramps and facilities.

With the addition of these two airfields, it makes the Persian Gulf map about the same size as the Caucasus map (measured as distance between airfields). Both new bases provide many parking locations to support large missions (large and small aircraft). We think having these two large bases far inland will provide many more mission possibilities for both single- and multi-player.

Today, we have a few work-in-progress images around Kerman International Airport.

Once these are complete, we plan to add additional airfields and landmarks across the map.

These bases will serve as ideal home to many DCS World aircraft like the F-5E, Flaming Cliffs 3 Su-25 and MiG-29, Mi-8MTV2, and UH-1H. Get these and many other modules at 50% off until 5 July 2018 at:

DCS World Steam Edition - NineLine
We are at the point now that we are quite happy with the vaps coming of the Hornet LEX. So, we are now shifting our effect focus to the over-wing vaps. These are less commonly seen than LEX and wingtip vaps, and only really happen in very humid conditions (particularly at low altitude near/over the water). Today we have a very early look at these. As with the LEX vaps, these will be tuned and improved.

As mentioned, humidity plays a huge factor in the generation of vaps coming off the aircraft… wingtips, LEX, over-wing, and even the Mach cone (yes, planned for later). To model this properly, our current efforts to improve the weather system of DCS World current lays with adding a new humidity function.

This week we released another update to the Open Beta, with the primary focus being the Hornet and DCS World 2.5 foundation improvements. Once we are confident in the stability of the Hornet and the DCS World Open Beta, we will move both of these, and the Persian Gulf Map, to the release version of DCS World and DCS World Steam Edition.

DCS: M-2000C: Red Flag Campaign by Baltic Dragon



The M-2000C Red Flag Campaign is a story-driven campaign that takes place during an extraordinary Red Flag exercise at the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR). The campaign backstory revolves around growing hostilities between Iran and its neighbors and a partially successful coup that takes place in the United Arab Emirates, effectively splitting the country in two.

You will take on the role of a deputy commander of a 10-ship strong detachment of M-2000C interceptors from the 02.005 Fighter Squadron "Île-de-France". In preparation for war in the Persian Gulf, your detachment, and those from the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Poland and the Netherlands, will spend two weeks at the NTTR to hone your skills.
All of the missions are based on extensive research of actual Red Flag exercises and will each include interesting facts and stories from previous runnings of the exercise.

Hey everyone,

In addition to the nice update this week, the team is working furiously on many other items to get the Hornet foundation solid by the end of the month. Here are some items already resolved internally that will be pushed soon to an update:

  • Unable to select AG weapons after first selecting AIM-7.
  • Canister munitions (MK-20 and CBU-99) are now much more accurate. Note that you’ll need to set the MFUZ to VT. You can then set a Height Of Burst (HOB) using the HT function on the SMS page.
  • Overwing vaps have been added, but need to be tuned!
  • Time to lock for the ACM modes is much faster now.
  • You can now disconnect from the shuttle.
  • Adjusted flaps control bindings for TM HOTAS as a special item.
  • Support for export of DDIs.
  • Course offset distance is now displayed above the CRS value on the HSI.
  • New VFA-122 skin.
  • RWR threat ring logic changed, critical threat inside ring.
  • AC buses now isolated when when engine started without parking brake set.
LOTS of other work going on with the radar, EW system, and other items.
