Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap is now available on Steam.
This long-running series is back with thrilling third-person combat, more barbaric traps, deeper progression systems, spectacular physics, and expanded map variety. Play any way you like from solo or up to 4 player co-op. And we didn’t forget the most important aspect of all, unapologetic gut-spilling carnage against all orcs!
And make no mistake, the excitement doesn’t end here. We released another blog just prior to this explaining all our immediate post-release plans we can share for now!
Players, welcome to the latest update for Dustland! This patch brings improvements, fixes, and balance adjustments to make your journey through the grim wastelands more enjoyable. Let’s take a look at the key changes!
IMPROVEMENTS (NEW)
A new room has been added to the Shelter where you can learn about most of the game mechanics.
You can now take shelter indoors during storms.
Invulnerability has been added for players after they spawn on the map. You will now be invulnerable until you take an action or until the invulnerability timer runs out.
The order in which quests become available has been changed. Lesley now first offers the tutorial quest on how to use the elevator, and only after completing it will the other quests, including the main story quest, become available.
Quests can now affect where you will spawn on the map. This aims to provide smoother immersion and improve gameplay. This mechanic has been applied to quests such as Dustland: Introduction and Elevator Operation Check.
FINE-TUNING
Updated the Artifacts window.
Updated the logic of monster states. This is an important step in improving them, with more improvements to follow. In this patch, monsters’ behavior will be more stable, and it will be easier to escape from them.
In the Shelter, the passageways to the Mystical Room and Ammar’s Room have been widened.
The quest system has been refactored aiming to ensure more reliable performance and address issues with rare server crashes and save file corruption.
Fixed the location of player spawn points, placing some of them farther from monsters spawn points.
Updated the sounds for the Draynes.
Added sounds for syringe usage.
Added missing parkour sounds.
Added sounds for jumping and landing with weapons.
Added a sound when completing a quest stage.
Added a sound for using the gate in the Shelter and in the Tutorial.
Added sound effects for opening and closing the quick access panel.
Added a sound for opening burial urns.
Added a sound for using consumables.
The Connecting to the server screen has been replaced with the standard loading screen.
Quick access slots now show item quantity.
Most button tooltips now adapt to the assigned functions of the buttons.
Added visual effects to bring more life to the map.
The F1 button tooltip has been moved under the container widget.
Updated effect icons.
A note has been added to all quests that do not place markers on the map.
Added a sound for revealing a part of the painting.
BUG FIXES
Fixed a bug where completed quests and quests abandoned by the player would not be returned to the quest pool.
Fixed a bug where it was sometimes impossible to interact with the backpack of a killed player or the Wanderer.
Fixed a bug where movement sounds were not heard when holding a revolver.
Fixed a bug where the character would jump when switching from running to crouching, which happened if movement speed exceeded the default speed.
Fixed a bug where ??? monsters could get stuck in an infinite loop of the same animation.
Fixed a bug where Oscar monsters could slide along the ground while attacking or disappear.
Changed the location of some Oscar monster spawn points and fixed a bug that caused them to appear on top of the pipes at the airport.
Fixed a bug that prevented the animation for using a consumable when holding an axe.
Fixed a bug that prevented the recovery of the normal movement speed immediately after the character was no longer encumbered.
Fixed a bug that caused the interaction widget to remain on the screen after interacting with an NPC.
Temporarily disabled The Meeting Place Cannot Be Changed quest.
Fixed some visual bugs on the map.
Fixed some collision issues on the map.
Fixed a bug that prevented the book from being taken away from the player during the Comrade Lesley quest.
Fixed a bug that caused the character to slide along the ground when holding down the Space key.
Improved NPC performance in the Shelter by optimizing their code.
Fixed a bug that allowed squads of more than four people.
Fixed a bug that allowed two different types of poison ammo to exist in the game.
Fixed a Russian localization error in the Can Anyone Hear Us? quest.
BALANCE CHANGES Scorpion speed reduced from 600 to 500. Scorpion hearing range reduced from 10,000 to 5,000.
