Totally Accurate Battle Simulator

Totally Accurate Battle Simulator's newest update is out this week and adds the Renaissance faction along with a related new map, campaign, and lots of new units. 

The Renaissance faction's home map is a Venetian-looking courtyard of tall, colorful buildings with a canal along the edge. Perfect for dunking enemy units in, I imagine. Along with its new 32-level campaign campaign, the Renaissance update brings seven new standard units:

  • Halberd
  • Fencer
  • Musketeer
  • Balloon Archer
  • Painter
  • Jouster
  • Da Vinci Tank (Boss Unit)

The update also adds two secret units, Lady Red Jade and the Ballooneer. Despite being a secret unit, the Ballooneer actually appears in the campaign, while Lady Red Jade is a bit tougher to find and unlock.

The boss unit for the Renaissance faction is somehow wilder than a unit that drags foes into the sky with a hot air balloon backpack. The Da Vinci tank is a circus-tent shaped powerhouse that spins and unleashes cannonballs on enemies. Though once it spins up, the metal flaps that allow cannon fire out also might allow projectiles in. According to the TABS wiki, this may also result in unintended friendly fire. Deploy advanced weaponry with caution, then.

Next up on the TABS roadmap is the Pirate faction which Landfall says will include "a new map, seven units and maybe some secrets!"

  • Fixed issue where the Da Vinci Tank wouldn’t show any UI when possessed.
  • Fixed spelling error on campaign mission “Triple moon formation”.

Thank you for your patience while we've been fixing these bugs and for reporting them to us!



Fixes:
  • Improved pathfinding on Ancient sandbox and moved a fence that blocked the paths
  • Fixed the ghost stones on Tribal sandbox
  • Cavalry can now be controlled
  • The colour of the Cavalry horse should now change correctly when affected by ice
  • The Chu ko nu Bolts can now be reflected
  • The helmet of the Hoplite will now be the right colour
  • Fixed the camera being upside down for Mac players

Changes:
  • The crossbow model of the Chu Ko Nu is now more accurate to the real ones used in that period

Thank you for reporting the bugs from the last update, here's a small patch to address some of them. More patches coming next week to address the hoplite helmet bug and others.

Fixes:
  • Taekwando's kicks do damage again
  • The hole in the dynasty map is now empty again
  • The horse gets affected by ice-units
  • Stone throwers throw rocks again

Battle and campaign creator is live, thank you for helping us test it in beta and providing valuable feedback. There are already almost 10 000 campaigns and battles to choose from!

- Improved the pathfinding on Ancient Sandbox and Medieval Lvl2
- Improved the aim of the Bone mage’s spell at close range.
- The accidental Cavalry knight unit is hidden but still available in saved battles and campaigns

- Slightly decreased the health points of the monk

To access the beta right click on the game in the library and press properties, then navigate to the beta tab and select "public_beta" in the dropdown. You may have to restart steam if the game does not start downloading the beta.

  • Added the Cavalry Knight unit again after removing it by mistake
  • Fixed issue with sorting order when sorting by popularity in workshop browser

The Battle and Campaign creator beta just went live!


Please restart steam and then right click the game in your library and choose: Properties - Betas - Public_Beta (no code needed)

Create your own battles in the sandbox!


Save the battle, set a budget and upload it to the workshop!


You can also use your battles to create and share your own campaign.


Download other's campaigns and battles under the workshop tab in the main menu.


We accidentally added a test-unit for the cavalry, it's not meant to be a unit but we will make a similar one for anyone who uses it in their campaign/level that will be added in the full update. The real Cavalry unit will come in a future update but not the next one!

Hello everyone! We know you’re excited for the next update but unfortunately, we’ve been having some issues with our engine that have made it impossible for us to deliver the 0.4 update up to the same standards as we want to in June.

Therefore we’re not going live with the update this week BUT we are going to open up the Battle and Campaign creator on a beta branch for everyone early next week with the hope of doing the full update soon.
