Halloween Update



Halloween has arrived at Golf It and brings new hats, skins and trails. All the sweet treats are also available in our Editor. This is just a small content patch, since we are working hard on our next theme.

As we are getting close to Update 0.7, we would like to give to you some insights into its content.





You can see two small parts of our new map, which is built in our new theme. The theme comes with 300+ new assets to allow map creators to build structures and buildings like the temple you just saw. More preview GIFs will get posted in our Discord soon.

Lanes, Pipes and more



Lanes, Pipes and FX

This update contains several new lane pieces, which are perfect for small structures and compatible to our standard lanes (With special thanks to AlienYuNO). Besides that, we've added new connectors for ambitious pipe systems and lots of FX.

Skins, Hats and Trails

Furthermore, we added fancy ice cream hats, cozy fur skins and multiple flag trails.



What's coming next

We made good progress on our next official map. Asset wise the theme is complete, so we can put everything together at full throttle. We are going to stream our mapping-making progress soon, so you will be able to provide feedback. The stream will be announced on our Discord. Other planned features:

Engine Update

Finally, we had the chance to update our engine to Unreal Engine 4.19. Updating to a newer version enables a bunch of new techniques and performance improvements, which will contribute to our next updates. Performing such a huge update – we actually skipped 3 major versions - takes a lot of time, which results in a smaller changelog this time.

Persistent Lobbies

The first positive impact of 4.19 is, that we’ve finally managed to implement persistent lobbies. This allows you to stay in a lobby with all your buddies after finishing a map.

What's comming next

The new theme we are working on for several month is almost asset complete, which means that we are currently putting everything together into an official map. We still can't provide any estimation about the release date. Other planned features:

Represent your Team in Golf It!



Country Flags

For each team perticipating the soccer world cup we've implemented a flag. Flags will drop like other uncommon items and can be equiped as trail.

We've made several small patches and hotfixes since 0.5.4. Here is a short overview, in case you've missed it:

- User Experience

Our usability efforts slowly bear fruit, as we continue to improve the UI & UX. This time we've strongly enhanced the "How To Play" section, by adding 36 video tutorials made by TheStreamLife. Another 20+ new tutorials will be added soon. Thanks again Zach for doing an awesome job.

- Custom Sounds

If custom music isn't enough you can now add custom sounds. They could be used like sound effects and also be modified by the Eventsystem.

- Golfball Settings

Once again we've enhanced our Eventsystem by enabling the access to golfball settings. When your golfball triggers an event its physics now can get altered, strokes can be added or your clubs can get changed.

Skins and more, in Golf It!



Skins

You can now change the skin of your golf ball - as soon as you got a new one. Skins are legendary items, thus the rarest. If you aren't lucky enough, don't despair, we've also implemented an item exchange system (inside the customization menu) for redundant or unused items. You can easily scrap them to get coins, which can then be used to buy new items.



As you can see, some skins will still interact with the color you've chosen.

Unlimited Players

Allowing only 8 players to join a lobby was designed as a softcap to prevent network issues. The underlying codebase, however, is build up completely dynamic. Therefore we've decided to remove the cap and implement a "private" mode instead, to ensure that only your friends can join, without entering a password.

User Interface

In order to increase the usability of Golf It we've finally started to improve our UI. This update includes a revamp of our "Host Game" UI, which improves the overview over your subscribed maps and provides additional options to sort them. Furthermore we've added a new UI for excahnging items and slightly improved the "Search Game" UI.

What's coming next

We're working on a new theme for quite a while now, which consums a lot of time, since we are creating assets which are already optimized for our editor. We can't provide any estimation about the release date, but it's going to be huge. We've already created more than 200 unique assets, which will allow to build more beautiful and complex scenes.

Here is another small update for Golf It!

Main Updates

We've finally added an Undo / Redo feature to our Editor. It works with all assets and almost every gameplay mechanic. It should make our editor easier to use and way more forgiving. Furthermore we've added an AddRotation function to the Eventsystem, which makes rotating objects more dynamic. Last but not least we've fixed some annoying bugs.

Here it is, another huge update for Golf It!



Gravitationzones

A feature we've eagerly awaited since release is to change the gravitation based on zones.



We're providing two different gravitation zones - a sphere and a cube. The cube will set the gravitation into a given direction. The sphere will set the gravitation in its center. If you set the gravity to 0 you will be in zero G and able to shoot in all directions.

Custom Music and Sounds

We know you are utterly in love with our music - especially on graveyard. But in case you wanna create a specific mood on your custom map you can now import your own ogg music. You're designing a forest themed map? You may wanna import some atmospherical bird chirping. Suddenly the player gets teleported to a beautiful beach? You can use our eventsystem to change the music to whatever you want.

Eventsystem Enhancement

We're really happy about the success of our eventsystem. There are already tons of use cases uploaded to the Workshop, which show us your inexhaustible creativity. Our goal is to restrict it as little as possible, therefore we are constantly extending the eventsystem.



With this update the eventsystem gains control over some interesting map settings, for instance a dynamic day and night cycle. Besides the time of day you can change the theme of an asset, the background music or even the gravity.

Winter has come to Golf it! and brings special Hats, Trails and Editor Items with it. For this update we've put our focus on improving the Editor and the overall game experience.



Editor Update

You don't wanna play these static maps any longer? We are happy to introduce the Eventsystem - one of the greatest features for the editor we've released so far!



The Eventsystem allows to create more dynamic maps than ever before. When a player enters or leaves an event zone dozens of actions can get triggered, which will affect lanes, meshes, rotators, lights, boosts, teleporter and so on.



We have also added Forcefields to the editor, which can be used as magnets, gravitiy zones and much more.



We are more than excited to see your dynamic map creations.

Game Refactoring

One of our major concerns is to optimize features which are already in place. This time we've completely redesigned our golf ball mechanics, to make our gameplay more smooth and pleasant, but still being as skilled-based as before.

Another complete overhaul happend to our particle system, which means that we have heavily improved every single trail. So you may need to test every trail again to redefine your favorite one.
