These containers provide an opportunity to get Premium and researchable ships with the two new permanent camouflage patterns; expendable camouflages; doubloons; signal flags, and Free XP.

The "Historical" permanent camouflage displays the exteriors of Ark Royal, Cossack, and Bismarck at the times when Unsinkable Sam, one of the most famous felines of World War II, "served" on them. A portrait of the mascot himself is proudly displayed on a permanent camouflage called "Unsinkable Sam!"

Each container includes:
  • 2x Hunter or Union Jack camouflage patterns, or 1,000 Coal
  • 100 doubloons, or one of the following special signals: Wyvern, Red Dragon, Ouroboros, or Hydra
  • 1,000 Free XP, or one of the following special signals: Scylla, Basilisk, Dragon, or Leviathan
The container may grant access to a special combat mission. The reward for completing the mission is one of Premium ship VI Ark Royal or Premium ship VIII Cossack, or the researchable battleship VIII Bismarck with all modules researched. The ships will be added to your account along with the two new permanent camouflage patterns (Unsinkable Sam and Historical), a Port slot, and a Commander with 3 skill points.

If you get a combat mission for a ship that you already have in your Port, you will receive compensation in credits equal to the cost of the ship. If you already have the Unsinkable Sam or Historical camouflages in your collection, you will receive compensation in the form of credits.
The combat missions of the chain can be completed only in the specified sequence: you can start the next Stage only after all the tasks of the previous Stage have been completed.
Final reward: permanent Unsinkable Sam camouflage for Bismarck.

Upon logging in to the game for the first time, you'll have 14 days to obtain up to 10 rewards, with one dropped per day. Thus, you can skip four days out of two weeks and still claim all the valuable rewards.

Visual and Audio Enhancements

Several maps and Ports have been updated to utilize the reworked lighting model. In Update 0.8.8, we've enhanced the following maps: Ocean, Big Race, North, Fault Line, Polar, and Islands, as well as the Philippines Port. The skies on these maps have been completely changed, too, in order to accommodate enhanced HDR technology that will add more contrast to the game’s graphics and create a more realistic look. Clouds drifting across the sky on the reworked maps will now cast shadows on the water’s surface, ships, and terrain. In forthcoming updates, we’re going to continue tweaking the game content to accommodate the new lighting system.
Apart from graphics, we've added enhancements to the audio system as well. In the new update, we’ve reworked the principles for sound reproduction:
  • Introduction of a system of priorities and restrictions affecting the reproduction of sounds.
  • Gunfire sounds have been "standardized," depending on the number of guns firing and their caliber.
  • Engines will now produce different sound patterns depending on their power.
  • New sounds and music have been added.
  • Ambient sounds have been enhanced.
  • Greater stability and the fixing of certain issues that affected the audio system’s performance.
This change will apply to all sounds in the game, which might make them seem unusual at first. We’ll continue to enhance the sounds and sound reproduction system in the game.

Armory

A new 25% discount coupon will be added to the Armory. This coupon can be applied to ships available for doubloons, and will work exactly like any other coupons in the game. Please note: you can use the coupon in the Armory only—it cannot be applied to any of the ships in the Tech Tree.

With the release of Update 0.8.8, Republic Tokens will be converted into credits at a rate of 1 : 12,000.

French Tokens and the Legion of Honor section of the Armory will be available until the release of Update 0.8.9. When Update 0.8.9 hits the servers, French Tokens will be converted to credits at a rate of 1 : 4,500.

New ships

British battleship X Thunderer—available for 252,000 Coal.
Essentially, X Thunderer is an alternative design of the post-war British battleship, Conqueror, equipped with 457 mm main battery guns. In World of Warships, this ship is placed at Tier X. Unlike her researchable “sister ship”, Thunderer boasts a larger caliber, greater damage and improved firing accuracy, combined with a shorter reload time, but fewer guns at her disposal. To add to that, Thunderer has a faster rudder shift time. The ship's Repair Party consumable is not as effective as that of Conqueror, but comes with one extra charge.

Key features
  • Eight 457 mm main guns with good accuracy, very high damage caused by their AP and HE shells, and a relatively fast reload time.
  • Decent speed and maneuverability compared to ships of her type and tier.
  • Her relatively weak armor protection is compensated for by lower detectability than her same-tier counterparts.
Players thoroughly enjoyed the 419 mm guns on Conqueror because of the high damage per minute that her HE shells could cause—a feature that perfectly matches the other operational capabilities of the ship. Instead of doing the same with the 457 mm guns, we've decided to mount them on Thunderer where these large-caliber guns will play a key role in shaping the ship's specific gameplay. For that reason, the 457 mm/45 Mk II guns will no longer be available on Conqueror. If you’ve already researched these guns, you’ll get 35,000 Free XP. If you’ve already purchased them, you'll get 2,500,000 credits. If you had those guns placed on the battleship, they will be replaced with the 419 mm/45 Mk II guns, even if you don't have them in your Inventory.

American battleship X Ohio—available for 62,000 Research Points.
X Ohio is a project of an American battleship, a further development of the ideas embodied in Georgia. The ship carries eight 457 mm guns and has a strong secondary battery. In World of Warships, Ohio is placed at Tier X.

Key features
  • Eight 457 mm guns that are capable of dealing significant damage with their AP shells.
  • Her powerful and accurate secondary armament makes her an effective fighter at short and medium ranges. Having applied the appropriate upgrades, Commander skills, and signal flags, the range of her secondary armament can be increased to 11.3 km.
  • The ship has decent armor, and anti-torpedo protection that reduces the damage from any torpedoes which hit the ship by 37%.
  • The Repair Party consumable has a shorter cooldown time (you can also obtain the enhanced version, which has a cooldown of just 40 seconds).

Content Additions and Changes

Camouflage patterns
VIII Bismarck, VIII Cossack, and VI Ark Royal had something in common: all of them were once the “place of duty” for Unsinkable Sam, one of the most famous seafaring mascots in history. Each of the ships gets two camouflage patterns: one historical, displaying the ships' exteriors as they were at the time when Sam “served” onboard each of them; the other depicting the legendary feline's portrait on the ships’ sides.

The camouflage patterns share the same features:
  • −3% to the ship's detectability range by sea
  • +4% to the dispersion of shells fired by the enemy at your ship
  • −10% to the cost of the ship's post-battle service
  • +50% XP per battle
All details on how to get the camouflages will appear on our website. You can access a video about the legendary cat via this link.
Ships
IX Mogador and X Kléber are now available to research.

The following Premium ships have been removed from the Tech Tree screen: VII Z-39, VII Scharnhorst, VI Warspite, VII Hood, VII Sims, VII Indianapolis, VIII Kidd, VIII Alabama, VI Mutsu, VII Ashitaka, VIII Asashio, V Okhotnik, V Oktyabrskaya Revolutsiya, VI Molotov, VII Leningrad, VI Dunkerque, VI De Grasse, and VI Huanghe. All these ships are now available for doubloons in the Armory.
The following Premium ships will appear in the Tech Tree screen: III Dreadnought, VIII Vanguard, VIII Massachusetts, VIII Lenin, and VI Aigle. These ships are also available in the Armory. By doing this, we reduce the number of ships in the Tech Tree, making it look neat and tidy in light of the user interface improvements that were introduced in Update 0.8.7.
Other Changes and Improvements

  • The context menu of the Port chat, available by right-clicking on a message, will now offer a new option: “Report violation in chat.”
  • Reworked the animation of the Service Record banner in the Port.
  • The animations of items in banners in the Port have been reworked, too.
  • Reworked the behavior of pop-up windows to prevent them from opening all at once.
  • Revised the descriptions of Commander skills, upgrades, and signals that could influence AA bursts, by removing all mentions of bursts in the medium-range AA zone.
  • The AA Defense Expert achievement can now be earned with all ship types. We’ve simplified the conditions for this achievement: to obtain it, players now just need to bring down 35 aircraft of any type.
  • The Liquidator achievement will no longer be available. But all previously earned achievements will remain on players' accounts.
  • Added towns on islands in the Crash Zone Alpha map.
  • Fixed a number of minor issues on the Estuary map. The issues related to collisions with objects and islands.
  • Fixed a number of minor issues in the Port of Dunkirk.
  • Fixed an issue which caused the engine-order telegraph to switch to the “Stop” position after setting waypoints for the autopilot for the first time in a battle.
  • Fixed an issue where X Montana, IX Saint-Louis, X Yoshino, and V New York were able to fire further than their viewing range.
  • Updated the pop-up hints for the description of Philippe Auboyneau’s talents.
  • Fixed an issue which prevented the end date for a discount for resetting Commander skills from being displayed.
  • After reaching Rank 1, players will no longer see the “Battle on!” button on the post-battle statistics screen.
  • Fixed the display of 25 mm triple AA guns when the Octopus, Rover, and Zaya camouflage patterns are applied.
  • Fixed an issue which, after navigating to the "Flags" tab, positioned the camera in such a way that it was impossible to view any flags hoisted on a ship.
  • Fixed an issue which caused a pop-up hint indicating the availability of a new ship in the Tech Tree to detach from that ship.
  • Fixed an issue which caused visual artifacts to appear on the Trap map while in Spectator mode.
  • III Vampire, VI New Mexico, and III Campbeltown: fixed an issue which caused a mismatch between the designation of armament in the Modules tab and its designation in the ships' listed performance characteristics.
  • V Furutaka: fixed an issue which caused the firing accuracy of Hull С’s guns to be inferior to the guns of Hulls A and B.
  • Fixed an issue which prevented a ship's autopilot from getting the ship back on course after a collision with an island.
  • Fixed an issue which didn't display fighter aircraft as a threat to an operating airborne squadron, or, alternatively, caused the threat to be displayed on the wrong side.
  • Added an option to view the Rating of Clans separately for each region.
  • In the WGC, a new feature—Generate a WGCheck report—is now available in the pop-up list of the game client launch options.

World of Warships - WoWs Admiral

Welcome aboard Friesland, Captain!

This ship became the lead ship of the second post-war series of destroyers in the Royal Netherlands Navy. She was officially classified as a submarine hunter (onderzeebootjager), but was so close to contemporary destroyers in terms of her specifications that both allies and potential opponents of the Netherlands used this designation. Friesland served in the Navy for more than 20 years and took part in a number of important diplomatic missions. Now you have the opportunity to take command of this famous ship!

History
After World War II, the Netherlands had to rebuild their Navy from scratch. In 1948, twelve Holland-class destroyers were ordered: six were to be finished by 1952 and six more—between 1953–1955. However, the country’s industry still hadn't recovered from the war and failed to complete the order. As a result, only four destroyers of this class were laid down between 1950–1951, and built by 1955. The engineers working on the ships were able to use some main power plants which had been produced for four pre-war destroyers in 1940, and which had sat unused gathering dust in storage during the German occupation. The eight ships that followed were built according to a modified project with another type of power plant. They became the Friesland-class destroyers. In the autumn of 1948, the Shipbuilding Bureau (Bureau Scheepsbouw) of the Naval Ministry developed an improved project—Submarine Hunter 1949.

Just like the preceding Holland class, the Friesland-class destroyers didn't carry any torpedoes. However, despite being similar on the outside, the new ships were faster and carried a more powerful armament. Foreign components and approaches were widely implemented—the main power plant was constructed by a U.S. license, their turbines were similar to those of the Gearing class, and all the artillery was developed by the Swedish company Bofors.

On December 17, 1951, the first ship of the new project was laid down at the NDSM shipyard in Amsterdam—HNLMS Friesland. She was commissioned on March 22, 1956. The new ship was named after the Netherlands province, Friesland. Just like same-class ships, the new destroyer became the Navy's work horse.

In July 1956, Friesland, together with cruiser HNLMS De Zeven Provinciën and destroyer HNLMS Zeeland, sailed off on an important diplomatic mission. It was the first time since 1914 that Dutch ships went on an official visit to Russia. The Netherlands delegation was to visit Leningrad.

For post-war Dutch sailors, the Soviet Union was no less mysterious than the New World for their forefathers. However, a cordial and solemn reception awaited the Netherlands ships, first in Kronstadt and then in Leningrad. The residents of Leningrad and the Dutch sailors quickly found a common language, albeit with the help of translators.

Having completed her diplomatic duty, Friesland set out to defend the interests of the Netherlands in the Caribbean, and especially in the Southeast Asia. The former Dutch colony Indonesia was contesting the ownership of the western part of New Guinea island, which was under the control of the Netherlands. Indonesia was preparing a military operation with technical support from the U.S.S.R., and because of the dispute, the Netherlands Navy was growing its presence in the region. In 1962, the situation escalated to combat engagements, and in the course of one of them, Dutch destroyers sank a torpedo boat. Friesland wasn't directly involved in any fire exchanges, but her presence disrupted an Indonesian attempt to land troops on Misool island near the western coast of New Guinea.

The remainder of Friesland’s service was uneventful. Between 1980–1982, seven of Friesland-class destroyers were decommissioned from the Dutch Navy and sold to Peru. This South American state bought seven out of eight destroyers, except for the lead ship. On June 29, 1979, Friesland was decommissioned and subsequently scrapped.

Modeling the Ship
During our work to bring Dutch destroyer Friesland to the game, we used historical photos such as blue prints. This would only have been possible with the help of The Netherlands Institute of Military History who kindly provided incredibly detailed photos of Friesland which helped us create historically accurate 3D models. We greatly appreciate all the help and assistance from our new Dutch friends, as without them we would have had great difficulty recreating Friesland to the quality and standards World of Warships is known for.

Friesland in Combat
IX Friesland is the lead ship of the second post-war series of destroyers in the Royal Netherlands Navy. In 1956, the ship made a formal visit to Leningrad, and in 1962, she took part in the West New Guinea dispute between the Netherlands and Indonesia. In World of Warships, this destroyer represents Europe and is placed at Tier IX. In contrast to other destroyers, Friesland doesn’t carry any torpedo armament. However, this is completely compensated for by her rapid-firing artillery, decent AA defenses, and a good choice of consumables.

Key features
  • Four main battery guns with a very high rate of fire (reload time of 1.8 seconds without upgrades mounted or Commander skills mastered), good shell ballistics, comfortable aiming angles, and a high traverse speed of the main turrets.
  • The AA defenses are additionally reinforced with the Defensive AA Fire consumable in a separate slot.
  • The Smoke Generator consumable with features that are characteristic of American destroyers: her smoke screens will last longer than 2 minutes. The Hydroacoustic Search consumable, which comes in a separate slot, will allow you to assuredly detect enemy ships at distances of up to 5 km, and enemy torpedoes—at 3.5 km.
  • The absence of torpedo armament is compensated for by a wide variety of consumables and efficient artillery.
  • Extra credits per battle, as well as 100% more XP and –20% to the cost of the ship's post-battle service are provided by her permanent camouflage.

Captains! We’re pleased to announce that the submarines Beta Test is set to start really soon!

We've already informed you about the first submarine branches in the game, as well as shared the details of the main game mechanics and future gameplay changes for other ship types. Today, we'd like to invite you to take part in the Beta Test, and present a new Waterline episode in which we'll tell you about the details of the Beta Test and discuss the most popular questions that have been raised since the announcement of submarines.

In order to participate, you’ll need to download a special test client via the Wargaming Game Center. We’ll send all related information regarding the installation, as well as login credentials and special feedback forms to the email address linked to your account. We'll also keep you informed about all updates, arrange a special stream, and tell you about the peculiarities of playing on submarines and how to counter them in a dedicated article. You need to have a linked email address to participate!
https://youtu.be/M8lISUdNErY
Are you interested in joining the test? Log in to the website and click on the 'Apply' button below.

Please note: invitations to the test server will be sent gradually to random groups of players. Eventually, we'll try to provide access to all players who have submitted an application. We hope that all interested players will be able to try out submarines during several test iterations!

Questions and Answers
We understand that videos are not every player’s preferred format, so we've duplicated the most popular questions and answers in text format. You’ll find them below:

What is the main purpose and game concept of submarines?
The in-game role of submarines will partly reflect their historical role. That is, first and foremost, about positioning, planning, waiting for the best moment to attack, and subsequently diving into the depths of the sea to escape retribution. From the right position, a submarine can cause turmoil in enemy lines, strike from an unexpected direction, disable a dangerous enemy, or divert the attention of destroyers towards herself, thereby allowing her allies to act much more freely.

Why do submarines have such high speeds?
Submarines have rarely been fast in reality, and often they have been significantly slower than other ship types. However, World of Warships is still a game, and it has certain conventions that make fights between our enormous steel monsters more dynamic and attractive. That's why, in our game, submarines have some of the same parameters as other ship types—making the game more vigorous and exciting, and also helping to integrate the new ship type comfortably into the game in consideration of its balance.

What are sonar pings and what are they needed for?
The Sonar Ping mechanics allow players to get deeply involved in battle and demonstrate their skill. They also represent what these vessels did in reality, albeit presented in a slightly exaggerated form.

In real life, an attack on a target took considerable time, and required complex calculations and careful target observation. At the same time, there were torpedoes with acoustic guidance, but they worked in a passive mode. Our mission is to create fascinating gameplay that includes all the tasks of a submarine crew. To do that, we've accepted some conventions by uniting two entities in one. In this way, we tried to turn the hard and painstaking work of submarine crews into fast and exciting gameplay.

How many submarines will we see in battles?
On the test server, no more than two or three submarines per team are planned; on the live server, their number might be decreased to one or two. This will allow us to keep the overall dynamics and advantage of surface warships, as well as present submarines as a ship type that adds diversity to the main gameplay.

Why doesn't the Hydroacoustic Search consumable detect submarines at the underwater level?
At the moment, this is a game convention that allows us to make the underwater level the safest zone for a submarine, where she will be able to avoid most kinds of damage and escape any enemies. However, there are still several test iterations ahead, and these in-game mechanics, as well as other mechanics related to submarines, can change.

Why is it that only destroyers can release depth charges?
It's their historical role. It was destroyers that tracked down and hunted submarines. Despite the fact that sometimes cruisers and battleships carried depth charges, they almost never actively hunted submarines. We're considering adding depth charges to some light cruisers, but it's too early to speak about such changes now.

Why are depth charges released automatically and what is zone activation needed for?
Destroyers already perform a wide variety of tasks in battle. By making the release of depth charges automatic, we are reducing the number of actions that the destroyer is required to perform, thereby saving valuable time that a player can spend on other tasks.

Moreover, we tested several variants where the player had to click once or several times to release a charge, as well as a variant where the release of charges happened upon activating a consumable. We didn’t find any significant advantages over automatic release, which is why we've chosen this variant.

Zone activation is part of the game mechanics for destroyers hunting submarines, displaying their approximate location.

How to fight against a submarine?
Although submarines have the best stealth parameters among all ship types and the possibility of going underwater, they still remain the most fragile ships and have just a small amount of medium-range torpedo armament. Moreover, if a submarine engages in active combat near you, you'll know at once. After she uses a sonar ping, her last location will be displayed on the Minimap. This will allow you to quickly catch the submarine due to her reverse speed being rather low. You can also force her underwater where she has to spend her oxygen supply and can't attack other ships. Submarines have a limited supply of oxygen which can only be replenished at the surface level, which is their most vulnerable position.

When you spot a submarine, attack her with HE shells. Their blast wave has the potential to affect her at a certain distance of impact and deal serious damage.

In future test iterations, other submarine countermeasures may be added.
Submarines pose a real challenge for the development team, but we are sure that with your support they will find their Captains and make battles even more interesting and enjoyable!

Brace yourselves for heated naval action in a new season of Ranked Sprint that will be fought with Tier VI ships in the Domination game mode. If you missed the previous seasons of Ranked Sprint and want to know more about it, our article is designed to answer your questions.

Key Rules ● Maps ● Rewards

Key Rules
This time, we have an action-packed season of a short duration, with Ranked Battles unfolding in Domination mode on Tier VI ships. What makes a Ranked Sprint different from regular seasons of Ranked Battles? An easier competition format and reduced duration. The Sprint lasts for 10 days only, and contains fewer ranks—half of them being irrevocable. It also takes fewer Stars to climb to the top ranks. Participation in the Ranked Sprint brings a lavish amount of signal flags; 500,000 credits—and 10,000 Coal for the Armory as a reward for attaining Rank 1.
Season starts: Thu. 05 Sep. 08:00 CEST (UTC+2)
Season ends: Sat. 14 Sep. 08:00 CEST (UTC+2)

Rules
  • All players with access to Ranked Battles in their Service Record are eligible for participation in Ranked Sprints. Beginners in World of Warships will have to play 130 battles in any of the available modes in order to gain access to them.
  • Only Tier VI ships are allowed.
  • Battles are fought in a 7 vs. 7 format. Team lineups are mirrored in terms of ship types.
  • Only one aircraft carrier per team is allowed.
  • By winning battles, players earn the Stars needed to climb the ranking ladder. For the majority of ranks, a defeat means a lost Star.
  • The player with the most base XP in a team doesn't lose a Star upon their team’s defeat.
  • The number of ranks is 10, which is less than in a regular season.
  • All players start battles at Rank 10.
  • Players receive a bonus star for each new rank attained.
  • Ranks 10, 9, 8, 5, and 3 are irrevocable. Players can't lose stars at Ranks 10 or 9.
  • This season, all ranks are combined into a single league.
  • Ranked Sprint achievements aren’t inherited from previous Ranked Battle seasons, and aren’t transferred to those that follow.
  • Stars earned in Ranked Sprints are not counted as the Stars required to be awarded Ranked Battle emblems.

Divisions
  • Divisions are allowed in Ranked Sprints.
  • The maximum number of players in a Division is two.
  • A Division can enter battle only if the opposing team also has a Division.
  • Each team can have a maximum of three Divisions.

Rank 1
  • Rank 1 is the highest achievable rank.
  • Players who attain Rank 1 can no longer participate in further battles of the current season.

Maps
Battles will be fought in Domination mode on the following maps: Archipelago, Ring, Big Race, New Dawn, and Trident.

Update 0.8.7.1 hits the live servers on September 4. With its arrival, European destroyer Friesland is entering the game, and the Armory is set to offer random bundles that can be obtained in exchange for Coal.
Due to the release of Update 0.8.7.1, cross-server matchmaking will not be available for Clan Battles on Wednesday, 4th September.

New Content
Meet destroyer IX Friesland—the newcomer to the European Tech Tree branch. In contrast to other destroyers, Friesland doesn’t carry any torpedo armament. However, this is completely compensated for by her rapid-firing artillery and a good choice of consumables.

Key features
  • Four main battery guns with a very high rate of fire (their reload time is 1.8 seconds without upgrades mounted or Commander skills mastered), very good shell ballistics, comfortable aiming angles, and a fast main turret traverse speed.
  • The AA defenses are additionally reinforced with the Defensive AA Fire consumable in a separate slot.
  • The Smoke Generator consumable with features characteristic of American destroyers: her smoke screens will last longer than 2 minutes. The Hydroacoustic Search consumable, which comes in a separate slot, will allow you to assuredly detect enemy ships at a distance of 5 km, and enemy torpedoes—at 3.5 km.
IX Friesland can be obtained in the game for 1,000,000 Free XP.

Random Bundles
Update 0.8.7.1 will give you a chance to exchange Coal for valuable rewards: credits, French Riviera camouflages, and special/economic signals.

The Legion of Honor section of the Armory will be complemented with random bundles that can be obtained in exchange for 3,000 Coal each.

Random bundles are an in-game exchange mechanic for obtaining items from the Armory. It functions in the following way:
  • All the rewards are visible in advance: the bundles’ contents and their amounts are displayed when viewing the currently available bundle.
  • After each exchange, one new random bundle opens out of 32 available.
  • Having collected all the bundles, you're guaranteed to have obtained all the available rewards.

Please note that these random bundles will cease to be available with the release of Update 0.8.9.

Bugs Fixed
  • Fixed a bug that caused the disappearance of the image on the cargo ship banner in the Port.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the Summer Season patch not to be displayed.

0.8.7 AA Changes – Credits Compensation
Commanders!
In Update 0.8.7 we changed the AA mechanics in our game. One of these changes made it so that only ships with long-range AA capabilities can make use of aerial explosions. Because of this, the "AA Guns Modification 1" upgrade has become ineffective on certain ships that don’t have a long-range AA defense zone.

Therefore, players will be compensated in the amount of 250,000 credits for each ship in their port which both does not have a long-range AA zone, and has the "AA Guns Modification 1" upgrade installed.

World of Warships - WoWs Admiral

World of Warships is the largest virtual shipyard in the world. The quality of work done by our artists improves each year, and the requirements for the accuracy of the models they create improve respectively.

Unfortunately, the in-game camera doesn't allow you to see all the details and beauty of the models. In the Dry Dock show, you'll be able to see everything in detail and duly appreciate their complexity and appearance, even down to the appearance of the objects on their decks.

Today, we’re focusing on a Tier X ship from the Japanese battleship branch, and one of the most famous warships in the world—Yamato. Even those people who are unfamiliar with the details of her sea battles have heard about this ship; her monumental appearance and the fact that she has the largest guns in naval history attract a lot of attention! Take a look at the legendary warship from an unusual angle in Dry Dock.

How to get research points?
After resetting the branch, a new symbol will appear on ships in the tech tree. To get research points you need to research and purchase the ship with this symbol and win a battle with her.

The underlying principle of player progression within our game involves moving from lower tier to higher tier ships, all the way up to the apex of each branch—Tier X ships. However, the game has an enormous number of different-tiered ships, and each of them offers gameplay experiences that are equally interesting as those of Tier X ships.

Update 0.8.7 is set to introduce a new progression system—the Research Bureau. You will be able to earn a new resource—Research Points—which can be exchanged for valuable rewards. All that’s required is to reset researchable branches of ships and progress through them anew.
The goal of the Research Bureau is to further motivate players to engage with all tiers of their favorite ship branches and earn unique rewards along the way.

Research Points and Rewards
Research Points can be exchanged in the new section of the Armory called the Research Bureau.

When the new system launches, French cruiser X Colbert will be available for 57,000 Research Points. Later, she will be joined by American battleship X Ohio.

If you aren't ready to invest your Research Points in a new ship, you’ll always have the opportunity to exchange them for bundles with combat signals or Free XP. For example, a bundle with 250,000 Free XP will be available for just 12,500 Research Points.

Please note: the Research Bureau section of the Armory will only become available after earning your first Research Points.

How can you earn Research Points?
If you have at least five Tier X ships researched, you will gain access to the Research Bureau, along with a one-time reward of 10,000 Research Points and the option to reset any of the researched branches of ships.
Rules of resetting
  • You must have researched a Tier X ship in the branch you intend to reset. However, the actual ships of this branch do not have to be purchased and in your Port.
  • A branch that’s reset will be completely rolled back to the Tier I ship.
    • If you’ve researched the British cruiser branch up to X Minotaur, upon resetting the branch, all cruisers starting from I Black Swan will have to be researched once again.
    • If, for example, a branch has parallel lines that reach Tier X, such as the Soviet destroyer branch, you can choose which of the lines to reset. If you decide to reset the branch of Soviet destroyers starting from X Grozovoi, it will be reset to VII Minsk, then to II Storozhevoi, and then cruiser II Novik. At the same time, you'll be able to reset the second branch from X Khabarovsk on the same principle, but in this case, bonuses will be received only by X Khabarovsk, IX Tashkent, and VIII Kiev.
  • When a branch is reset, any research performed on it will be reversed, and the ships and modules will be sold for half their cost.
  • Upgrades will be demounted free of charge and transferred to your Inventory, Commanders will be sent to the Reserve without losing their specialization, and all XP earned will be transferred to the first ship of the branch.

After resetting a branch, the Tier VI–X ships of that branch will have special Research Point marks which can be “scored” by gaining a victory in battle, similarly to bonus Stars of Victory. “Scoring” such marks will bring Research Points to players.

Earning Research Points: more details

  • Research Points can be earned once for the first victory on each ship after resetting the branch.
  • Any bonuses for a victory that awards Research Points will be displayed in the Port interface, in the same way as for other similar bonuses such as Stars of Victory.
  • Resetting a branch of ships can bring you up to 10,000 Research Points. The exact number of Research Points earned depends on the ship's tier:
    • 500 for the first victory on a Tier VI ship
    • 500 for the first victory on a Tier VII ship
    • 1,500 for the first victory on a Tier VIII ship
    • 1,500 for the first victory on a Tier IX ship
    • 6,000 for the first victory on a Tier X ship
  • Resetting a branch of aircraft carriers can bring you up to 8,000 Research Points. This is because researching an entire branch of aircraft carriers requires about 20% less XP than other ship branches.
    • 500 for the first victory on a Tier VI aircraft carrier
    • 1,500 for the first victory on a Tier VIII aircraft carrier
    • 6,000 for the first victory on a Tier X aircraft carrier
  • If, for any reason, a branch had gaps with unresearched ships, these ships will not receive a bonus for a victory attained on them. You can research any ships you skipped before resetting the branch in order to earn the maximum number of Research Points.

Research Points for the first victory can't be obtained in Clan or Training Battles.

Seasons
The Research Bureau system will work on a seasonal basis. The first Season will last 3 months.

The effect of seasons on the Research Bureau lies in the fact that the Research Points first victory bonus will be doubled for the ships of the first branch to be reset during a season. The double bonus will remain on those ships beyond the end of the season, until the first victory is gained on them.

Bonuses and Activities
Along with the launch of the Research Bureau, we've prepared a few nice surprises for you.

From the day of the Update’s release until August 30, and then between September 6 and September 13, you'll find the following bonuses and discounts in the game client. These will help you save resources and research branches of ships faster:
  • +100% XP for the first win of the day
  • −50% to the cost of Port slots
  • −50% to the cost of upgrades
  • −25% to the cost of permanent camouflage patterns for Tier VIII–IX ships
Besides this, special combat missions will be available to you in the Challenges tab. To complete these, you'll need to earn XP in Operations, Random, Ranked, and Co-op Battles on Tier VI–IX ships of all types. The combat missions will be available across three Updates—from Update 0.8.7 through Update 0.8.9—and can be completed up to 10 times each.

For completing the missions, players will be rewarded with economic and special signals that will help facilitate research.
