We’ve been out in the world showcasing ROM at events like GDC, SXSW, Pax East, and VRLA--and now we’re back with an update for you. Thanks for all your patience and feedback! Check out the following ROM update notes we have for you today:
Hey all, The hotfix is now live! It mainly addresses the framerate issues some players were experiencing upon release of our new Overrun update. Notes below:
1. Improved graphics settings auto detection (accessible through "Graphics Settings" -> "Restore Defaults”) to ensure framerates at default settings. 2. Clear previously saved graphics options to address saved options on some systems negatively impact framerates due to game rendering pipeline upgrade from deferred renderer to forward renderer. 3. Fixed issue with Overrun social screen. 4. Level lighting improvements.
Your robot-annihilation should be smooth sailing from here on out, Extractors! And of course, if you have any further issues please ping us on the discussion board.
We’re excited to announce that the first content expansion for ROM: Extraction is now live! Overrun is a whole new level for players to master, featuring several crazy new twists on VR gameplay.
After narrowly escaping the attack on the chamber, your journey to the escape pods continues through the depths of the extraction vessel. The ship has been overrun! Systems are malfunctioning, and now you must face new enemies on the lower levels of the ship and escape to the planet surface with your life.
Experience increased intensity in this continuation of the ROM story
Battle against enemies in dynamic, interactive locations
Enemies exhibit new, highly dangerous behaviors
Use the environment to your advantage--be on the lookout for destructibles
New leaderboards for each game mode
Featuring the track “Kill Room” by drum & bass duo Delta Heavy
And of course...the EOS-15!
A brand new two-handed plasma rifle with orb-launching capabilities
Grab the EOS-15 when you shoot the floating gun power-up token
Use the EOS-15 to “Launch, Slow, Shoot”--a new twist on the core game mechanic that gives you an orb-launching, auto-firing weapon of destruction
When “jumpers” are in close proximity, use your pistol or EOS-15 to pop off their heads!

The HTC Vive Summit is coming up this weekend and we're excited to announce that ROM: Extraction will be apart of the festivities!
The bonus? You can watch as HTC brings in some of their top esports personalities (such as Bjergsen, Sneaky, Hafu, Wildturtle, and more!) playing VR games in mixed reality, including battling it out in ROM:Extraction!
We headed up more incredible mixed reality demos at the Dell Experience event last night showing people what we hope is the future of fully immersive VR gaming.
The consensus from players is the haptic vest and VR-15 rifle from VRsenal really takes the gameplay experience up to a whole other level.
We also showed off ROM: Extraction at the Upload VR party at the Palms Hotel. Despite these all being crowded parties, we got to chat with so many eager VR participants who told us ROM was one of the most fun VR experiences they've had.
Have you been keeping up on what we're doing at CES?
We're still appointment only in the HTC Vive booth at the Alsace Ballroom at the Wynn hotel but for those with no badge to CES, you can enjoy standard ROM: Extraction at the Dell Experience inside the Yardbird restaurant in the Venetian.
Last night, our very own Jessica even got to demo ROM to Glitch Mob!
Want to see what we're up to and all the action from Vegas? Check out our antics by following our social channels, including pics of Glitch Mob who demoed ROM at the Dell Experience event last night!
First Contact Entertainment, the makers of ROM: Extraction, and VR15 rifle peripheral maker VRsenal have partnered to create an awesome new experience that will be demoed at CES 2017.
We've added to ROM: Extraction the ability to use the VR15 rifle peripheral and haptic vest along with HTC Vive's new Vive Tracker tech to give players an even more immersive and intense space battle experience.
We're demoing this new experience at CES 2017 in the HTC Vive booth space at the Alsace Ballroom inside the Wynn Hotel and Casino.
If you can't make it to Vegas but want to see more, be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to see this update in action.
