Perhaps one of the most challenging things about Pool Panic is figuring out how to define it. Do we put this in the sports sim category of Steam? Mike Robinson pondered apprehensively. Angus Dick followed, exclaiming that No-one s really made a stupid game like this before. He s right; Pool Panic is a deeply unusual indie title, and it certainly earned its place in the EGX Rezzed Leftfield Collection two years ago, when the public first caught wind of The World s Least Realistic Pool Simulator.

Rekim’s endearingly daft action-billiards adventure Pool Panic has rolled out into stores, and immediately into the corner pocket. Billed as “the world’s least realistic pool simulator”, this bizarre little game has been on my radar for a while. It stretches the rules of pool to breaking point, and from what I’ve seen on Adult Swim’s launch-day stream, it squeezes some interesting ideas out of the tried-and-tested formula of knocking a white ball around a table with a long stick.

The latest from little indie outfit Rekim and to be published by anarchic cartoon channel-turned-games-publisher Adult Swim, Pool Panic is a game about living a life in the day of a jittering, gurning, animated cue-ball. Your mission: Explore a world of mystery, adventure and holes in the ground that you need to knock your fellow spherical kin into. Within, an announcement trailer that really wants to make sure you remember the title.
