Audica - HMXMudry
Hi everyone,

Today we're excited to be releasing v0.2.1 of AUDICA. This update brings two brand new songs to the core soundtrack, as well as an in-game VR Map Creator! To celebrate the launch of this feature, we're also kicking off a month-long contest for our amazingly talented creator community to do what they do best - create amazing Community Maps! For more details on this, read our blog at

The two new songs available to play in Audica today are:
  • Mason vs Princess Superstar – "Perfect (Exceeder)"
  • Zedd ft. Bahari – "Addicted To A Memory"

Additionally, today's update brings the following features, updates, and fixes:

  • In-game VR Map Creator - Shoot along to any song in-game to make your own Community Map! Share your completed Maps with the community in our Discord server, or bring the file into Reaper and use our authoring tools to expand upon your creation.
  • Mirror Mode - You can now play a mirrored and hand-swapped version of any song. Perfect for players looking for a "Lefty Flip" option in Audica!
  • The song details screen has been slightly rearranged to make Community Maps easier to navigate to.
  • Added a target speed multiplier as a global user setting. This is also controllable on a per-Community Map basis to allow experimentation with denser Community Maps.
  • Added new graphical options to allow you to use supersampling and toggle full screen mode.
  • Additional Fixes and Tweaks:
    • Fixed an issue where songs ending with melees would hitch.
    • You can now shoot the timeline in practice mode to jump to a section.
    • Performance optimizations during gameplay.
    • Optimizations to improve performance while a song is loading.
    • Shortened hover time for song previews.
    • Adjusted some environment effects to make them less distracting during gameplay.
    • Support for customized avatars to use your gun's colors.
    • Adjusted score threshold to make it more challenging to achieve gold stars.
    • Tweaked coloring of hand-specific melee targets, to make Community Maps with hand-specific melees easier to read.

Hey everyone!

We’re releasing v0.2.0, which comes with two new core soundtrack songs as well as some exciting environment and blaster upgrades and support on the Oculus Rift S and Windows MR headsets!

Additionally, if you create your own custom gun and avatars models you can now add them into the game! As always, share your thoughts and feedback in our official Discord or on our social channels.

Let’s jump into the nitty gritty:

  • New Songs
    • “Break For Me” by James Landino ft. Noelle LeBlanc
    • “Resistance” by Knife Party
  • Environments and Blasters Upgrades – They are more vibrant, dynamic, and reactive to your gameplay! The environment is much more lively for those watching your spectator camera view.
  • Added recoil and sustain animations to blasters.
  • Streak Changes – The penalty for missing a target is no longer as drastic. Multipliers will now decrease by 1 for each miss, instead of a full reset. This allows you to spend more time with a multiplier and getting more points!
  • Custom Model Support – You can now load models of guns and avatars you own into the game. You can change your left and right guns, or head and body models at any time in the settings option.
  • Audica now natively supports the Oculus Rift S and Windows Mixed Reality.
  • Gun yaw and roll angle can now also be adjusted, in addition to gun pitch angle.
  • Fixes and tweaks:
    • Reduced angular drag for gunslinging tricks, so now guns can spin for longer.
    • Adjusted audio filtering behavior so that the song only temporarily filters on a miss, rather than staying filtered until the next success.
    • Fixed issue where "Allow View Toggling" option was not actually working.
    • Fixed issue where community maps could fail to load in some scenarios.
    • Improved button mapping for Knuckles (Valve Index) controllers.

That's all for now! If you're curious about what's coming down the pipeline, you can always take a look at our roadmap on Trello:

Hi everyone,

We're excited to be releasing v0.1.8 which among other updates and fixes brings a widely requested feature to AUDICA: Practice Mode! We're looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it, so be sure to share your feedback with us in our official Discord server ( or on our social channels.

Here's a look at everything that's been added, changed, and fixed in v0.1.8:

  • Practice Mode – The first version of practice mode is here! Slow down and loop challenging parts of songs and work your way towards that full combo. You can enable Practice Mode right before starting any song or at any point in the song from the Pause screen.
  • A slider has been added to allow you to reduce aim assist. We’re running an experiment to see if our high-level players enjoy playing with reduced aim assist for a more challenging experience. Keep posted for a survey about this, as we'd love to hear everyone's thoughts!
  • A shortcut to the "Testing Range" from the tutorial has been added to the tutorial menu. Hop in and perfect your Timing, Aim, and Form on the fly!
  • The "Moderate" difficulty has been renamed to "Standard" to better reflect the challenge.
  • Gunslinging now has sounds! You can adjust where the sound effects play in the Settings menu.
  • Recenter and Spectator Cam Toggle buttons have been remapped on Vive wands from the thumbpad click to the grip buttons.
  • An option has been added to disable the Spectator Cam Toggle button.
  • Fixes:
    • Chain Targets that start at the same time now show a connector bar.
    • Fixed target animation jitter when the game is paused.
    • Fixed gunslinging angular velocity not working properly in OpenVR in some scenarios.
    • Performance optimizations.

Thanks again for sharing your feedback and thoughts on AUDICA. As always, we're actively chatting and listening to feedback in our official Discord server ( Be sure to drop in, say hello, and brag about your latest high score while you're there!

Hey AUDICA players,

Today’s AUDICA update brings some new features, changes, and best of all new music to the AUDICA soundtrack!

The two new songs available to play in AUDICA today are:

  • deadmau5 – HR 8938 Cephei
  • KNOWER – Overtime

The 0.1.7 release also brings several new or improved features:

  • Improved Gun Slinging – Hold the thumbsticks left or right (or click the thumbpad left or right on Vive) to activate gun slinging moves. Holding the thumbstick inward allows you to twirl the gun like before, but now you can flick your wrist to control the twirl speed and direction. Holding the thumbstick outward allows you to let go of the guns. Add some momentum before doing so to toss them away into space! To return them to your hand, simply let go of the thumbsticks and they’ll boomerang right on back to you.
  • Tutorial Updates – The tutorial is now broken up into two parts and has been reworked to better teach the fundamentals of playing AUDICA, including score explanations.
    • The “Advanced” tutorial section also includes a shooting range that gives you live stats screen feedback to improve your timing, aim, and form.
  • Added screen resolution options to settings.
  • Bug Fixes and Tweaks
    • Fixed an issue where the color grading effect wasn't being adjusted on the spectator camera or mixed reality camera
    • Fixed inaccuracy in how stats screen timing histogram lined up with displayed average offset
    • After song preview starts, allow it to continue to play while you're hovered over any part of the song button
    • Fixed a bug where you can get the tutorial song to start playing while the pause screen is up

Please continue to share your feedback on AUDICA with us as we’re taking everyone’s thoughts on the game into account with each update! If you have something to share with us, be sure to join our Discord at and drop it in the #audica-feedback channel.

While you’re there, don’t forget to hop into the #audica-community-maps channel to learn how to author your own versions of songs on the AUDICA soundtrack and see what the rest of the community has created!

Hey everybody!

Today we’re excited to add two brand new songs to AUDICA! Today’s release brings AUDICA’s soundtrack to a whopping 16 songs, with plenty more on the way. The two new songs available today are:

  • 3Lau ft. Ninja – “Game Time”
  • M-Cue – “Predator”

In addition to new songs, AUDICA’s 0.1.6 release brings a handful of changes including:

  • Song Previews – You can now hover over a speaker icon on the song list to hear a preview for that song.
  • Community Maps Improvements:
    • Added "Mapper Mode" option to the settings to allows you to start playing at a later point in the song, to make it easier to test targets later in the song.
    • Let melee targets be affected by grid offset so community mappers can experiment more with melee target placement.
    • Included authoring for all difficulty levels in the "example_maps" folder.
    • Minor updates to mapping tools.
  • Scoring Tweak - Shots with perfect aim now automatically count as having good form, regardless of gun position.
  • Bug Fixes:
    • Fixed an issue where certain styles of swings could cause double melees to be missed.
    • Potential fix for an issue where some Vive controllers might double-shoot in some rare circumstances.
    • Fixed issue where Community Maps would show the wrong number of stars.

In case you missed it last week, we also announced the Audica Creator Initiative. As part of this, we have released our tool set and documentation for authoring songs in AUDICA. These tools empower our incredibly talented modding community to create their own authoring for songs on AUDICA’s in-game soundtrack.

More information can be found in our blog from last week, or in the documentation included alongside the authoring tools in the game files.

We’re excited to see what you create! Be sure to share your creations and download others in the #audica-community-maps channel in the official Harmonix Discord server:

Hey everyone!

Today, we're releasing AUDICA authoring tools and documentation to the entire community so that players can make fully-supported, alternate target maps for Audica's soundtrack!

We've been listening and heard that you all want more support for custom content, and today marks the first step in what we're internally calling "the AUDICA Creator Initiative" with the introduction of Community Maps. Our goal is to provide a platform for our incredibly creative modding community to showcase their talents to all of AUDICA's players. Long-term, we want to make it as easy as possible for players to access Community Maps from within the game. Think in-game downloads and the ability to rate and review maps after you play. How far we go in developing this feature will depend on your feedback, so tell us what you think and let's make something awesome!

For more information on how to get started, read the full post about Community Maps over on our blog at

Additionally, the 0.1.5 update brings the following changes and fixes:

  • Updates to the Spectator Cam:
    • User preferences for enabling the spectator camera are now saved.
    • There is now a notification to let you know if you're in 1st or 3rd person mode.
  • Added a setting to adjust the volume of music and SFX independently.
  • Bugs fixed:
    • Fixed a bug where certain melee targets were always counting as a miss after restarting a song.
    • Fixed an issue where the score displayed on the song list wouldn't reset when a song's leaderboard was wiped.
    • Fixed a bug for Vive players where you couldn't twirl your gun without toggling between the 1st / 3rd person spectator camera mode.

Beat Saber is an honest-to-goodness VR masterpiece that recently became one of the first VR games in the world to have sold over 1 million copies.

The core mechanic; chopping virtual blocks with virtual swords to a pumping soundtrack is as simple as it is brilliant and if I'm demoing VR to a newcomer, Beat Saber is always top of the pile. This is mainly due to how incredible it feels to play but also because it's just so easy to get to grips with. And I mean, come on, a game that lets you wield lightsabers like some kind of badass, drum 'n' bass Jedi? How could that not be the height of awesomeness?

Obviously the phenomenal success of Beat Saber was bound to spawn imitators sooner or later, so who better to try its hand at some VR rhythm action than Harmonix, the company behind Guitar Hero, Rockband and Dance Central.

Hey everyone!

Thank you for your continued support! Your feedback from AUDICA’s first week of Early Access has been incredibly helpful – keep it coming! We’ve just released an update (0.1.2) that adds more of the customization options you’ve been asking for, fixes for the bugs you’ve helped us track down, and more.

Let’s get to the patch notes for version 0.1.2:

  • Fixed a bug where certain melee strikes were incorrectly counted as misses.
  • You can now adjust your height from the Settings menu. This will increase accessibility and should help you with melee hit detection.
  • Added an option for flipping slot targets for players who prefer them like this.
  • Added an in-game warning addressing a Unity bug (fix pending) that affects framerate when the game window is not in focus.
    • Note: Keeping the AUDICA window focused will maintain the best framerate
  • Sustain and chain breaks are now displayed on the results screen to improve messaging when players hit 100% of the targets, but leave a chain or sustain early, thus not receiving a FC.
  • Higher difficulties are now locked for new players. Advanced unlocks for all songs after starting one song on Moderate, and Expert unlocks after starting one song on Advanced.
  • Added a message in the tutorial about resting your arms.
  • Added an option to reduce automatic re-centering.
  • The Total Leaderboard now displays the “Top %” correctly on the Friends tab.
  • Fixed a bug where some players were getting stuck on the title screen.
  • Fixed bug where leaderboards didn’t work for players whose computers are set to other number formats.

Please continue to share any issues or feedback you may for AUDICA! Additionally, you can check our newly launched Trello board to see known issues, what’s next on our roadmap (including two new songs coming next week), and more! You can find our Trello board at
