The world’s largest sporting event may be going on (the RPS Summer Games, obvs) but not everyone’s invited. Apparently some old fella named Ian Lympics decrees what is and isn’t sport, and he has little time for anything invented after the 19th century. Undeterred, eSports ploughed on and held Dota 2’s International and motorEsports are now virtuavrooming in F1 2016 [official site]. Codemasters today released their latest Formula 1 racing sim, and after a couple of disappointing years it sounds like this is a solid addition. Vroom!

Upcoming racer F1 2016 [official site] will be getting a new Multiplayer Championship mode, which will allow up to 22 players to race over the course of a whole season, overtaking each other and hitting the pit stop and generally having a great time, while you get repeatedly lapped by all your best friends. Because you are rubbish.

When Codemasters announced F1 2016 [official site], they talked about safety cars and an improved career mode as the big exciting improvements to this year’s road-dolphin game. Pssh! Today they added that oh, yeah, now it supports full 22-player multiplayer too. That’s enough players in one race to fill a full Formula 1 starting grid without any AI drivers filling in. Also revealed today are Formation Laps, manual race starts, and more control with pit stops. Sim-u-like.

F1 2016 [official site] will arrive on August 19th, smack bang in the middle of the current Formula 1 racing season, Codemasters announced today. That means you could play along with a fair few races while watching them on television, I suppose. You’d get to tell your mates “Well, actually, I had the fastest time in the Japanese Grand Prix but due to a minor technicality…” then trail off as you turn away to sip your drink.
