Capsuleers,

A new era is coming to New Eden with the Legion expansion, as announced in the EVE Keynote at Fanfest 2025. Releasing on 27 May, it will introduce a host of new and exciting innovations, adjustments, and additions. These include Freelance Jobs, new ships, new sovereignty upgrades, and much more. Read on for details of what’s coming in the expansion, and if you haven’t already, make sure to watch the Legion keynote. In addition, you can get even more granular details in the two expansion panels that were streamed on Fanfest, one regarding new ships and module balance, and the other covering freelance jobs and the corporation palette

If you are looking for a shorter video that covers the highlights, enjoy the In Focus video:

To dive even deeper into Legion read on and then tune into the In Focus live stream, on 15 May at 15:00 UTC. You can also check out the patch notes and the directors’ chat stream coming on 23 May.

Designate. Delegate. Dominate.
Legion builds on the foundation laid with Corporation Projects, adding Freelance Jobs to further empower corporation leaders, and creating a free market for jobs – introducing a gig economy to New Eden. This is a great way to outsource and a fantastic opportunity to attract new members to your corp.

Freelance Jobs are a real boon to new pilots, offering a player-driven source of ISK and experience, as well as guidance and purpose during their first steps. Through Freelance Jobs, corporations can initiate connections with promising recruits, removing a potential barrier to entry, as new pilots may find the prospect of applying to a corp intimidating. Where they might lack the confidence to approach a new corporation, Freelance Jobs allow them to take on fun activities and potentially get recruited, feeling valued and empowered to become a contributing member.

Each capsuleer can take on up to three Freelance Jobs at a time, and a corporation can have up to 100 jobs active. To begin with, corporations can offer the following project types to freelancers:
  • Destroy non-capsuleers
  • Damage capsuleers,
  • Mine materials
  • Capture Factional Warfare complex
  • Defend Factional Warfare complex
  • Ship insurance
In the coming months more contribution methods will be added, including an improved version of Deliver Item.

See and Be Seen
Freelance Jobs are designed to be accessible and rewarding for both the corporation and the freelancer. Once a job is published, it will appear in the corporation's show info window, providing instant visibility. Freelancers browsing the Opportunities window will see all available jobs broadcast from within five jumps, making discovery fast and frictionless.

Corporations have a range of options when setting up a job. They can open it to all capsuleers or apply restrictions, such as minimum/maximum character age. Each job can be broadcast from up to 20 solar systems with a rented office, letting corps target specific areas like rookie starting systems. More targeting options are on the way, including filters based on NPC corp affiliation, AIR Career Program score, and eventually full Access Control Lists (ACL) that pave the way toward Alliance Projects.

New ESI endpoints for Corporation Projects will be added shortly after the expansion launches, with support for Freelance Jobs following soon after.

Prepare for Deployment
Two formidable new warships enter the fray with Legion: the Sarathiel and the Babaroga.

The Sarathiel, an Angel Cartel dreadnought, is a brutal addition to capital ship rosters. It features large bonuses to projectile weapon damage and falloff, allowing it to strike hard from across the battlefield. The Angel Cartel is known for designing ships with high mobility, and the Sarathiel is no exception. In addition to the usual warp speed bonus, it has a unique twist. While in siege mode, it has the ability to move and even use a capital micro jump drive (CJMD).

The Sarathiel offers a lot of versatility, with five high power slots, seven mid power slots, and six low power slots. Armor and shield hit points are distributed equally, and the powergrid is higher than usual, allowing for great fitting flexibility. Blueprint Copies of the Sarathiel can be obtained from the Malakim Zealots LP store, which can be found in Zarzakh or in the Angel Pirate Insurgency FOB.

The Babaroga is the Triglavian answer to the empire marauders: ruthless, elegant, and terrifying. With boosted tracking, increased optimal range, and max spool bonuses, it delivers incredible disintegrator damage at a distance. Thanks to the ability to fit a bastion module for powerful offensive and defensive bonuses, the Babaroga is far more resilient than the Leshak, while also claiming the crown for peak potential subcapital ship DPS.

Sharing the Leshak’s 5-4-8 slot layout, the Babaroga has the space to fit top-tier armor defenses, and enjoys all the utility high slot bonuses you’ve come to expect from the marauder class as well as the Triglavian faction. Blueprint Copies of the Babaroga can be obtained by performing Invention Jobs on Leshak blueprint copies. These ships are bound to be popular, so opportunistic industrialists may want to adjust their facilities to meet the demand and make a tidy profit!

Legion isn’t just introducing new ships but aiming to redefine what pilots can expect from them.

Control the Battlefield
Meanwhile in nullsec, sovereignty continues to evolve. Legion introduces more flexibility and customization with three new categories of upgrades. New resource conversion upgrades give you more control over your resources, with the ability to generate workforce from power and vice versa. New system-wide modifiers let you lean into the strengths of your doctrine, offering bonuses to scanning, targeting, and specific combat styles:

  • Gamma Stability Generator: increasing shield HP and capacitor capacity
  • Plasma Stability Generator: increasing armor HP and benefits to overloading modules
  • Electric Stability Generator: increasing capacitor recharge rate, targeting and D-Scan range.
  • Exotic Stability Generator: increasing scan resolution and AU/s warp speed.

Exploration upgrades return, revamped and more rewarding than ever. These upgraded sites not only boast improved spawn mechanics and distribution, but also feature guaranteed spawns upon installation and escalating path chances across each tier. With new implants and module rewards to uncover, they’ll turn strategic systems into true treasure troves.

Taking over space becomes less of a grind and more of a strategic play. A single click lets you assume control of all skyhooks in a system you have conquered, allowing you to install upgrades and begin operations immediately, without interrupting raiding windows or needing to destroy and rebuild infrastructure.

Later this summer, ESI endpoints will reflect these updates to sovereignty dynamics, supporting third-party development and data visibility for sovereignty-focused capsuleers.

Forge Your Legacy

The key to corporate success and domination is a strong brand with a powerful identity. Legion, introduces the corporation palette which lets brand managers define up to three official colors using the full RGB/HEX range. Later this year the corporation logo editor will also receive a major upgrade. Out go the preset color swatches, replaced by a full-featured color picker.

Recruitment will also get an overhaul later this summer. New custom invite messages, local time display in corp ads, and broader language options will make it easier than ever for corps and pilots to match their playstyle, language, and schedule.

Refit and Rebalance
Legion makes improvements across New Eden’s fleets. From strategic cruisers and logistics vessels to capital ships and beyond, this is a recalibration aimed at fostering more diverse engagements and deeper tactical play.

Remote repair gameplay is being retooled to reward risk and skill. Overheating remote repairers will now yield greater results, letting support pilots push their tools harder when the moment demands it. Logistics cruisers are receiving targeted buffs, while strategic cruisers’ support subsystems get additional powergrid to accommodate more defensive modules or higher strength remote repairers.

Cruiser hulls also benefit from this balance pass. The Thorax gains speed and powergrid, making it more competitive in fast skirmishes. The Rupture receives refined artillery bonuses, bringing new life to a long-standing favorite. Across the board, cruisers and Tech III hulls are being given enhanced remote armor repair capabilities, with the latter also receiving overheat bonuses, bringing new options for agile mid-scale engagements.

The capital meta is also evolving. Fighter salvos from bombers and heavy bombers are being extended by 50%, increasing their field time before reloading. Meanwhile, Space Superiority Fighters are seeing a decrease in damage to subcapitals – reinforcing their role as anti-fighter specialists, rather than general-purpose damage dealers. These adjustments aim to consolidate their identity and carve out more space for subcapital fleets.

Survivability is also going up. The rollback of the penalty to shield and armor extenders from the Surgical Strike update has been completed, now scaling up to 400% for supercarriers and 500% for titans. This is part of a broader effort to elevate supercapitals back into a more viable role, keeping pace with the rising power of faction and lancer dreadnoughts.

Directed doomsday weapons get a 20% damage bump, and the new Advanced Doomsday Operations skill book increases damage by a further 7.5% per level. This applies across the board, including bosonic weapons – but not to lancer dreads. And to round it off, several pirate faction dreadnoughts are receiving buffs to help them stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the Sarathiel and hold their own against modern navy and lancer dreads.

Surgical Strike’s legacy is being revisited too. Resistance changes from that patch are being dialed back by 10%, making ships harder to erase with a single volley and giving logistics pilots a bigger window to intervene. Fights will feel more tactical and less binary, especially in mid-scale engagements where coordination and adaptability shine.

Chart the Future
The map is getting a major overhaul. A long-term project has begun to bring the new map up to parity with the classic experience and third-party tools. This first iteration will make it easier to apply and switch between filters, share filter sets in chat, and adds a view mode toggle as well as new quick action buttons to identify both your location and home station at a glance.

Visual upgrades also extend to the ships themselves. Five Tech I cruisers and many of their variants – 13 ships in total – have been redesigned and polished. With some of them also seeing improved geometry, texture fidelity, bespoke animation states, refined weapon platforms, and updated VFX. The accompanying balance pass ensures they don’t just look new – they fly new!

Streamlined and Sharp
A series of quality-of-life improvements are also coming with Legion. Neocom customization is on the way, allowing capsuleers to recolor their interface icons to suit their style. You’ll be able to view contact labels in character info windows and see how many blueprints you own across all of New Eden (or filter by specific location) from within the industry window.

Shortly after the launch of Legion, damaged crystals will reveal their status at a glance with hover-over tooltips in the inventory. And those flying as Omega have even more to look forward to. The AIR Career Program will award twice the Skill Points for Omega pilots, giving a meaningful edge in progression. A visual rework of the Omega brand further clarifies what’s on offer – and why it’s worth the upgrade.

Your colors are a statement of unity and boost pride, cohesion, and recognition as your influence grows across the cluster. Whether you want to broadcast your philosophy, rally your members, or simply stand apart, your palette is yours to define.

Amass Firepower, Command Destruction
Two fearsome new warships bring ultimate firepower and resilience, designed to dominate the battlefield and inspire awe.

The Babaroga, a Triglavian marauder, delivers brutal entropic disintegrator damage and its bastion module unleashes record-breaking subcap DPS.

The Sarathiel, an agile and fierce Angel Cartel dreadnought, unleashes fast, long-range capital-class destruction, enjoys big bonuses to capital projectile damage and falloff, and the unique ability to use a capital micro jump drive (CJMD) in siege mode!

Shape Your Space
New sovereignty upgrades will bring more control and dynamism to your nullsec territories. Mold your space and expand your strategies with powerful new sovereignty upgrades that provide new exploration opportunities and even greater leverage over your resources.

Firstly, new upgrades are being introduced that let you generate new colony resources by utilizing existing ones. Each one comes in three tiers, allowing for more flexibility when shaping your space to match the activities and ambitions of you and your corpmates.

Four new upgrades that consist of paired bonuses are also being added, allowing sovereignty owners to tailor their systems to fit their preferred combat styles, ships, and modules. For example, one of the system modifiers will apply a gamma effect to benefit your shield doctrines and capacitor capacity. Another plasma effect system modifier will benefit your armor comp and module overheating.

Finally, an improved version of the exploration upgrades that spawn data and relic sites are being re-introduced, complete with a new distribution system that will affect the spawn rate of these sites for several systems instead of just one. These upgrades will also have a guaranteed spawn rate upon installation and a chance at an escalation path across each of the tiers with new rewards.

Furthermore, orbital skyhook conquest costs will be greatly reduced with the ability to capture existing skyhooks, making your road to conquest more streamlined.

These upgrades will bring greater flexibility and opportunity to nullsec, enabling alliances to invest in infrastructure that reflects their ambitions and adapt more rapidly to changing circumstances.

The result is a more dynamic, rewarding sovereignty system that offers corporations new ways to support their members, compete on equal footing, and build a lasting legacy.

But wait, there is MORE!

EVE Online - EVE Online
TL;DR – What’s New in Capsuleer Day XXII: Nexus Reckoning
  • Capsuleer Day XXII is live - the final phase of the Drifter Crisis has begun
  • Activities for all playstyles in all areas of New Eden
  • New Drifter wormhole combat sites:
  • Labyrinth Complex – randomized multi-room PvE gauntlet
  • Nexus Point – high-end site unlocked with a key from the Labyrinth Complex
  • K-space exploration content with chances at Genolution implants, SKINs, and more
  • Expect the unexpected on 6 May
Capsuleer Day XXII is live, and with it, the full scope of Nexus Reckoning has been revealed. The stage was set with the Race for the Hives, and now five factions – Amarr, Caldari, Minmatar, EDENCOM, and the Triglavian Collective – are embedded deep in Drifter wormhole systems. They won’t hold these systems alone. They’ll need your support to stay in the fight and push the advantage.

From empire space to wormholes, from miners to combat pilots, this is a full spectrum call to arms. And the most dangerous sites have just been uncovered.

Enter the Labyrinth Complex & Nexus Point
Two new Drifter wormhole combat sites are active. The Labyrinth Complex is a sprawling gauntlet with shifting layouts, multiple acceleration gate destinations, a roaming Drifter battleship, and a mix of combat and non-combat challenges. Capsuleers who complete the Labyrinth Complex will earn a key to the Nexus Point, a site that pushes even Tech II battlecruisers to their limits. This is the heart of Drifter space – high risk, high reward.

Build Filaments. Jump In. Fight for Control.
To reach those Drifter wormhole systems, capsuleers can now construct filaments to get there directly, with materials gathered from Tyranite deposit asteroid belts in k-space and Pochven. Faction-held wormholes now host unique item traders, each loyal to their occupying force.

Fight Drifter forces and support the Amarr, Caldari, Minmatar, EDENCOM, or the Triglavian Collective to help them hold their ground in hostile space.

Faction & Officer Loot
Combat in Drifter wormholes can lead to high-end faction and officer module drops, while updated Horizon Siege Point sites – now called Reckoning: Vigilance Point sites – bring intense PvE battles to wormholes and Pochven. Keys for these sites can be found across empire space, including hacking content from the Drifter Crisis.

Explore & Reap the Rewards
Sleeper relic sites and Drone Manufacturing combat sites are appearing across k-space. These can reward capsuleers with Drifter-themed SKINs, SKINR components, boosters, filament blueprint copies (BPCs), and Genolution Core implants. Some BPCs allow creation of items that can modify Drifter wormhole sites themselves – creating new tactical options in the war to come.

The Eye of the Storm
Capsuleer Day will reach its zenith on 6 May. As the occupying factions dig in, Drifter retaliation cannot be ruled out. Capsuleers are advised to reinforce, coordinate, and prepare. The seasonal award track is active, with Capsuleer Day Tyrantbreaker SKINs available through both it and daily login rewards. Log in, gear up, and stay alert.

The final phase of the Drifter Crisis has begun. What happens next is up to you.

EVE Online - EVE Online
Intrepid capsuleers,

The Drifter Crisis is about to reach its breaking point, and you might be the deciding factor. Capsuleer Day XXII, codenamed Nexus Reckoning, begins on 15 April. It’s a full-scale seasonal event with daily login rewards, exciting and lucrative challenges, as well as a faction-driven war that spans wormholes, Pochven, and empire space. The turning point is almost here. It’s time to act.

The War for the Hives Rages On
The Race for the Hives event is over, and the five top-scoring factions are establishing a presence inside Drifter wormhole systems. Here are the results for the highest scoring factions, top contributors, and contributions over time:

These intrepid factions will not stand alone; they will rely on capsuleer support to hold ground, defend against retaliation, push deeper, and ultimately secure control of the Drifter systems.

At the start of Capsuleer Day, Drifter wormhole space will see massive overhauls, with two new combat sites revealed: the Labyrinth Complex, which will be gated to Tech II battlecruisers, and the Nexus Point, where an even greater threat lurks. The deeper you go, the higher the stakes and the greater the rewards!

Keep in mind that this is not a one-sided conflict. The Drifters are expected to retaliate, and as a last stand is mounted, pilots in all areas of New Eden will be able to do their part to influence the escalating struggle. No region will be untouched by the war, and all capsuleers can find ways to contribute.

All Playstyles Needed
Every kind of capsuleer is needed in the Nexus Reckoning. Whether your strengths lie in combat, exploration, hacking, manufacturing, or market manipulation, there are ways to contribute – and profit. Industrialists and manufacturers will find new roles in supporting the conflict. Constructing and distributing key items will shape how the war unfolds and who comes out ahead.

The event’s seasonal reward track offers exclusive SKINs, ships, and rare items to those who complete challenges across these different activities. Content in Drifter wormholes will grant the most progress on the track, but opportunities to earn great rewards will exist in all areas of New Eden.

The Spoils of War
Among the rewards on offer this Capsuleer Day are new Drifter-themed SKINs, SKINR design components, boosters, mutaplasmids, and maybe even SoCT ships. The new combat sites may lead to experimental officer modules, and traders in the Labyrinth Complex may offer rare Drifter faction modules and volatile boosters.

SKINs earned through the event reward track will be bound to your account, a permanent mark of your achievement. However, loot recovered from challenge sites, including SKINs, filaments, crates, and consumables, will be fully tradable, opening opportunities for economic profit and market speculation.

In parallel, a full set of daily login rewards will be up for grabs! Log in each day to earn prizes that increase in value the longer you stay engaged. The big reward for Omega clones unlocks on 6 May, just as the conflict reaches its peak. Omegas can claim both reward tracks, and upgrading mid-event unlocks all missed rewards retroactively.

Make Your Mark on Any Front
Event content will surface through the Agency and AIR Opportunities, guiding capsuleers toward combat encounters, hacking sites, mining opportunities, and more. Some Drifter Crisis content will remain active, but will now be available outside Crisis systems. In addition, the Horizon Siege Point site will return, with some modifications, inside Pochven and wormhole space.

Capsuleers from all walks of New Eden can get involved, interfere, profit, or prey on the unprepared. PvPers looking to disrupt fleets or pick apart explorers will find rich hunting grounds, especially in wormhole space.

This is a shared battlefield. No matter where you live, you will find action in your space.

Prepare for the Final Stand
This is the culmination of a long and escalating war, and your actions will define how it ends. The factions leading the charge into Drifter space may emerge victorious, or they may be driven out. If the Drifters win, the consequences could reach far beyond wormholes. If capsuleers succeed, they may help pave the way for factions to discover opportunities to begin research into some of the most dangerous and powerful technology in New Eden.

The last days of Nexus Reckoning will see even more dramatic events take place, playing out across empire space and inviting all capsuleers to participate. Capsuleer Day XXII ends on 15 May, and until then, every login, every combat encounter, every choice matters. This is the final phase of the Drifter Crisis, and you will make a difference.

She is the author of A Brief History of Black Holes: and why nearly everything you know about them is wrong, and Space: 10 Things You Should Know – The secrets of 14 billion years for people short on time, as well as writing the foreword to Cosmos: Explore the Wonders of the Universe by DK Publishing.

Capsuleer Scientist

Dr. Turner, a senior science advisor at NASA, is a leading expert in space radiation risk, analyzing the dangers that cosmic rays and solar storms pose to deep-space explorers. His work directly contributes to the safety of future astronauts venturing beyond Earth’s orbit. Outside the lab, he’s also a capsuleer, navigating the perils of New Eden as an EVE player. His perspective bridges the gap between real-world spaceflight and the grand-scale conflicts of EVE Online.

This is your chance to hear from two experts who live and breathe space, whether through telescope or starship hulls. Tune in to the Fanfest livestream on CCP TV to witness the collision between the science of the real and virtual worlds.
