We're celebrating the 10 year anniversary of Quadrilateral Cowboy with a game update!

New Extras Menu

In the main menu, there's now an "Extras" menu with various development videos, trailer videos, unused prototypes, and more.

More Developer Commentary

We went through the entire game and added more developer commentary nodes for you to check out. Take a behind the scenes peek at how Quadrilateral Cowboy was put together.

Bugfixes

Fixed a bug where the player model sometimes used the wrong animation.
Fixed a bug where recalling previous commands on the deck was sometimes not working.
Fixed a bug where objects were sometimes not dropping correctly.
Fixed a crash with the Launcher equipment.
Fixed a crash with exiting the Moto Spectre minigame.

I'm so grateful for all the folks who've spent time with Quadrilateral Cowboy over the past 10 years. I couldn't do it without you all. Thank you!!!!!!!!!

Big fixes in this Quadrilateral Cowboy March 2026 update:

Fixed bug with Deck command history

The player can press the up arrow to recall previous commands. However, there was a bug where this would sometimes misbehave, and instead instantly run the previous command. This is now fixed.

Fixed bug with some gameplay objects not working

There was an occasional bug where some gameplay objects, such as buttons, doors, etc, would not behave or react correctly. This was due to some ancient and fundamental code that make the Deck system work with the game. This is now fixed.

Fixed crash with Launcher item

The Launcher item was occasionally crashing the game. This was due to some code where the Launcher wasn't correctly resetting itself between runs. This is now fixed.

Fixed crash with exiting the Moto Spectre

The game would occasionally crash when pressing ESC to exit the Moto Spectre mini-game. This is now fixed.

Fixed bug where player wasn't dropping items between runs

If the player was holding an item and restarted a run, the player wasn't correctly dropping the item. This is now fixed.

Fixed bug with player idle animation

When the player died and respawned, the player idle animation wasn't correctly resetting. Specifically, it was trapping the player in an eternal crawling animation. This is now fixed.

Quadrilateral Cowboy July 2025 update

A couple fixes for Quadrilateral Cowboy:

Recording crash fix. There was a crash issue caused by the recorded events. Recorded events need to be initialized with default values, and this was sometimes not happening. This is now fixed.
Fixed startup issue with Mac build. The Mac build was not starting correctly due to a file being in the wrong folder. This is now fixed.

Update 009: The Video Update

The game had some video issues... they're now fixed! Big huge thanks to Ethan Lee for making this update happen 🙏

Fixes

Fixed fullscreen issue. There was an issue where switching to fullscreen would result in the screen extending beyond the boundaries of the monitor. This is now fixed.
Fixed desktop resolution issue. There was an issue where changing the game resolution would affect the size/resolution of the operating system desktop. This is now fixed.
Windowed mode issue. There was an issue where switching to windowed mode would sometimes position the window beyond the boundaries of the monitor. The window position now defaults to the center of the screen.
Brightness issue. There was an issue where adjusting the video brightness option would affect the brightness of the operating system desktop. This is now fixed.

Update 008: Mac/Linux 64-bit update

The Mac & Linux builds of Quadrilateral Cowboy are now 64-bit! This update should alleviate technical issues some folks were having on these platforms.

Ramen bowl: fixed bug where switching weapons causes crash.
Vendor room: locked a door that was accidentally left unlocked.
Airship: fixed a bad fall trigger.
Zooming: fixed bug where using the deck while zoomed-in caused a problem.
Dev commentary: fixed some typos.

Update 006: Mac/Linux Release

Quadrilateral Cowboy is now live on the Mac and Linux platforms. The Art Book is now also available on Mac and Linux.

Further additions:

Resolution list now auto-populates with supported resolutions.
Added automatic setting to aspect ratio selection.
Menu mouse sensitivity now scales to screen resolution.
